A little help needed for some shopping. Can you give me your top three gift ideas for a 10/11 year old boy. No video games, price range $10-$25 per item.

Any input is appreciated!

Legos - Knex

science kits - Wild Planet spy gear

board game - battleship?

My 11 year old still like Bionicles, don't know if all 11 year olds still play with them, but mine loves them. How about laser tag? Car models? I'm sure I'll think of more as soon as I hit the submitt button. :)

my 11 yr old would love anything
science related - books, kits
headlamp type flashlight
binoculars
K'nex, Magnetics, Legos
Magic Tricks
ball - football, soccer, anything nerf - if it shoots nerf darts he'll love it more
inexpensive tennis racket
if parents ok - pocket knife/leatherman - the more gadgets the better
Worst Case Scenario game

There is a book called Yuck - it covers subjects like snot - 11 yr old boys love to talk/read about snot and other gross things
If you want a more socially acceptable book - any of the Usborne illustrated guides; Sciencesaurus; Mammal encyclopedia - my son choose this with his BOrders gift card - great color pictures & a paragraph or two about every animal on the planet.

My Little boy almost 10 loves model cars and NASCAR books. Really anything NASCAR. He also still plays with his hot wheels. He likes legos too. HTH!!!

The trend around here is to give Visa, Target or Sports Authority gift cards. Around here, you can pick them up in your local grocery store. That way the birthday kid can go out and get that expensive sports gear, the video game, or whatever he wants.

I at first thought it was tacky - no thought put into it. Then my kid got a couple hundred dollars in gift cards (an average of $10 - $25, mostly $10 and $15 in gift cards). Was he ever excited to go shopping for that one expensive thing he really wanted.

And then a homemade card. The kids here LOVE to make cards for each other. The sillier the better.

This is so right!! My son still has gift cards from last birthday. They seem to want to hang onto them but also have alot of fun spending them.

My DD and her friends, boys and girls, liek that hand held 20 questions..only about $10 and they like the Deal or No Deal DVD board game.

Legos, Legos, and more Legos!

DS just turned 10 and he got soooo many Legos for his birthday! If you check out the lego site you can see all the different types they have to offer. Toys R Us has some on sale right now and Target usually has pretty good prices.

I second that suggestion. My whole family likes to play the 20 questions hand held game. "How does it know what you're thinking?!"

I have a 12 year old, he liked any type of Board Games, but Clue is his favorite.
Woodburning kit!
DVD's

:confused3 need to know more about the boy!

my son likes shirts with funny sayings. Target has them. "I didn't do it."
"You can have my sister" and so forth. Sports equipment:basketball, a better quality one that won't peel or split quickly. Funny books:Garfield comics, Simpsons comics, Calvin and Hobbes. Bookstores have them and they range from $9 to $25 depending on their thickness and your willingness to spend.

My ds (10) is young for his age but he still likes to have action figures. He is getting some Star Wars ones for Christmas to line up on his shelf.

He also LOVES Legos. Any Legos set would make him happy. K'Nex and/or a model car or plane would be a good choice.

My ds likes to read, and he'd be happy getting books. The Hardy Boys series is his current favorite.

As for board games, Stratego and Battleship are his among favorites, with Clue and Uno in the running. He'd probably say that Disney Scene It is his all-time favorite game. I've been eyeing Risk for a gift possibility. I've never played it, and it looks a little complicated to me. I might wait a year or 2 to buy that one. One of my friend's sons loves a card game called Loot, but we don't have it yet.

DVDs are good gifts, too. My ds likes old Disney classics, like That Darn Cat (he  Haley Mills LOL), Angels in the Outfield, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again, etc.

DS10 is crazy about Legos, and Bionicles in particular. Action figures, from movies like Star Wars, Spiderman, etc., are also good.

My 11 year old has on his list this year:

XBox game
fitted baseball hat
money

He isn't big into legos but my 14 year old was/is. They both would like gift cards too.

Self teaching chess set, backgammon set, Risk game

pogo stick

legos

metal detector (these are surprisingly inexpensive these days)

If you don't know the kid then I would suggest I-tunes Gift Card or some other gift card. Boys that age have lots of different interest and while one boy may like board games the other might be into sports etc..

"Monster House" and "Over the Hedge" are good movies too. I second a "clue" game--my oldest wiped out 2 Clue games in his lifetime, just used them up. A very cool flashlight. Weather-science kit.
