This is the man I spoke about the last time I posted on this thread. I think he just decided we looked like a jolly group and decided to join us. Or, maybe he really is one of us but I don't believe I met him.

(BTW - Bettemom/Kim - Link you sent me regarding Bernie's vacation photos only had you guys at Key West. No Bernie pictures :( )

I think I remember meeting a couple who were friends of Windamer, could that be who the "mystery" man is??

I took the kids to see Brother Bear today. Cute movie, but Finding Nemo is STILL my current Disney favorite!

We head to Washington DC on Wednesday for Thanksgiving with my olderst sister and her family. She is tring again to get us White House Tour tickets. This is our 4th trip to DC at Thanksgiving, but the Friday after Thanksgiving also seems to be the day the White House is decorated for Christmas. Last year we went to the National Zoo and saw the Pandas, but it was VERY cold!Too cold for my thined out Southern blood!

Welcome home jeanneg! Enjoy your company! Glad you had a nice trip.

jeanniec...My DS was born 4 weeks before I finished nursing school. I missed only 2 days of school! He was born on a Thursday (I went to clinicals that day) and I was back in school on Tuesday! If I missed more then 20 hours, I would not have been premitted to take my boards! I cried a LOT that Tuesday! My DS was only 5 days old and I had to be away from him all day!
Thankfully DS has no memory of it, :p BUT I will never forget it!

Mary,
the friends of Windermere are Rodney & Susan, who have already been identified.
Enjoy your trip to DC. BTW, if you wanna get into the White House just get yourself elected. Should be a piece of cake for you as you have family in Florida, too :jester:

Ave,
we're also looking forward to it and already started collecting info about Mannheim for Marc - But don't tell him ;)

Ave' -- You are working 2 jobs plus the family and you are going to school! That is really something and I admire your ambition. And you are right -- even if you take one course at a time, you will be on your way. I know I took some of the non-clinical classes (microbiology, nutrition, etc.) at night while I was still teaching during the day. It takes time, but I think you appreciate it so much more when you have had to work so hard to reach your goal.

Mary -- Wow, having your DS 4 weeks before graduation! I know what you mean about not being able to miss much school. Our children are adopted, and I was doing my OB rotation when our son arrived. I had asked to work in the nursery first since we were expecting him any day, and I wanted to be an expert on babies before we received ours. I couldn't take more than a couple of days off, either, but luckily he arrived a couple of weeks prior to spring vacation so I had the whole summer with him before I went back to school to finish. At least I didn't have the physical exhaustion that you would have had when you went back to work.

Jeanneg -- How great to be able to see The Producers! I envy you. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving, and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone else on this board!

Hi Folks,
just got great news from my insurance broker: Our car was downgraded to a lower risk-level, which reduces our yearly premium by €300 ($350 or 65 cocktails on the Magic), which is about 40%. They originally considered it high risk, because the small sedan with the same engine it is based on was involved in lots of accidents. But convertibles are usually driven more carefully - Cruising, not racing!! And so we can profit from it. And it also raises its value as a used car, because it becomes more affordable. We expect to get about 60-65% of its original value when we trade it in in spring 2005.

Eric, great news! I LOVE it when stuff like that happens!

jeanniec...I assume from your post your children were infants when you adopted them? It's nice you had the time off to spend with your DS.

Ave, congrats on going for it! I may do the same when I get back to Florida. I looked into the LPN to RN program here and it is just not possible to do while working full time. :( The weekend program sounds like a great deal.

We had our 1st day in our new clinic today. It went much better then we expected! A few computers are not working, and the phone system needs some "tweeking" but other then that, it went well.

:wave2: Rosemary and Rich!

Mary,

DH and i are planning to do so DC touring the day after Thanksgiving as well. Figured the malls would be more like a zoo than THE zoo.
Haven't decided what we are doing yet however. We are tentatively planning a sushi stop at a new restaurant which we had heard was pretty good. ( KAZ Sushi Bistro 1915 I (eye) St. NW Washington, DC 20006 ) Just in case anyone in your group would be interested in it.

Nancy

Eric,

I got my disc in the mail today that you gave to Rodney and Susan. Haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Just wanted to say thanks.

Nancy

And just in case they are lurking (we have not heard from them at all since the trip)

Hi Dan and Scott

Guess everyone is sleeping. I suppose I should be doing the same. Need to work opening shift tomorrow after doing a closing shift tonight. It's just so hard to get to sleep when I close.

But off to sleep I must go. Wish me luck.

You're welcome, Nancy
If you have any questions about the pics, just mail them to my AOL-adress.

Nancy, We are going to be sight seeing on Friday also! My sister got us tickets to do a White House tour in the morning, then we will maybe go to a museum or maybe the National Zoo. A lot depends on the weather. We are going to try to firm up our plans tonight. I'll let you know.

Mary -- Yes, our son was two weeks old when we adopted him & our daughter was six weeks old.

Have fun in DC, all of you that are going to be there. We have never been to Washington, DC. Think about it frequently now that we are closer here in NC than we were in Chicago. However --- it seems that we always end up doing something Disney (DCL cruise and/or DVC resorts). Hmmm - could that be some kind of addiction or something??

News for all the Disney-addicts and another reason to visit Europe (A newspaper clipping from Germany):
Arosa, Switzerland: In the Swiss skiing town of Arosa kids of all ages may go skiing with Mickey and Donald this winter. The town located in Switzerland's kanton (Kanton=State) Graubünden has been chosen by the Walt Disney Company to become their exclusive partner for the newly opened "Alpen Club Micky Maus". The Grand Opening is scheduled for 11/29/03.
From this day on Micky Maus (German spelling!!) and more well-known Disney-characters will accompany Families and kids during their vacation in Arosa. 13 hotels of the Five- to Three-star category take part in the venture. In the ski-school of "Club Micky Maus" the little ones will make their first steps on skis in "Micky's Schneestation" (Mickey's Snowstation) or "Donald's Skiarena (No translation necessary IMHO;) ) to learn all the alpine wintersports.
The Grand Opening on November 29th will offer a lot of surprises for the guests. Disney will show it's Xmas-blockbuster "Finding Nemo" (Remark of the translator: It has just started in Europe on 11/20/03), Disney animators will be present and teach the kids how to sketch their dearest friends.
Micky, Donald & Co will sign autographs and pose for souvenir photos. Under supervision of experienced ski- and snowboard instructors you may experience your first swings in the snow, and you may also enjoy the big Laser- and effect-show "Mountains of Fantasy".
For kids up to 16 years of age the Grand Opening including a day-ticket for all the lifts is free of charge, adults will pay about $15.

Perhaps this may lure some of you to wonderful Switzerland.

Eric, I'm calling my TA right now!!!:jester:
The ski thing sounds Great!!! Are you going?
I am trying to talk Mark into visiting Germany in the next few years. I really think we would enjoy it.
Mary and George:

Happy Anniversary!!!!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MARY AND GEORGE!!!!!!!!:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

We have been extremely busy this past week. Hope to get a little down time in the next few days. Have some embroidering to do on baby bibs. Mike

I meant to mention it a few weeks ago but we got a 95 on our JCAHO score. The hospital had a 100 but of all places to bring us down was Human Resources! We were supposed to have a "little extra" in our pay for the good work but no one has seen it yet.

I went to school when all three of my kids were 2-5-7. It was so hard to get my RN but thanks to Mike, I made it. He did a lot of house work and childrearing as well as his job at the railroad. He also helped me pass Chemistry. I just hated it when I first started then it got a little interesting when I understood what I was doing. He also got me through Algebra. He is a first rate hubby. Now he helps me with the babies at NFN and loves it. (At least he tells me he does.:teeth: ) Mike is just the best. So Ave, go for it girl! You will not be sorry.

I have been a nurse for the past 19 years. All in the same nursery at the same hospital.

Speaking of nurseries, I gotta go feed my three babies now. Take care everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving! Don't eat too much. ;)

Kathy with a K

Mary & George: Herzliche Glückwünsche zum Hochzeitstag!!!

Ave,
thanks for the links. I'm checking them out. Additionally I ordered a broschure from the PCB tourist info.
And: No, we do not ski. We know how the Alpes look like in summer: So much environmental damage caused by the skiers :(
