1 night split stay, worth it?

DH, DD, DS & I are going to CR club level for 5 nights in November. We have decided that we want to stay for 1 more night at the end of the trip but there is no availability at CR without changing rooms. I am considering a single night split stay for our last night at Poly, but I am nervous that this will be more hassle then it's worth. Any thoughts or other suggestions?

If it's at the end of your stay, I say go for it. You could pack up almost everything and just leave out enough for your last night. The Poly is so much fun, I would do it.

I would do it too. Like the OP said, you will need to pack up most of your stuff anyway. But I would also keep checking back to see if the room becomes available at CR. It would of course be a lot easier to just stay put but switching from one monorail resort to the other should be very easy

I wouldn't do it. You have to be out of your CR room by 11 AM & you probably will not have a Poly room until near 3PM or later. I just am nota fan , in general, of split stays. IMHO the hassle is not worth it to me

Is it possible to change the 5 nights at CR to 4 and then book the Poly for 2 nights? It would feel more worthwhile and you would get to experience the awesomeness that is the Polynesian.

Otherwise, if you are only moving for the one night, I would be inclined to book the different category room at the CR and hope that it would be able to be changed so that you can stay in the same room.

Either way, I would request a late check out and early check in as my only requests on the two reservations. That way you might actually get to move directly from one room to the other with less disruption/down time.

This is a great idea. Or is there a way you can add the extra night at the beginning and then move for the last 4? I am a big fan of split stays and do them a lot but don't think I would like moving for one night at the end. On our last trip in 2014, we spent 4 nights at the Wilderness Lodge and then moved to the Gaylord Palms for the last night because we wanted to see ICE and their other holiday offerings. With all of the packing up, it felt like our trip was already over by the time we go to the Gaylord and even though we enjoyed our night there, we sort of felt like we were just killing time until we went home the next day. I wished I had done the trip in reverse with one night at Gaylord at the start and then a move to the Wilderness Lodge for the rest.

I would go for it but if possible I'd move the one night to the beginning. I do this often, doing a value or moderate for arrival night then moving over to a deluxe for the rest of the trip. My last trip in May, we actually had a 3 split stay, it wasn't on purpose. We did 2 nights at AKV (not a DVC member just got the room through Disney for less than the other deluxe resorts) I always wanted to stay there but was hesitant to be somewhere I'd have to take the buses the whole time since we normally stay in the Epcot resorts. The last 3 nights were at BWV. We decided we wanted to stay another night while at AK so when we checked in BW we asked about another night. We were told they couldn't add it onto the reservation since we booked through Orbitz for that leg so we would have to call the reservation line and see if we could add another night. They knew there was one available just couldn't book it. Strange but anyway, I called reservations right from the room (which happened to be ready when we checked in at 7:30 in the morning) and added another night at BWV, same kind of room a studio but we had to move for that last night. It was no problem, we just called down and had bell services store our bags since the last room wasn't ready when we checked out, went on to the park and when we we got the text the room was ready, headed back over (we were at Epcot) and called bell services and had our luggage delivered.

We added one night at Pop Century to the beginning of our trip this past summer (originally a Poly/Beach Club split with 5 nights at each). It was great - we didn't have any issues and liked trying a new resort. This upcoming trip we're doing a 4-way split - 3 or 4 nights at 3 places with a one night stay at All Star Movies at the beginning.

We have our one night stay on a night where we don't do parks the next day, which helps.

YES! Another Disney day is worth it. The night before pack up everything and make a day bag with swimwear etc. give your bags to bell services but keep your day bag. Bell services will deliver to the poly. When you are in your Polly room call to have your bags brought up. You could go strait to MK or go to Polly to just enjoy the pool and restaurants. You should only be homeless for 4 hours. They have lockers at MK for your day bag if that's how you will spend your day. Or bell services will hold it for you if you bring your day bag to the Polly on the monorail first. You can always stop and get it if you need something. Bring a couple backpacks for this day so you and DH can share the load. Have fun!

We would not be doing parks on our last day, we were planning on seeing some of the resorts and maybe Disney Springs. For a bit more context, DD is 8 and DS IS 2

We are doing this both before and after our original reservation later this week.
We decided to fly in late Friday instead of early Saturday morning. We couldn't get the room we have for Saturday so we are staying a single night, moving to our resort for 4 nights. We added a day at the end also and again, the resort wasn't available for the last night so we move again.

We change resorts on our trips a lot. We find it super easy. But we are not ones who unpack, we live out of our suitcases. So it's easy to just zip it closed and call bell services to move. We head to the park and by the time we are done for the day our bags have been moved.

I've done it with no problem. If you want to, just go for it enjoy.:flower1:

We're doing a 1night split stay at the beginning of our trip. Decided to fly in a day early and stay at POR then transfer to the GF.

I do this often. It's better than spending the night in an airport hotel in my departure city to take a 5am flight out. Instead I get a lower cost room at Disney World and wake up already there!
