Immediate group: me32, DH37, DD3, & DS4 - childrens only experience with rides until now have been limited to mall coin operated and a local zoo's train ride. They were told several months in advance that we would be going to see Mickey and gang and tried to attempt to give them some idea of what to expect. Driving round trip from MA to WDW and back (ha-ha)
10/1 - Pulled out of the driveway (we borrowed my inlaws Buick LeSabre for the drive) got 1/2 mile down the road and DD rolls the automatic window down only to have it jump off it's track and can't get it up now!!! Great this is not looking good. We turn around, go back to the inlaws house and end up duck taping the window shut for the duration of the trip....as my husband says it is McGyvered until we return and they can bring it to the shop. Get ready to go as a coke explodes in my DH lap - oh boy it's going to be a long drive!!! Finally get onto the pike at 4:50PM - plan is to drive straight through till we hit WDW!!! Amazingly enough the kids do awesome!!! We brought coloring supplies and I had a whole travel bag full of goodies but I never needed it. They were content to watch DVD's on my girlfriends borrowed DVD player - I must thank her later in a big way! Drive takes us 23 hours with potty breaks, gas stops, and a couple stops to just get out and stretch. Easy ride with little to no traffic, no tolls, and no weather concerns. Pull into All Star Sports on 10/2 around 4:00PM - 1 day early!!!
10/2 - Check into resort where we have been told we can stay in the same room for the duration of the trip - great news as I figured we would have to only unpack an overnight bag and switch rooms in the morning. We go to the room, unpack the luggage and decide to go to DTD for Dinner. We get sandwiches, fruit, chips, and drinks at Earl of Sandwich (heard great reviews on here) and are not dissappointed at all! These sandwiches are great!!! Warm, fresh, and very filling. My kids split a cannonballs, dh had a Montagu - roast beef, turkey, lettuce, tomatoe, and a dressing, and I had a chicken ceasar salad tossed fresh in front of me with a fruit cup and chips and drinks. Price wise not too bad either. Very satisfied and will definitely return here. We all head to bed early as we were up pretty much all night and plan to take it easy for the next 2 days.
10/3 - Check out and check back in - same room number but they have to now issue us our passes and dining cards (we got the free dining promotion that they offered for the rest of the trip) Return to the room where DH & kids are awaiting. We get ready and head to Typhoon Lagoon to relax and enjoy the water park. Beautiful weather and kids are revving to go. We get into our car and drive to TL and set up our towels on chairs and stake our spot for the day. Grab lunch at TL - basically burgers and chicken nuggets, I get another Ceasar Salad - this time with dining plan so it was a test drive for me. Everything sailed smoothly - 4 CS used w/o a hitch and they gave us plastic coins to go back and get our ice creams at a later point in our day which we used right before we left the park. Great fun had here - kids loved the kiddie are including a boat where they could aim water blasts at each other and "attack" the boat. We return to our room around 5:00 and get cleaned up and dressed for our dinner reservation at Whispering Canyon at 8:00. We piled back into the car and headed over to Wilderness Lodge. Checked in at the podium and let the kids play with lincoln logs to their hearts content. My dh is a man who likes to be left alone while eating so not sure how this place will go over (hope he doesn't ask for ketchup!). We are seated in about 15 minutes and Bobby the kid is our server. Totally into the part complete with riding high chairs and getting into the aura of the place. We all ordered the all you can eat skillet and loved the whole meal!! Again a place we will add to a now growing list of favorites!! The kids get in on the pony rides and have a blast - never did end up needing the ketchup! We head back to the resort and take a dip in the Surfs up pool before heading to bed. Kids a tuckered out and fall off in about 2 seconds as do DH & I.
