Eric, that was $400,000! Not $40,000. In Charleston $40,000 might buy you a mobile home :teacher:

More packing today :sad2: DH leaves Wednesday for FL with our boat and canoes.1 week from today we will be renting a 25ft truck! Then the REAL fun begins :rotfl2:

Ooops, I meant to write 400K. 40K gets you a mailbox in Frankfurt :rotfl2:

Thanks for sending The List to Tracey, Mike.
From next edition on it will be PDFs for everyone as this facilitates logistics.

We had some nightfrost again last night. Neighbours had to scrape it off their windshield - I had our remote-controlled heater doing the job :teeth: But now we have blue skies and 10°C/50°F+ again.

Nearly forgot to mention it: Gramps is fine and says Hi & Thanks to everyone for their good wishes. We watched African Queen, starring Bogart and Hepburn, on Friday. And a private video taken by his Nephew from Australia who made a trip to NewZealand. He sent his travel-video as a DVD. It was fun to hear his comments as he left Germany as a 10 year old and now speaks German with the local dialect from Frankfurt AND an Australian accent.

Mike - we would have to find our grass before we'd even think about mowing it. There is a little patch visible between the snow just around the maple tree in our front yard. Otherwise it's white.

Where I work is a little warmer than home although I don't really know why but there is a lot less snow here and it's a bit warmer. It's to go up to 5C here.

Back to work.

Fiona

I gotta start posting as I read!

I can't even find my last post on this thread!!

I do know I want to congrat Mary on the home sale and Nancy with her son's award and Jeanneg also with her son's film showing. Jean - When did you say you would be in NYC? Was it April 1? I was thinking of going into city for the day and perhaps we could meet up for a short while just to meet and say hi. Let me know. Or, was in April 8th? Either way, as long as the weather is nice, I can go in.

We will be getting the motor home on Friday!!! :Pinkbounc Made some revisions to our vacation days planned so that our July/August trip can be extended. Ave and papa - sending out PM's your way shortly. Be on the lookout.

Sad time today. My laptop that slid 40 feet on the road decided it would die today :confused3 . Heard a sizzle, screen went black and hard drive said clunk, clunk :badpc: . It is graveyard dead. Probably will get a mac mini to use with Kathy's work until I can get another powerbook. Mike

Are you sure it's dead? Maybe if we all send some pixie dust it will get better?? *~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

If not, may your laptop RIP!

oh....
sorry...
you did say that in the first posting...
I musta missed it...
somehow.....

**The sounds of Taps softly plays off in the distance**

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Mike,
sorry to hear about your iBook :sad2: I hope you have a back-up of your data.

Fiona,
I felt the first pangs of hayfever yesterday - So spring has definitely arrived. Must be either hazelnut or birch - or both.
Even drove to work with the top down today at 6°C/46°F and clear blue skies. Forecast says 17°C/63°F later today :bounce: :bounce: Will finish work at 2pm today, Anja has a day off and as my partner will be leaving for a two week vacation on Wednesday this will be my last chance to leave early before we take off to Thailand.

Eric - sorry, can't feel for you with hayfever. If you were here you wouldn't be suffering. :goodvibes Yesterday I think it went up to 5C so a lot of snow melted but there's still a ways to go before it's all gone. Can see part of the yard though and some brown stuff that might eventually turn into grass!

Am so glad it's a four day week this week.

Mike - sorry about your computer.

Mary - how's the packing going? Can't believe how quick your closing is, most up here are about a month or two.

Well must get ready for work - Jim is driving me as he wants the car today.

Fiona

Mike ....

Is It related to the Tumble ??? You Think ??

Peter

'Morning Eric, Fiona and Peter.

You guys have a great day. (Hope the hayfever is under control today, Eric).

Oh crap, I just typed a LONG reply and somehow lost it!
Rosemary: In a nutshell........we arrive Friday 4/8 in the evening. Taking the airport shuttle to somewhere midtown. We'll probably select a hotel between 23rd St where the Film Fest is and Times Square so we can catch some theatre. We leave late in the evening Sunday 4/10. Would LOVE to meet, but thinking it's probably better to try to arrange something early in the day. Breakfast, brunch? Is that doable? No trip to NY is complete without a visit to Veneiro's (11th between 1st and 2nd). Have you been there? If Adam goes back early on Sunday, we may also have time that day. Just let me get "the move' behind me and then maybe we can work something out.
Arlene: I must have deleted my NYTimes info on Spamalot.......when does it begin playing? Have you heard anything positive or negative about Altar Boyz......I've gotten several promos and it sounds like a riot!

We got new computers and system yesterday at work. Tell me why cant they leave us alone-it takes so much to get used to all new programs and applications - only to do the same stuff we used to do only much harder and more steps to do. Of course the people who brought in the new system were only here for 1 day when we first became live so on the second day we all were lost...so much for progress.. besides we went from a 21 inch monitor to a 19 inch and that means the same info needs to be cramped into smaller areas...good for those who are blind.....

Jeanne: Who are the alter boys...Spamalot opened last week and got rave reviews..

Arlene :cat:

Arlene - feel your pain about offices and computers. I think they upgraded our modem about 4 weeks ago now and it's been nothing but a headache. We have a network too so they did something with that. The one program that I have to use daily requires the internet to be working perfectly. Unfortunately it's not and keeps cutting out. The computer person in our office isn't affected and doesn't care. It's been a thrill. Stuff that should take 10 minutes is taking 3 hours to do.

Fiona

Arlene: Altar Boyz is a musical parody along the lines of Avenue Q (and I guess, Spamalot). To quote the NY Times "It is the hilarious account of a struggling Christian boy-band (with one nice Jewish boy) looking for their big break in the Big Apple."
Their names are Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham and the show includes musical numbers such as "Girl, You Make Me Wanna Wait" and "Jesus Called Me on My Cell Phone". It sounds exactly like my kind of humor!!!!!!!! Tickets are $39.95 though my NYT link so we're thinking that might be a good one. I absolutely loved Avenue Q! When do you see Spamalot? I'm a big Tim Curry fan so that's also a possibility. Did you ever do RHPS? I took my kids when they were in about middle school and could not believe how raunchy it had gotten. Not a good move on my part.....especially since we had the son of the school's vice-principal with us because he was having a sleepover with one of my kids. Still cringe every time I think of it!
