Welcome Logan 1_2000! I do believe we will be cruise neighbors! We are in 7504 and 7506! Our son Colton will be starting 6th grade that fall and will be 11 years old! Our son Connor will be starting 4th grade and will be 9 years old! Your son will fit in nicely with ours! Can't wait to get to know you better! As the others have stated, just jump and post when you can! We are new to this too! Like you, we booked on board in December and thought we would "see" if someone had started a thread...little did we know! :earseek: They are a great bunch of people :grouphug: ...don't be shy!
I don't watch AR, but do watch American Idol. Can't wait to see what the result will be tonight. I think Scott will be gone..but who knows! I have been right every week but last week!

Make it a great day ya'll! :wave2:

What was with Scott...in his presong tape he says he was a rocker and then
that whole speech after simon said something about him. He is a rocker and he was there and the others were at home....whats with that..

I'm boycotting AI this year, I'm sure Simon is very upset that I am not watching. No one at work can believe I am not watching. After last year I made a resolutuion I was not watching anymore and have stuck to it. However, my one friend is a die hard AI watcher and she sends out an email after each episode with a complete wrap up of each singer so I do know who everyone is. My predicition is a white male as the winner. It will round out the 4 winners (white female, black male, black female). Since the best white male singer they had got away 2 years ago they need to fill in that gap.

Off my soap box.

Nancy

And before I forget: Hi Neighbor

Am I the only one who doesn't watchAmazing Race, American Idol, Survivor, and only the Season of Bachelorette where Trista did the picking (I thought she was hot until she proved to be such a Bridezilla media ho') and nothing more--well, maybe a little Next Top Model, but just for the cat fights...

Shouldn't all you who do watch those shows find something better to do...like post on DIS, obsess on cruises that don't leave for 18 months, and worry about things you can't control like weather or noisy neighbors (we heard a pretty good fight one evening last week! was shocked it did not escalate to violence!).

DW and I sat down on the Magic last week and sort of randomly ended up booking stateroom #7508 for 10/14/2006...I was just looking for lower fares than spring break or holidays, figured that even though, yes, October is hurricane season, historically most storms hit in August or September, and it is still warm in October, so we booked...little did I know we were signing up for Cruisetoberfest IV!!!

I figured I'd peruse the Cruise Meets to see IF there was a thread yet--what a laugh, right? Knew I'd stumbled into something beyond comprehension when I saw 169 pages and over 2500 posts...

So it will be myself, DW, by then mid 40's I guess instead of early 40's...DS will be 10, three months into 5th grade. It will be our 7th cruise overall, 5th DCL cruise, first Western on DCL. Since we got rained out of CC last Friday the double dip will make up for it, I suppose. All 5 DCL cruises have been/will be on Deck 7, but this will be first time Starboard, have always been Port Side in the past.

Really feel like a transfer student in the middle of the school year, everyone else has a long history together apparently and here we show up.

And hopefully by then the construction on I-75 will be wrapped up, along with the interchange from I-295 to I-95 south of Jax--the 500 mile drive took 10 hours getting home last Saturday--ugh!! For the Magic cruises we usually hit the road around 3, after school, and get as far as Jax before calling it a night, then we have a quick 2 hours and change left in the morning--got to the terminal 10:40 for embarkation on April 2nd.

So I take it that the DIS meet we just had with about 6 attendees might be dwarfed a bit by this crew? Or do they find it easier to put those who are on their first cruise in the Rockin D bar during the Castaway Club party and then just have the party all over the rest of the ship since most of the cruise looks like it will be repeaters, not just 25% like last week... :cool1:
Logan...
Welcome!!!!!
My son is 10 now, will be going into 6th grade by cruise time (OMG!!! :earseek: )

We do have a kids' cruise list (maintained by dsncruise lover), and cruise thread also ("Cruisetoberkids"). The 5th or so post on Cruisetoberkids gives instructions on getting on the kids' list.

Yes, I don't watch any of those "reality" shows. If I want to watch people bickering or getting insulted, I'll just call my ex. :rotfl:

I see on your signature that you were on the Nordic Empress in March 2001. I was on that ship, also, the last week of March that year (can't remember exact dates). We had a wonderful time, without the kids.

I also like your tag line, everything else is just a cruise...

Again, welcome & looking forward to hearing more from you.

Marianne

ok, ok I know that I probably shouldn't watch the reality shows but they are just so much fun. My vices I suppose. Jim doesn't watch any TV hardly -- only the baseball games rarely so he never knows what I'm talking about.

Don't watch AI though (or Canadian Idol either) but do indulge in AR, Survivor and The Apprentice.

Fiona

Fiona--- I read that Amazing Race is more popular in canada then AI. I am only addicted to 3 reality shows AR, Survivor and Apprentice. My other favorite TV show is 24.

Nancy

The only show that I HAVE to watch is AI. I don't watch any of the other shows. I occasionally watch Nanny 911 or Home Makeover..but that is only when I remember that it is on. Oh, and I do like to watch Overhaulin' too..but then again, not faithful to it. Mostly, I am a TV surfer, and will fall on whatever I find. Watch a lot of FoodTv too!

Love the food network. Emeril makes some good dishes.

Hope that everyone is having a good day. It is raining here off and on all day. The grass is really growing and will have to be cut again.

Fiona and Jim have a safe trip to New Hampshire and watch out for those crazy drivers. Jim I hope that Fiona has not been making you any more finger food :rotfl2: Fiona hope that the finger has healed completely.

Jenn and Peter and all that are cruising next month, be careful and have a great time.

Ave and Mary hold the fort in Panama City and don't let it wash into the gulf. Ave hope that you are doing well. Mike

Looks like I cleared up my problem. I had to clear out all of my cookies--which I didn't want to do. Now I'll have to log into every single website I belong to. :sad2:

I hope everyone had a great day today. The sun is shining & it's actually warmer than I expected. So far, it's been a nice Spring.

Welcome Logan1. You can bet there will be a better showing at your next Dis meet. We tend to overwhelm! :rotfl: So glad you and your family are joining us. Have you ever been to Panama City? I know we get a lot of Atlanta folks here on vacation.
As stated, we are a friendly. Most of us leave our guns and knives at home when we "do" Disney! But there is this one German couple that insisteson bringing Schnapps! :drinking1
What can ya do? :confused3
I have a son who will be 8 when we cruise and a daughter who will be 15. princess:

Not watching much TV these days. Lots to do. Meeting with the Builder tomorrow. :cool1: Maybe see the house get started. It's only been 4 months since we started this deal.

Later,
Avé

Welcome Logan. Don't feel bad, I get overwhelmed with this thread too! But as others have already said, just jump in whenever you want. It makes the entire experience of cruising much more fun.

I drove the motorhome ALL BY MYSELF today. It was at the dealer's since Saturday for a few "adjustments" and I got the call that it was ready for pickup. Richie took me out there and then left and after speaking with the service manager about items done, I then got into the unit and proceeded to drive home. It was fun! Even the LIE at 5:30 was fun (granted I was way out east on the island heading west so it wasn't bad on MY side of the road). Drove for about ten exits or so to home and pulled it into the driveway. Rich was so proud of me when he got home from work and saw it sitting there!

This weekend is our first camping experience. Going to county beach to camp. Hey! Arlene and Andy! If you wanna take a drive out to Smiths Point this weekend, stop by. If you no longer have my cellphone #, PM me and I'll send it to you. You'd get to see out new puppy dog too!

Happy belated birthday Bette! My mom's B-day was April 2nd and I asked her if she was 82 or 83 and she told me she was 84!!! :earseek: such a bad daughter am I.

Good job on the driving Rosemary. Enjoy your camping trip this weekend. Hope that you have a productive meeting with the builder Ave.

Arlene hope that you and Andy are doing well and that everyone is feeling better. Mike

Rich and Rosemary--- Enjoy your camping trip. I have wonderful memories of all our family camping adventures.

Norm and I are leaving this evening for a 4 day trip to Williamsburg. Our Freedom Pass will expire the end of the month so we wanted to get in one more trip before it expires. It looks like it should be a sunny weekend.

Jeanne--- How was your trip to NYC? We haven't heard from you since you came back.

Nancy

Hi Ave'

Have been to PCB almost annually since meeting DW in 1991. DW's family has had a cottage in PCB since before WWII, in Bid-a-wee, and we go every year, and when we are lucky, we get down more than once. It is still owned by her 91 year old grandmother, though the care and upkeep and bill paying have been handled by younger generations for some years now. It is not a fancy or new cottage, but I love it, and love hearing DW's stories of watching the town develop over the past 40 years (like the years before there was a supermarket on the PCB side of the bridge). Went to the farewell season of the Miracle Strip last summer, and my DFIL reports that the construction has started on the site.

Long time since I needed menus at Capn Anderson's or Angelo's, and we have added the Saltwater Grill to our family favorites list of places to go for dinner the past couple years. I love that I know where I am going to eat and what I am going to order on my summer vacation, and next summer, and the next summer...no one does grilled fresh fish like the Petronis family. And we love the ribs at Angelo's, and their chicken has the most wonderful smoky flavor.

Hey! Now I'm craving an extra trip to PCB!

Rosemary - Congrats on driving the camper. I would have been scared to do it. I was scared the first time I drove my van -- actually didn't test drive it before it was purchased! It felt huge the first time I drove it. Have a great time camping this weekend.

Ave - Hope the house building is going well.

Nancy - Have a great time in Williamsburg. Would love to visit there at some point but it's a little far for us for the weekend but it is on my list of places to go.

Survivor and Apprentice tonight!

Fiona

I'm back, I'm back...I'm just busy as can be. Our trip to NY was absolutely wonderful....with the exception of the mouse in the hotel corridor. I've stayed in many a fleabag, but that's the very first time I ever experienced a mouse in a hotel. And our room was just under $250/night and was supposed to be "superior"! It was a very interesting experience. We checked in late at night and knew something was wrong the moment we got off the elevator. It looked nothing like the beautiful lobby and very much like Tower of Terror. Everything was in total disrepair. When we turned the corridor and a mouse ran down the hall and right under the door opposite ours, i couldn't believe it. Then we opened the door to another nightmare. The beds had no covers, only sheets; the windows had no curtains, only shades that were badly torn; the switchplates were missing from several of the outlets leaving the wires exposed; the hairdryer was ripped out of the wall and there was a sleeper sofa that was so badly stained from I can only imagine what type of bodily fluid. What I soon discovered was that everyone else on that particular floor seemed to be a foreigner because when I tried to tell other boarders about the mouse nobody understood English. Talk about a caste system..... Needless to say we got upgraded to a floor 9 stories higher and when the elevator doors opened it was like stepping out into a different world. Very interesting....John took photos with his digital camera and if i can figure out how to download them maybe I can post them. You really have to see it to believe it!
Anyhow, the film fest was an incredible experience. We absolutely loved his film and were so proud, we were practically in tears. It was especially interesting because we actually saw some of the filming in Brooklyn last May. The party was not really our cup of tea, but we stayed long enough to congratulate everyone get and then headed back to the hotel. The same film is also being screened this coming weekend at the Malibu Film Fest (hosted by Pierce Broslin) along with one of his student films from AFI.
We are so excited and proud. And too bad we didn't go to that party instead...it's being catered by Wolfgang Puck. We also LOVED Spamalot. Our 2 seats were fabulous (12th row orchestra). Adam and Jenni had to sit way up high in the balcony but they were smack in the center. It was such a hoot to see such big name stars make toatl fools of themselves. I loved the ridiculous songs and the Fabio type guy who played Galahad. Then we saw Altar Boyz on Sunday and really, really enjoyed that also. It's a very high energy dance musical with just the 5 Altar Boys as the entire cast (plus a 4-person backup band). Some of the humor is very, very funny and I don't think you have to be Catholic to appreciate it.
Logan: Welcome to the party and just jump right in. You'll feel like family in no time.
Rosemary: Way to go, girl!!!!!!! I can't belive you actually drove that mother. I'm so proud of you. I'm the type of gal who sometimes has to ask a stranger to park her SUV if the space is too tight!
Survivor tonight.....YAY! When we moved, we got the cable version of TIVO, so now we never miss anything even if they change the time. I feel like we've finally entered the 21st century!

Ooooo mice in a hotel room for $250! Yuck.

Was glad to see Colby go in Survivor -- his whining was getting to me as was the sight of him in those undies.

Loved the car featured in The Apprentice and I'm definately not a car person. Can't tell one from another but did like the look of that one.

Off to bed so I can be up early for work.

Fiona

Mice in New York are one of David Lettermans favorite jokes. The only mice that I have seen in a motel are the ones in town that are serving in the state legislature.

Fiona have a safe trip this weekend, and tell Jim to stock up on hamburger helper while he is south of the border.

I guess that Anja and Eric are having a great time in Thailand now, at least we hope so.

Coby was getting so *****y on survivor that it was time for him to go.

Michelle since you guys are going to be in Bowling Green for a meet, just drive about 50 miles further south and come on down to Nashville. Mike

Or better yet Mike, you could come up to Bowling Green and find us! :rotfl: Just look for about 100 trucks and we are the one with the Stars and Stripes down the sides! We, 'er, ah, I have just about everything laid out and ready to go! Just need to do a few final touch ups to the Avalanche, load up the back and pick up the boys from school at 11! Then we'll hit the road! Here's a link in yesterday's Bowling Green Newspaper....http://www.bgdailynews.com/articles/stories/public/200504/14/0004ggss_Features.html

Ya'll have a WONDERFUL weekend and we'll see you when we get back! :wave2:
