1 Year to SAVE!!!

I'm still catching up on Christmas purchases and had to pay an insurance deductible on my vehicle which met up with a deer. The only good part of this is we now have some free meat (well, after deductible and processing, I guess not really free but...) I'm hoping to save a bit on buying burger at the grocery store so maybe that'll help our weekly budget in the long run.

And now DD has decided she'd really like to see the WWoHP at IOA on our trip too. I told her if we could save the extra money by then we'd go so I'm going to have to bump up my goal now to $2000 for our girl's trip. We'll see if it's doable.

New Goal $2000
Saved to date $648.76
Left to save $1351.24

I haven't been able to save any $ for our trip but I knew it would be after the first week in Feb, before we could start saving. But hoping to save a little out of our tax returns.

Here is my weekly add in. Another $80 going into the DisFun-d!!!

$5,000 needed
$ 920 saved so far
$ 80 this week
-----------------
$4010 left to go!!

That is pretty much the boat we are in. I am trying to start the fund with change/savings and coupons but can't save any "real" $$ until February.

My husband and I crunched numbers for the trip tonight. We decided that we want to stay at Port Orleans-French Quarter. So we want to save a little more than we thought. We are going March 23-29, 2013.

So new total to save is $5000.

I will be starting a new job in the next two weeks, and I am going to open an ING account, so I can start put money away. Right now I just have my piggy bank change, but it's still a start.

Super Happy DANCE!!! My trip just got a little cheaper!! There WILL be several YES programs available during our Fall Break trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!

:dance3::dance3:
Makes a huge difference doesn't it?

Plus I'm hoping her teachers will be less grumpy about her missing school if she's taking a physics class LOL

Sadly, I'm too spoiled and too cheap that I would change my trip dates just to take advantage. My kids LOVE the programs and I LOVE the prices!! lol

I have an ING savings account. No minimum balance or other fees. Plus having the money in an online account makes it harder to spend the money.

We also have an ING account that we have automatic deposits for paydays set up.

We just have $25 per week taken out. But if DW works overtime or I get bonuses, then we add additional money.

It really ads up fast, and its several days to get, so harder to spend.

When we come home at the end of the day we remove any change or $1 bills and put it in our vacation fund. It's more for the "extras" but it does add up over a year.

Good luck!:cool1:

I'm estimating that 4 nights at the Boardwalk (water view) will run about $1700 if I can snag a good discount. Add another $600 for food for 2 adults and $50 for airfare fees (using Southwest RR points) and the trip should come in around $2500 or less.

Have: $388 in Disney GC, $38.17 on a Merchandise GC and $40 in Landry's GCs, $243 cash
Estimated Cost: ~$2500
Need to Save: $1869

Let the saving resume!
Updating....

I got the $107 bonus added to my ING checking account. It was an offer back on Black Friday weekend (open a checking account and do 5 PIN transactions in 45 days to get a bonus $107).

I also came home from my trip to a postcard from Disney to do the DVC online tour for a $40 GC. I'll be doing it later today.

And I forgot all about a $20 Mastercard GC that I got for the "Salute to Moms" promotion last month. I never spent it in Disney.

So, I've added another $167 to my Disney account.

Still need to save $1702.

I have finally decided to come out of lurking. I don't currently have a date for a WDW trip. I had been planning to go sometime in the next 3 years (I've never been to WDW, just DL a few times), but then my van died and we just had to get a new car. So now I'm shooting for sometime in the next 6 years (after the car has been paid off).
The trip would be just my husband (who also has never been to WDW, just DL once) and I. We decided if we go that we wanted to make our first trip a luxury trip so I've got a long ways to save. It's going to be tough but you all have been such an inspiration to me.

So far I just have a bunch of coins saved: $23.29

I just found this thread! So glad I did. I'm currently saving for a June 2012 weekend cruise and an October 2012 WDW trip for my 30th bday. My goal is $2000 and I currently have $495 in the fund, plus the cruise has been paid off for months. I also have about $130 worth of Disney gift cards that I got for Christmas. :goodvibes I'm a member of Sunshine Rewards, MyPoints, I-Say, and My Survey. Between all of those, I've been doing pretty good cashing in for rewards. I think my favorite is SR. I've made a little over $100 from their site since the end of October. Definitely subbing to this thread :)

a recommendation is to gather up some bottles and cans! not sure if youve started thta already but its really helped us get 40 dollars!

This is a great idea, though we can't just cash them in here in tn... Have to go to a recycling center and I'm having a fun time trying to find one that's easy to deal with around here. My oldest started collecting cans on Saturdays just along our drive home from Young Marines. He's collected so many and even one guy stopped him and gave him like 5 or 6 trash bags full! As soon as we get them cashed in I will let you all know how he did so far!

That is pretty much the boat we are in. I am trying to start the fund with change/savings and coupons but can't save any "real" $$ until February.

Same here. I won't get any serious effort going before our trip next week, so Feb 2 is my "real" start date even though I'm putting together spare change and Sunshine Rewards survey $$ in the meantime.

But I'm super excited - I broke the $100 mark! :)
Total saved = $103.10.
$1546.90 to go.

Well my husband and I have changed our plans so our goal has changed. We have decided to stay offsite in a townhouse due to price and amount of space. We are traveling with another family and 1 child so this way we could go in together and get a 3 bd house that has more than enough room. Plus we will be doing some other things while there not just WDW. Plus instead of dining plan we are just going to pay OOP for our meals. And we are also hoping to be able to do the YES program since there are several classes during the time we are there.
Also I managed to sell a good bit of stuff on Amazon this week so I have $321.00 more to add to my savings. Considering I can't start taking money from our checks until February for this trip I am doing pretty good I think. I believe I am going to go through some more stuff to try and list online tomorrow!

Old Goal $3900.00
New Goal $2900.00 (which includes $1000 spending)

have so far $135.00
Amazon $321.00

left to go $2444.00

What city is in doTN. I live in Chattanooga and 4 centers to turn in cans. I don't make a lot of money on them but it does by for goodies for the kids while on vacation. I tell you some good ones in Chattanooga to deal with.
