DAy 2 - Nassau

We received a wake up call from Mickey around 7am. We were doing the Dolphin Encounter Excursion at Blue Lagoon and had to be ready to go by 9:15.

We headed to Tritons for breakfast. Fruit loops without milk was the standard children's breakfast for 4 days. The wait staff could not get over the kids eating cereal without milk. In our house, it is everyday life.

I thought the excursion was very well organized and was the highlight of the trip for both hubby and myself. I also thought that the Dolphin Encounter staff were very professional even when my 4 1/2 year old freaked out when first entering the water. If you think about it, the dolphin was bigger than him and it would be rather scary for someone 40 inches tall.

We purchased the complete photo album and the video. The kids love watching the video and I love the album. Both were well worth the money. The album is the one thing that I purchased that I treasure from the trip. Also, since we purchased the album, we spent more time with the dolphins because they had to get more pictures of us... a definite plus.

Overall, Blue Lagoon was such a beautiful place. We found a couple of spots where there were just a few people around. Being from Southern California, there are few beaches where one can go and have that feeling of aloneness. I truly appreciated Blue Lagoon and would love to go back one day.

As for the hair-braiders and sellers, both hubby and I did not think they were that pushy. In Tijuana, the people will chase you down the street trying to sell their items. Hence the selling in Nassau was nothing compared to what we have experienced.

We arrived back to the ship around four o'clock. We relaxed, ordered a cheese plate and got ready for dinner at Parrot Cay. I thought the food wasn't that great but the kids loved the limbo dancing.

We dropped the kids off at the Oceaneer's Lab that night but my older son did not really warm up to the club until our last day. The 4 1/2 year old didn't want to leave but my oldest has always been a "challenging" child. The oldest is basically very shy and unsure when put into large groups.

Hubby and I went to the ESPN Bar for a while. We just sat down to watch, "Match Your Mate", when the page came. I was disappointed, but hubby and I sat on the verandah and talked for a hour. I am so glad we had our space.

DAY 3 - Castaway Cay

We woke up around 9am---still on CAlifornia time--- and went to Triton's for breakfast. We only ate at Triton's because it was the one place we could sit down and be served. That is very important to me with young children.

We headed out to the island around 11 am. We walked all the way down the beach to the end of the island where there were fewer people.

We saw some fish come out of the water which was pretty cool. The water was very blue and I did some swimming that day. The Konk Koolers where terrific as well. However, being from Southern CA and living 10 minutes from the beach, I do not think that any of us were overwhelmed by Castaway CAy. Honestly, when I looked at the crowd on the beach, I thought it was a July 4th weekend in California---a weekend we NEVER go to the beach because of the crowds. I saw three people get stung by jellyfish which freaked me out. I also saw two boys get sea lice. We stayed about 3 hours, maybe less, and headed to the goofy pool. I think I might be too spoiled to appreciate CAstaway Cay.

Hubby went for his massage and facial (don't tell anyone, it is soooo unmanly in his mind). And, I had the Seaweed aromatherapy wrap. I loved the massage. I won't do the seaweed again. It is always nice to be pampered.

That night was Triton's for dinner. I thought the food was wonderful, delicious, great! I had the lamb shank and really enjoyed the meal. After tritons we went to Disney Dreams. At the end when Mickey Mouse stepped on the stage, my oldest son's mouth dropped open and he gasped in surprise. I looked over at him and my eyes welled up with tears.

After the show, we took the kids to the Lab hoping they would stay and watch some movies. It was 70's night and I wanted to relive my youth. Yes, I admit it. I am a recovering Disco Queen. I do relapse when I hear "Ring MY Bell" or "Shake Your Booty".

The dance started at 10:45pm and the page came about 11:10. Hubby went and got the kids and I danced by myself for a little bit. I guess dancing the night away like I did 25 years ago was not in my present, just my past!

I met hubby out on the verandah. I called him John Travolta and we called it a night.

Hi Rose! I enjoyed your trip report. It was so nice to meet you and your family and was hoping to see you at the MNSSHP to say goodbye. I am glad you had a nice trip.

Hey Maureen!

It was great meeting you and your family as well. I wish we could have spent more time with everyone. Both hubby and I felt like we missed out on getting to know some great people. We will have to plan a trip without kids for a 10 year reunion.

Tell Frank I said "Gooooooooooo Yankees!"

All my best
Rose
