Ave our kids had that and it was no fun. Good luck:wave:

Renee when Kathy and I go to DC we usually stay at the red roof inn in Alexandria , VA and ride the metro into DC. After 9:30am you can get a five dollar ticket and ride the metro all day long. You can swap lines and board as many times as you like. One word of caution though. Get out of DC before rush hour!!!!

Mike

When are you guys going to D.C.? Perhaps it may correspond with our Florida trip and we could meet ya. We have the wedding on April 3rd and plan to hit WDW on the 4th in the evening. We plan to leave Florida and head north on April 9th - Easter weekend. Oh - I guess you won't be planning any meet on Easter weekend. :(

Pixie Dust to Casey *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
But what's Fifth's disease

6 to 8'' of snow tonight and more predicted for early afternoon. Fortunately our D.O.T. regulations say, that every inch of Autobahn must be cleared within max 2 hours. As they head ample warning the guys driving ploughs and salters did a great job and cleared the Autobahn I have to use in time for the rush-hour. I could only drive between 45 and 75 mph and needed about 10 minutes more than usual, but that I can live with.

Eric: I'm really having a chuckle over the disparity between our 2 situations......you had 6-8 inches of snow and managed to get rid of it within 2 hours; we had 4 inches Sunday morning and the schools are still closed today! This morning I was determined to get out so my girlfriend and I drove to the Y for our usual 8 a.m cycling class. Well, we pulled into the parking lot (which was a solid sheet of ice) and discovered that they too were closed! When will it end?! Futhermore, all this talk about travel has really given me wanderlust.......

Ave: sorry that your son is not feeling well. Our kids had that one year when we did their Christmas photos and all you notice about the pictures are their blazing red cheeks!

BYE Jen is making me go to florida ......

Bette smokinjoe's rib rub got it.....

jeanneg -- Have to laugh also. Although our snow is not cleared as quickly as in Germany it is cleared fast. Our roadways are completely clear now although Toronto received about 30cm of snow (almost a foot) on Tuesday and Wednesday. Although school busses were cancelled on Tuesday and night school was also cancelled Monday night and Tuesday night that was about it. In the west end of the city schools were closed on Tuesday but that's about it. My DS is in the middle of exams this week so it didn't really affect him. He wrote his last exam on Friday and so got this week off.

Unfortunately didn't get any snow days this week although the firm I work for doesn't close for anything -- we were open Jan 2/04. I and most of the staff weren't here but the firm was still open.

Bright and sunny today although there's a wind that's blowing the snow around.

Peter -- I think next time you go to Florida you should have to take all of us. :bounce:

Back to work. :(

Fiona

WOW !!!Peter is going to Flordia again?

Gosh, where in Flordia is he going ??? :rotfl:

Bette

Anywhere in Florida is warmer than here!

Was just reading the thread about the increase in the cost of Palo -- now $10/person for dinner. Jim and I have decided to skip it this cruise so now we are saving even more money for BINGO.

Almost time to go home which is good because I am starving. Wasn't that hungry at lunch but now? am starving. Could be the lack of Florida sunshine and I'm suffering withdrawal.

Fiona

Eric, thanks for the pixie dust for Case. Fifth's Disease is a viral infection. Very common in children, lots of kids get it and never even know they have it. Sometimes there are no symptoms. But they can get an all over body rash, and very red checks. The rash sort of fades and flares, kids have fever, and itching, and just don't feel good. It is contaigious, so no school until the rash and fever are gone. Luckily my boss lets me bring him to work with me. We have a playroom/bedroom upstairs, so he can nap, or play, or hang out in the kitchen.
Almost finished with my taxes. Just waiting for one more W-2.
Fiona, hang in there, Spring is on it's way!
jeanneg, are you out yet? Is school going to open tomorrow? Or are they going to wait till Monday?
Going to Disney in 2 weeks!::MickeyMo
Can't wait!
Later, Ave'

Hi Guys this is Kim here....

Well finally some GOOD news. My boss has decided to go into a partnership ( of sorts) with another small business so my job is safe for the time being. We most likely will give the new partnership a year to work before any changes occur.

Since I am now somewhat secure for employment I went ahead and made reservations for us to stay in Orlando for 5 nights after the cruise :boat:. I decided to take a gamble after peter wrote about his success on Hotwire and try for reservations, we made out really well... We are planning to drive down to orlando this october so we will not have the cost of a car rental either. We will stay at the Grosvenor Resort at the Disney Village for 5 nights for
$ 242.00 total including all taxes, the cheapie Disney hotels would be $ 119.00 a night plus tax.

So for now I can stop worrying about where the next dollar comes from and concentrate on the trip and finishing the house...

Guess I should get to work now...

Bye, Kim :jumping2::jumping2::jumping2:

P.S. If anyone is interested in trying to get a reservation at the Grosvenor let me know and I will tell you what codes I looked at to score this resort.

Well, they FINALLY opened the schools (with a delayed start time, no less!) I never saw my son so happy to be back.......except for last night when he was scrambling at the last minute to get his homework done! I'm sure you can imagine the few choice words I had for him!
Kim: congratulations on knowing that you still have a job. I'm happy for you, but sad we won't be staying at the Hyatt together!

Kim -- What great news! So glad that you will be joining us for sure now!! Bette -- parasailing is just waiting for you. :Pinkbounc

It's still winter here -- snow flurries this morning. Afraid that spring is a couple of months away yet but oh well it will come eventually. At least it's Friday. :p

Not sure if we are going to stay after the cruise but probably will for a couple of days b/c we'd like to hit MNSSHP again and the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. The Monday after the cruise is Thanksgiving here in Canada so have that day off anyway. Probably won't take too much time off before the cruise so vacation days won't be a problem. I'll be gone over the end of a month so that might pose a slight problem but so far my secretary hasn't realized this. ;)

Must get some work done. Have to proofread a document -- boring and tedious but has to be done and hey it's paying for part of the cruise so I guess I'll have to do it.

Fiona - I totally agree with you about skipping Palo and playing Bingo. The only thing we'll probably do is get the souffle to go so we can still have that yummy dessert!

Renee'

Congrats Kim! We're very glad that you and Bette are definitely coming with us. Dinner wouldn't be the same without you two.

BTW - We're staying in Orlando until Oct. 13. We're hoping that there will be a MNSSHP during that time that we'll be able to go to. We also want to take Haley to Universal to see Barney (ugh!) and do some kiddie stuff there.

Hi Guys, This is Kim again...

I heard this place being discussed on " that other cruise board" and looked it up. You can by a day pass for around $ 30.00 .The people who went to this resort for the day gave it high marks, we will give it some thought...

Bye, Kim

Clearing the streets from snow in two hours doesn't work out always: Last night a couple of hundreds of motorist spent up to 12 (Twelve!!!) hours on an Autobahn in Northwestern Germany: Some je*ks on summer tyres on semis drove onto the Autobahn in spite of ample warnings. The trucks started sliding, then jack-knife and that was it. Tow-trucks, snow-ploughs and fire-engines needed the whole night to clear up that mess. The Red Cross and the ADAC (German equivalent to AAA) supplied the stranded motorists with blankets, hot drinks and food and everybody made it through the night.

Ave,
the German term for Casey's ailing is "Röteln" and I can definitely affirm that it is contagious: In 1991 my little niece gave it to me. As I was 27 then it hit me kind of hard - as usual when adults are hit by a so-called children's disease. But the worst thing was, that on the two days before it broke out I taught a class of 20 flight attendants - all female!!! As the disease is also very contagious before showing symptoms it caused some heavy concern, but fortunately most young women in Germany are vaccinated (correct expression  ) against it due to the risk of miscarriage or deformation of the fetus if the infection takes place during pregnancy.
Please tell Casey that I feel with him and that a GameBoy may help him through it- At least it worked for me ;)

Renee - I'm with you on the souffle. That was the best part of the meal.

Kim - Looked at the site and that actually looks like a great way to spend the day. We haven't decided what we are going to do yet but that will be up for consideration.

Snowing here at the moment. Really quite windy too so that makes it cold. According to the website provided by Kim it's 81F in Antigua. I want to be there.

Back to work.

Fiona

Hey Kim - thanks for the website. Did you see those pictures of the beach? Wow, it looks beautiful. This might be something to consider. Looks nice and relaxing.

I'm with you Fiona, I want to be there now!

Renee'

Kim and Bette Mom so glad that you both are able to go with us again.

I am losing some weight and maybe I will be able to mojo a little better on this cruise.

Eric saw the stranded motorists on the evening news tonight on the German Autobahn. Mike
