I'm so grateful that the IT-guys in my company do a great job: We seldom have problems, but if we have them those guys bust their butts to fix them in no time. The only major problem we had in the last months was caused by an outsite contractor who shorted our power-supply when they were installing a back-up-system for aforementioned power-supply They blew up computer-hardware in excess of €40,000 ($52,000) and crippled our system for nearly 36 hours. We had parts to be flown in and our IT-guys worked around the clock to fix everything. Needless to say that theat outside contractor had to pay the bill

We are seeing the play on 3/26.Me and my sister in law used to go to Rocky Horror all the time. One time we even took my little sister-she must have been about 14 at the time. It was fun seeing all the audience members dress up. Inevitably when it gets to the floor show portion of the movie I usually fall asleep. Not that I dont enjoy the show but going to a midnight movie even when I was younger was tough..

Are those keystroke supervision tools legal in the USA? Over here they aren't - Only if there is an agreement between works council and employer some things can be supervised. Or if there is a suspicion that there is something criminal going on you may get a judge's approval to do that.

Eric--As we sign an agreement at employment that Internet use is for business use only, the firm is justified to monitor keystrokes. They also keep an archive copy of every e-mail and also every Instant Message (we have to register our screen name). Funny, though. When I need a copy of a lost e-mail, no one can seem to retrieve it for me. Why is that?

It's such a wonderful day here today.

First time in a long time.

The temperature is 6C. It's sunny. The snow is disappearing quicker than the shrimp at a free buffet. The homegrowns are out with long-sleeved tees on, but the imports are still wearing their touques, down-filled jackets and woolen mittens.

Was out to see Dr. Doom, my cardiologist, whom (I swear) was more than startled to see that I survived to see him again. He wants me to take some Nuclear Percussion test or something like that, but he said this time I have to be more 'co-operative' with the testing staff and I shouldn't be 'difficult'. I said as long as the staff speak reasonably understandable english (unlike the last time) or even can understand such basic classical medical terminology like: 1) "I'm not having chest pains". or 2) "Yes, blood is red, and it splatters when it drips from needle wounds", and my most favourite: 3) "You're hurting me, a*****e". We agreed that it may be wiser to delay the test for six months or so. (With the unspoken proviso that I live that long.)

Despite Dr. Doom's best efforts, I left there in a rather excellent mood. I then went to the nearest Burger King and scarfed a Whopper with rings and fries (in order to increase my cholesterol count up to at least 1 or 2), drove to the nearest Tim Horton's and got a coffee and chocolate-dipped donut and drove home.

I'm being taken out for supper tonight so the limited supply of Hamburger Helper won't be affected.

I'm about five minutes from my afternoon nap....

Some days it doesn't get any better than this.

we have a Company Agreement about Internet Use as well, but the company is not allowed to use keystroke tracking. They may keep a log of sites visited, but this may only be evaluated with the presence of the Works Council. I was a member of the Works Council for about six years and even its President for some time, but I can only remember one case where we had to use it: An employee was suspected of stealing data - Unfortunately this was come up positive, fortunately it was discovered before he could cause harm.
But we have filters prohibiting access to i.e Ebay, everything containing nudity, violence, etc. And Instant Messaging is not permitted. Private use is only allowed during breaks, and emails using our LotusNOtes may be read by the company.

do you know the difference between a Physician, a Surgeon, and a Pathologist?

-The physician knows everything, but is all thumbs.

Tracy - if you IT guy is in Sudbury and won't be home til tomorrow night we work in the same company. We've had a number of IT guys it seems and not one of them is useful.

This computer problem has to be fixed though because it's going to start really interfering with work. But now we wait for the guy to get back from Sudbury (which is the ends of the earth btw although it does have a nickel mine you can tour).

At least I can still dis though.

To all, Steve is having his Lasik surgery on Thursday, so tomorrow we'll be driving to Columbus, Oh. On Friday we'll be traveling to my Parent's in Cleveland, Oh. I know the hotel has wireless internet, but I just don't know how often I'll be able to get on to it! I plan to take the boys to COSI and swimming while Steve recovers. I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy! I hope the Easter Bunny is good to you! Have a blessed Easter Holiday!

Went to pre-op for my surgery today. I have to be there at 6am on Monday. Should be home by noon. Then I get to rest in bed for a week before returning to work.

We closed on our "house" yesterday. Which means the builder will be able to start construction. I'm not holding my breath. But I am starting to get a little excited.

Good luck Steve. You're braver than me. Tracy glad that it went well. Wish I had enough nerve to get it done. Oh well.

Have to go for blood tests for my quarterly doctor's appointment - I think I'll go Thursday morning which is probably as late as I can push it. Not looking forward to the dr's appointment cause my prediction is that I'll just get at least one of my prescriptions upped, he won't spend even 5 minutes with me and he will ask nothing. I'm going to ask him to refer me to something else but Jim tells me to consider myself lucky to get to a specialist. Lucky is winning the lottery.

Loved Amazing Race this week - thought it was really, really funny when Rob and Amber got onto the plane and then won. Was glad to see that Alex and Lynn came in 5th - they might do better if they concentrated on doing well rather than on beating Rob and Amber. Like the fact that the older couple are still in it.

This just in from my 23 yr-old daughter......"Gee Mom, Easter will be so much fun this year....since we'll be in the new house we'll have all new hiding places for the eggs!"
Well, I just stopped dead in my tracks for a moment or two. And then I delivered the proclamation: EASTER IS OFFICIALLY CANCELLED (not postponed, CANCELLED) IN OUR HOUSEHOLD THIS YEAR! I will go to Mass, but that's it. No candy shopping, no big Easter dinner, no Easter baskets, no egg dying and no Easter egg hunt! The movers come tomorrow and I'm frantic! After that, we need to borrow a neighbor's truck so we can get my old washer/dryer to my daughter's home (3 hr.round trip) and then use it to haul away lots of stuff to the dump. Then, we have to return for the final touch-ups and cleaning ( this is an over 4,000 sq ft house, remember). So that's why Easter is cancelled! Once I log off today, I'll be down for a few days, so here's wishing a happy Easter to all those of you for whom the holiday is NOT cancelled. Wish me luck getting through the rest of this week. When I come back my address will be different.
Oh, and I hope I don't forget to exhume St Joseph!
