Uh-oh on the socks!! I need to try mine out, I dont want any issues in Disney. I was going to order some Orthaheel tennis shoes, but now I am thinking of just ordering the inserts for the shoes I already have and trying their sandals. I am so scared that I wont like them and will have spent $65 on sandals tho!! I so don't know what to do... I wish there was a store to try them. Ugh. I HATE my feet!!

Those Cross country trips were and are wonderful. So many places to see along the way! We did our first when my husband received 3 weeks vacation with DL the destination we wanted to visit a lot! National Parks and planning and just seeing the country we have are the best! And the NP AP is just $80 for the family!

I would love to do a cross country trip and see the National Parks. We accrue PTO ok, but trying to take more than a week at a time is frowned on. There are so many things that I want to see of this country.

Wow...if that walking in distance and heat doesn't prepare you for Disney, nothing will.

Terri, I am still going to bring the socks. I wore them today, but brought my regular socks for the afternoon as backup. So, I figure if I can wear them for half a day, that will hopefully cut down on blisters.

I have never used inserts. I might consider it, but I am just going to tough it out this trip.

Not trying to be a bummer but the Frozen events at Hollywood Studios are only planned until September 1 so be prepared in case they do not extended them

Our 1st day is August 31st. We land at 6:30 am. So we plan to go to DHS as soon as we check into Pop and can get to the park.

Congrats on all the walking! I need to walk more - I haven't walked at all since returning from the lake, I just hate walking at home - too many hills in every direction.

Oh no about the Thorlo socks... I wore mine all week at the lake (I did wash them in between - LOL) and they were fine... but I agree - they are VERY thick... I thought they were slippers when they arrived. Debating on wearing them to break in my Donald shoes. LOL Not sure I will be able to wear those socks in WDW though - I think they will just be too hot. I will bring them with just in case though.

Hi Dorine. We leave for Disneyland a week from today. I was excited when I woke up this morning. Now, not so much. I will explain in the post. I wore the socks again, and they were ok for the first 45 minutes of my walk. The last 15 minutes was no fun. I am now not sure if I will bring them. Maybe to wear as slippers at the hotel room.

Hi Michelle. Yup we leave for Disneyland in a week.


We leave for Disneyland next Monday. I was super excited this morning. I didn't get anything done this weekend that I should have. My parents came over to go to garage sales. I picked up several shorts the next size down. Went home and tried on...all too small. If I had gotten the next size up...they probably would have been too big. So, those are in the save for WDW trip. I can't use them for next week's trip though. Then we went to a thrift store, and I found 2 pairs of shorts that will fit, so I will have clothes to wear next week. While we were gone, Jacob was watching Chelsea. He doesn't watch super careful. She was out playing with the neighbors. Kiddie pool and slip and slide. She has reddish blonde hair, freckles and blue eyes. Now she is sporting a super painful sunburn. It was a miserable day and a couple of nights for all of us. She cries most of the night because she can't lay down without it hurting. She claims the sunburn lotion I have stings. (It does have lidocaine in it.) So, I went to store and bought some pure aloe and hopefully that will help today. We are hoping it will be gone by Disneyland.

Then, I get to work and check my personal email account. I have an email from Disney. They changed one of my FP+ because American Idol experience was no longer available at that time. They changed it to Indiana Jones. Now, I chose American Idol because it was indoors. Chelsea and I have no desire to see Indiana Jones, but we weren't thrilled with the other options either. Disney Jr Live - nope. Voyage of Little Mermaid - it is a no for me, but Chelsea might want to do it again. I will have to ask her. No for Tower of Terror, but we could select it and let Jacob and Marissa use our bands so they can ride twice. Oh, and there was the other Stunt show...no thank you. What is the point of selecting 60 days out and they just change them on you? The other option was Muppets, but we have that planned for later in the week.

Chelsea started packing for the "cabin". She is the only one so far. So, we will be busy this week. I really don't want to be at work this week. Oh well. I better try to get back into my excited state.

The reason I am keeping it Indy is because of you. I know you guys really enjoy this, so I figure we might as well try it, plus it is close to our next FP of Star Tours, so we are good.

Clothing is complicated. I have size 12 pants in Apt 9. So, you would think shorts in the same brand and size should have worked. Nope. Oh well. I have a month to make them work.

This is crazy! Two trips? What was I thinking? We leave for Disneyland in 6 days. We leave for WDW in 40 days. I cannot contain my excitement.

Yesterday, I picked up our Disneyland tickets (paper tickets y'all). We got the Buzz Lightyear with the green background. We got a Minnie Mouse with red background. We got Lightning McQueen with a yellow background. Lastly, we have a Sully with a bluish background. Mine is Sully because it is the Chaperone ticket. So, I guess the others can fight over them.

Chelsea's sunburn is getting a bit better. She loved the Noxema. So much, I thought we were all going to perish from the toxic fumes in the house. Had to open windows just to be in the same room as Chelsea. She is super excited to go to the Cabin. I am a horrible parent. I am going to have one of those Disney surprise fail videos. I think it will be ok. She mentions how she wishes she could go to Disneyland, but WDW is ok too. So, maybe, just maybe she won't be upset.

I should get some work done today...after I head to the cafeteria.

5 days as of today! The burn is better. I walked in the door and immediately was knocked over by the smell. I was able to locate her much easier with the Noxema smell. I am going to have to hide the Noxema!

I am starting to feel bad for deceiving my children. Chelsea came up to me yesterday, just so excited. She said, "I can't wait for the cabin!" Hopefully, Frontierland will have to do.

Jacob and Marissa's dad skyped with them yesterday. I guess he is back in the States from Afghanistan. We was in Baltimore waiting for a flight to Austin. He should be back next week sometime. He said to them, "So, you will be in California next week?" Marissa told him No. That they would be at Diamond Lake at the cabin. Hopefully, Jacob is still in the dark. The kids are pretty much packed. I have nothing packed. I will get it together. Trying to figure out how to pack the Serendipi D~ bags without Jacob or Chelsea seeing them.

As far as WDW...39 days to go. I just love when it gets under 40. Seems scary close at this point. When we get back from DLR, it will be 28 days. So, I will be busy with photopass pictures (still haven't received the voucher) and laundry and packing and doing a mini trip report. Plus, Marissa has a mini trip planned in there for San Antonio, Texas. August is going to be busy. Chelsea has her drop dead dance camp 2 weeks before we leave for WDW. Why are summers so short?

I have to drive to the critical access hospital and meet with managers to discuss their final FY15 budgets. Not usually a happy meeting because I get to tell them what wasn't approved, but this year, mostly my departments got their requests approved. Yay!

Holy Crap is exactly how I feel! How am I going to pull this off? I want to record the reveal, but I don't plan on telling them until we pass the California border...and I will be driving. Maybe I can get Marissa to record, but I want to see their faces! I was thinking of telling them that there is a big wildfire and we have to go down to Weed and up Hwy 97 to avoid it, but didn't want them to be scared that the wildfire would burn us up at some point. Maybe I will tell them before the CA border? How do I get Disney stuff into my suitcase without Chelsea seeing? She won't think anything of the shirts, but she will the bags and the autograph books. I have to start packing tonight.
