Michele did it on the thread - Mike did it on the overview.

But Michele's 4600 counts as it is officially marked as #4600, has been confirmed by the Master of the List, and as she didn't desert the group pirate:

Other topic:

The US-Administration has officially requested blankets, tank-trucks, & 500,000 meals from the EU. Germany's second Airbus carrying 30 metric tons of food (K-Rations) and other stuff for the victims is enroute to the disaster area right now.

Did not feel the time was right earlier to post this due to all that has been happening down south this week. However, I want the rest of you to know that Rich and I will not be cruising Disney at all in 2006. Hope to stay in touch and meet up with some of you when Eric and Anja come to NYC and at other times during our travels or your travels.

Take care. God bless. Stay safe. - Richard and Rosemary

Hi all...

Vi Cooper is a very good friend of mine (since I was 9 years old!). She's an AVON rep in Sumter, South Carolina. AVON is offering a "Disaster Relief Kit" of popular AVON products. You can sponsor one for just $10, which will be distributed to families in need, by Gifts in Kind International.

Each kit includes an AVON anti-perspirant, Moisture Therapy skin cream, Skin-So-Soft Sunscreen with Bug Guard, Skin-So-Soft shower gel, and Moisture Therapy lip balm.

In addition, $4 of each kit will go directly to Gifts in Kind, International ("the nation’s leader in product donation to disaster victims, and Avon has partnered with them to assist these families in their time of need").

If you feel this would be the way you'd like to help the hurricane victims, you may contact Vi Cooper through her AVON website (and pay by credit card, if you wish) at www.youravon.com/violacooper
(item #167-519)

I know your donation will be greatly appreciated. And the blessings you will reap will far outweigh what you sow.

God Bless and Love,

Marianne

Bette--- Thanks for sharing the information.

Our area has alot of way to contribute. At the grocery store you can add onto your bill a donation to American Red Cross, which is such an easy way for me to give since I am at the store at least 3 times a week.

Curlyq--- The Cloister Car which is having a free car wash on Labor Day and asking for donations instead which will all go to the Hurricane Relief fund. My DH is going down at 7am tomorrow to try to avoid the rush and is going to give a donation equal to what the car wash would cost. If this is anything like it was on Election day for the free car wash it will be a mad house. I just hope people give and don't just go for the free car wash.

The Catholic church diocese that I live in next week is having a special collection and are also gathering supplies to send down. I would like to give away some of the things that have returned from the college boys as they are in good condition and can be used by someone.

I have stopped watching the news as it has become a political and racial forum for what has or hasn't been done. These people are suffering and I don't believe any relief was initially delayed because of the color of their skin or what political party ran what branch of governement. This was much bigger than anyone was ever prepared for and the first time a major city has been hit by a hurricane. Blaming each other doesn't help the situation and when this issue is investigated I think there will be enough blame to be shared by everyone from local, state and federal governement. For now, I am boycotting the news and we do my part by giving to the Red Cross and give needed supplies to all the various other organizations who will be helping these people over the coming months and years. Off my soapbox now.

Ave--- Glad to hear that you are doing better.

Michele--- Congratulations on 4600

Nancy

I was sorry about your mail informing about your leaving us, Rosemary and Richard - Now it's just Ellen & Dave and Anja & me left from the original crew.
So I guess we need to find new tablemates for the four of us ;)
Nevertheless we're looking forward to seeing you guys in the Big Apple. :wave2:

Sorry to see Rich and Rosemary go. :sad1: Happy Trials in your RV. Hope to see you in NYC.

Eric--- Isn't Mary and George part of the orginial Cruisetoberfest. Or are you talking about your table mates?

Nancy

Have the day off since it is Labor Day.

I added a smilie to my signature with a USA flag, there are many other flags on that sight if anyone is interested in adding it to there signature. I thought it fit with our international theme from our list.

Off to the gym soon to work off all the extra calories I ate the past couple of days.

OOOOOOPS,
you're right Mary & George participated in ALL Cruisetoberfests, I must have been thinking of our tablemates only.

Thanks for the link, Nancy.
I added a European Smiley as you can see.
For the next 24 hours we'll drive a Smart, a 8foot-car, two-seated, with a 700cc threecylinder turbocharged rear-engine. It's fun to drive and you can park virtually everywhere. Our car is in the shop getting a parking heater. This is a small burner using gas to preheat the engine's cooling liquid and blowing warm air into the interior. It makes ice and snow melt in the winter so there's no scraping free the windows. I ordered the newest generation: It has a remote control with an integrated computer measuring the outside temperature, the engine's temperature, and the interior temperature. I just 'tell it' when we want to leave and it calculates by itself when to start the burner to reach the ideal temperature. Additionally teh outside and interior temps are transmitted to teh remote for me to see. Additionally I will have a HotShot installed: This device preheats the windowwasherfluid to 65°C/145°F thus removing insects better in the summer and keeping the spray-nozzles and the windshield icefree in the winter. They have a special summer offer right now: I got 10% on the heater and the HotShot for free. Nevertheless the total is €1650/$2060, but IMHO it's worth every penny.

Eric--- Are you sure you don't own the Batmobile. Or that car that David Hasserhoff had in a series, I think the cars name was Kit.

DS#2 was home for the weekend and headed back to school around noontime. DS#1 and Dh are golfing. I have been working on rearranging all the stuff that has been placed in the workroom. At least now there is a path to get to the door.

Enjoy the rest of the long weekend everyone.

Nancy

Hope that you all had a good labor day holiday. Take care. Mike

Just saw on the local news that there are 2,000 EMT's in the reserve medical corp that are waiting to go to help Katrina victims, but no one in the government in Washington or Louisiana will give them permission to go into the area. The only way that Charity hospital in New Orleans was evacuated was the Helicopters from HCA hospitals went down on their own to rescue people. It was a private company saying to h*ll with government red tape and doing it on their own.

Wow, Mike, I didn't realize that it was a HCA helicopter that evacuated the poor souls from Charity. This whole thing is such a mess -- really unfortunate that Katrina had to hit the US while we have such an idiot in charge of the country.

The helicopters were from HCA hospitals. That is my understanding of the way it was. Most of the helicopters are subcontracted from Rocky mountain helicopters and other companies that specialize in air ambulance services. HCA was founded in Nashville by Senator Bill Frist's father.

Eric do you like Reese's peanut butter cups or the pieces like ET :rotfl: They have come out with a mega peanut butter cup. Guarnteed to put a smile on the lips and pounds on the hips. Mike

Nancy,
you're talking about Knight Rider, an 80ies series starring Hasselhoff, the car's name was KITT with a double-T, which was an akronym, but I don't remember what for :confused3
But I prefer to think of my ride as a James Bond Car :rotfl2: The next gadget will be rotating tags to confuse the police :teeth:

Mike,
those Reeses sound great. Reeses will definitely be among the things we'll buy and bring home :p

Jeanne,
Bush's performance -or better: non-performance ;) - really is ridiculous. But IMHO the main issue now will be to help those people and I guess they don't care where the help will come from. Unfortunately this fact will help him to get out of the line of fire - But the victims are more important now.
Nevertheless he didn't do America's repution any good.
Just three years and you're rid of him anyway ;) We don't have a rule like this and so we had to endure Chancellor Kohl for 16 years - So you can call yourself lucky

Eric...I thought that the remote start we had on the other AV was neat! I like what you are adding better! I might have to tell Steve about that! Oh, but wait....that's more money spent on that truck! hhmmm.....I better rethink that!

Well, we truely had a Labor day weekend! We painted all 108' of fencing, both sides, 2 doors and frames and the garage door frame, anther coat on the deck and the swing, then mowed grass. Now the fence needs a second coat, but I need to order more stain. I will try and work on it this week since the weather is going to be nice and it needs done before the winter, but who knows how much I can get done by myself. I am sore in places I didn't even know I had muscles! Today, I will do NOTHING....well, as much nothing as a SAHM does....laundry and straighting up the house. You know how it is when you are in the yard for 4 days, the house just gets trashed!

Off to have breakfast with friends! Have a great day ya'll!

Michele,
here's a link to The Manufacturer of my heater.
A remote starter is the worst you can do to your engine and to the environment: Starting a cold engine and having it run on idle causes excessive wear on the cams, the pistons, the valves, and all bearings. You should always start it and then immediately drive of with low revs.
Additionally 'cold idle' pollutes the environment as the catalyst won't reach the temperature it needs to neutralize all the poisonous stuff. As a former motorcyclist I'm a stickler for warming up my engine thoroughly before having it bear a heavy load. When you have one of these heaters and start up your engine in the winter once without preheating and once with, you feel, hear, and even smell the difference. And especially as our car is equipped with leather seats it is great to have it preheated. Nevertheless I switch on the heated seats for the first couple miles.
And finally: One minute of cold idle uses as much gas as driving 1 kilometer/.625 mls - without propelling your forward an inch ;)

We had a working labour day weekend as well Michele but ours was inside. We blanched and froze, 25 lbs of carrots, 15 broccoli heads and 12 califlowers. We also went to a Jays game and saw them lose to Tampa Bay.

Only a three day work week for me as I'm taking Friday off to go camping -- the one weekend a year that we do although depending on the weather we will be driving home Friday and Saturday night to sleep.

Back to work.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Fiona
