WELCOME LAURA AND FAMILY

Laura--- I am one of the other nurses in the group. Don't worry about reading all this thread you will get to know all of us. The list does help to keep everyone straight. However, I still have problems at time with the two NC girls (jeanniec and jeanneg) keeping them straight. Just hop in any time and post as much as you want.

Which reminds me.......there was a funny article in today's newspaper which said we should amend our state slogan "First in Flight" to include "Second in Everything Else" e.g. Carolina Panthers, Clay Aiken, John Edwards, etc. Oh well, I thought it was cute.........

I thought that was so cute. However, Clay will always be my #1.

Twins---- Have a wonderful time on your mini vacations. Wish I was going with you.

MaryJo--- Thanks for the newspaper article.

Cathy--- Loved the valentine. Thanks so much our resident craftperson.

Watched American Idol last night and will be seeing the result show tonight. Tough decision on who will be staying. There was alot of talent in that group. Wonder if all the groups will be that good. I didn't vote, I don't have a favorite yet. So probably won't be voting till we get to the final 12 or maybe for the wild card. And yes Scooter Girl can come back as a Wild Card.

Been busy week at work so far.

Nancy

Laura -- I didn't even the notice the RN at the end of your name. I am also one of the other nurses. I work at Presbyterian in Charlotte. Don't do patient care any more, tho. I fight insurance companies all day long trying to get them to pay. Are you working currently?

Nancy -- I was surprised at how talented last night's group on Idol was, and I, too, am wondering if the rest of the groups will be that good. And --- are you sure that Scooter Girl can come back as a wild card? There was some dissenting discussion about that a while ago. I would like to see her have a chance at the big prize.

Welcome Laurarn! You will have a lot of fun on the cruise.

Looking forward to meeting you and your family.

Renee'

You guys are so sweet! Jeanniec-I currently work at CMC and Lake Norman PRN. I did a short externship in "Presby's" NICU a few years ago. Its fun to know that there's alot of fellow nurses onboard. :Pinkbounc

Viking- I almost missed your reply. Yes, I speak some of the language although its been awhile. Luckily, We didn't hibernate on post while we were there. We lived with a German family on their second floor apartment about 10 miles from post. The husband spoke some English and the wife, none. We were very close with them and Opi and Oma and still keep in touch. We used every opportunity to travel and learn the language and customs. I still feel confident today that I can rent a car and get(and understand) directions, and rent a room at a guesthouse and order a meal. It brings back wonderful memories. In fact, our son has duel citizenship since he was born in a German hospital. (during Gulf War I-families had to use the German facilities, so they could keep the beds open at Nurnberg hospital for the soldiers in Iraq). We also have family in the Sulz region...my grandparents were born in Germany. So, my mom's aunt and cousins still live there and we keep in touch with them also. I hope someday to visit over there again.
Regards,
Laura

Kim,
I haven't realized that until now: You're Irish!!

Here's my favourite Irish-German joke:
What do you get when you mix Irish and German?

I am sure I will moan & groan with the answer... So tell me what do you get when you mix Irish & German ??????

I will have a sleepless night waiting for the answer..

Bye, Kim

Welcome Laura and family, My dear wife is also an RN in the NICU, she had been doing that for 20 years.

Have to run as we have nurses notes and visits to put in the computer. Mike

Welcome Laura and family. I also have a 13y/o and a 6 y/o. I am alos a nurse, (LPN). Currently working in Internal Med, and a side job with developmentally disabled adults. We have done a Cat. 9, a Cat. 6, and this time a Cat. 11. Loved the verandah, but would rather do without it then do without the cruise.:hyper:

We are heading to Disney tomorrow. And unfortunatly my DD's friend and her mom will not be coming with us. Pam (the mom) is sick, and doesn't want to go. I am very disappointed, sad, and upset. I am also out the $120 deposit I used my credit card to reserve thier room. "No good deed....." :(

Hope to hook up with Amy and Chris (Alikatt99) on Sat. at Epcot.

Fiona, cold and raining here all week. :p

Night all.
Later, Ave'

jeanniec--- Entertainment tonight had a segment on Scooter Girl on Tuesday evening and they said she could come back as a Wild Card. Apparently last year, Trenyce was a wild card invited back who wasn't in the orginal 32. No suprise for me regarding who advanced tonight. (I won't mention who moved on incase there are some people who taped the show and didn't watch it yet)

I had a really hard time getting online tonight through aol. So will sent this message quickly before I get booted off again.

Nancy

Actually, I'm mostly working Mother-Baby and Level 1/Level 2 nursery. I love it. NICU is an area I'd like to try someday when my kids are older. Their schedules have me so busy right now.

I want to thank all of you again for making this "newbie" feel so welcome. My DS enjoyed reading all your posts with me today. I wasn't sure if he'd be excited about going again, but he said "definitely!" He just turned 13 and looks forward to checking out the teen club (the Stack?) this time around.

Hallo Laura,
sehr schön, daß Du deutsch sprichst!! Dann sind wir nicht alleine auf dem Schiff :D

The last time we also had a Kids' List, perhaps your DS would be interested in starting one this year? Especially for the kids it's nice to already have friends on the ship when boarding. If he wants to do it and needs help, just tell him to get in touch with me.

Welcome LauraRN. I am also a nurse (LPN) working in OB/Gyn at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Eric...LOVED the joke! Since I am German/Irish, I am a living example of it!:jester:

Ave, sorry the trip with your friend didn't work out. :( It's good the girls didn't know the plans. Can the daughter still go??Since you will lose the deposit anyway, why not get the 2nd room for a night?

LAST day of work before our trip to HH! YIPEE!:bounce:

Ave -- too bad about Pam being sick. I'd have to be pretty sick to put off going to Disney I have to admit. Have a good trip anyway.

Mary -- you have a good trip too.

Chance of snow flurries for us today. :p

Must get DS up and hope he catches his bus this morning. He didn't yesterday.

Fiona

Peter, I sent you and Jenn a PM this morning.

Bye, Kim

Ja, ja, ich auch verstehe!!!!!!! OMG, I'm so proud of myself......I could actually understand what you guys were writing. I only had one semester of German in college and I thought it was long dead, but I guess not. I can't speak it to save my life, but I do remember all the curse words very well!

Welcome, Laura, my fellow North Carolinian!

Wow, I've been busy the past few days and had about 3 pages to catch up on!

About American Idol.....apparently anyone from any of the auditions can return. At least that was what I understood Simon to say on Tuesday night. And I agree with the comment someone else made......the level of talent seemed to be very high, which was not what we saw during the previous elimination rounds. In fact, I thought each and every one of them did a really superb job.
Now I'm curious about last year's show......I came in towards the middle of the season and I knew that Clay was a wildcard, but was he in the final 32 or picked from an earlier audition? Anybody know?

Eric: about the photo.......I don't have scanning capabilities so I'll need to snail-mail one to you. Please send me your home address via pm or personal email. Thanks!

Survivor tonight!!!!!!!! I need an Ethan-fix!!!!!! (I'm just so happy my hubby doesn't read these posts!) Looks like it's going to be a good one. Gotta go......I have an appointment with the dental hygienist, which I am completely dreading (sorry, Jen)

andy knows how much i love brad pitt so he jokingly alway said that he would by a poster to put over our bed. you didnt see me complain too much.

no it was never done.....
