Hi everyone

we are staying at the Quality Inn international in April and were thinking about going on site for 1 night, just for the experience. Is it worth while?? Had anyone done this??

I think a lot would depend on where you stay.

I would go for one of the Epcot resorts; Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach Club or even the Swan/Dolphin. You are within walking distance of Epcot for the Illuminations and the Boardwalk is a lovely place to stroll in the evening. You can also catch the Friendship boats to MGM if you wanted to.
You can then end the day at Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club with a very nice ice ceam sundae before retiring :)

Be warned! - Once you have stayed on-site you won't want to stay off-site again LOL

I have only ever stayed on-site and I love it. It would be best for you to check out all the features the resorts have, that you might enjoy to help you pick one that suits you.

Whats your favourite onsite resort then Kaylee. I wish i could afford to stay on site for longer but i cant at the moment.

Ohh there's a question.....

Boardwalk is my DVC resort and I love it for it's closeness to MGM and EPCOT and the whole theming. This is also true for the Yacht and Beach Club. Stormalongbay is the pool for the Y & B club and that is lovely - we had the chance to experience this in October, it has a sandy bottom and a great slide. We also love the Beaches and Cream diner here too.

Animal Kingdom Lodge looks lovely and you could have a balcony over looking the animals in the morning. The lobby, pool and restaurants here are great too.

The Polynesian I think is gorgeous as this is where we got married - so I would love to stay here one day. Great restaurants, lovely boat trip to MK and I just love sitting on the hammocks.

Wilderness Lodge is a lovely resort too - we hope to stay in the villa's here one day. I love the theming of this resort, great pool and wonderful restaurants.

Caribbean Beach Resort was wonderful, we stayed for two weeks here on our first trip but if I was just staying for one night I wouldn't choose this, as I would pick something with more to do. I would also like to have a look at the new resort Pop Century.

See I don't think I could decide, being part of DVC makes my choice easier.

In order I would probably pick...

1. The Polynesian
2. Animal Kingdom Lodge
3. Yacht and Beach Club
4. Wilderness Lodge.

There is just too much choice :)

We have just booked a one night stay in the Hard Rock Hotel at universal. DH decided to book this for the use of fast pass thing as we will be there on presidents weekend and guess it will be very busy. Also with the exchange rate being so good it was a good deal. $189 for family of 4. Little luxury as we are staying at the travel lodge. Cant afford to stay onsite for any length of time. I would love to stay onsite, but DH says no and he has to pay lol.

5 weeks to go and counting.

We have spent one single night in a hotel in Orlando....this was because the flight arrival date did not coincide with the date we started our timeshare exchange, which was the following day.

We stayed at a suites hotel (Homewood Suites) and there were only 3 adults....now there are an additional 2 kids. Staying in a suite was obviously better than just a single hotel room.

I could not imagine being cooped up in a single hotel room with absolutely no privacy....even if it is just somewhere to crash.

My advice FWIW is....if you can afford to stay at WDW, you can afford to rent a villa (not much dearer than a non WDW hotel) and the standard of accommodation is so much higher. Certainly you wouldn't be living in each others pockets.

As you have already booked a hotel, I do not think it's worth packing all your gear then unpacking it, just to spend 1 night on site. Just too much hassle IMHO, particularly bearing in mind check out/check in times.

Not planning on taking much stuff with us just for over night.. we will leave everything else in travel lodge, have been told we can check in at 8am with our luggage and have the room at midday. Check out is midday but we will be in the park by then and they can store our luggage there until we leave the park.

I'm hoping to book one night at the Hard Rock Hotel, am just waiting for the Entertainment Book to come thru so I can try and book a cheaper rate. I've been quoted $189 for the night for the 2 of us. I've always wanted to stay there and we've got 2 day passes so I figure why not :teeth: I reckon it's definitely worth doing.

MsPennielane...you don't need to have the ET book in your hand before you book the room, you only need to have the card on check in.

Book direct with Universal..1 800 BE A STAR form UK 001 800 232 7827

Ooh thanks for that ear_poppin, I thought you might've needed the number from the card or something. I'll give em a ring now :teeth:

Sorted :Pinkbounc Got the entertainment rate at $135 instead of the $189 I was quoted via the official website! Can't wait! Just hope my entertainment book comes before I leave lol.

What is the ET rate and how do you get it? Dou you have to belong to Disney club or something???:earseek: ::MinnieMo

Hi Wendy, there's an Entertainment Book which you can buy and it's full of discounts. It's highly recommended on another board I post on. It's cost me $25 including $5 rush post as we're going soon and it's already paid for itself with the Hard Rock Hotel booking - I've saved about $55 after the price of the book! It comes out every year and most people buy one every year that they go. Here's the link I was given if you want to have a look:

I am considering an overnight stay at the Hard Rock Hotel, but am a wee bit confused about what benefits you actually get when you stay there. I know your room key gives you Express access on all rides as many times as you like, but I have been told (on this board) that you still need to buy a ticket for the parks. However, if I read about the hotel, it says that you get a length of stay ticket. We already have our 5-day bonus passes.

Also, does anyone know if the 'All Access' Hard Rock pass gives you as good a discount as the entertainment one?

And, finally;), am I likely to get a rate as good as $135 for the week before Easter?

Thanks

Julie

At both Disney and Universal hotels you can either buy room only or a package (length of stay passes).

The advantages of staying on site:-

Disney:- Early entry and transport from Hotel.

Universal:- Express Pass to all rides unlimited!!

As for the rate, we managed to get HRH for $120 a night October Half Term, that was a AP rate. Call them and see what rate you can get.

I love the Hard Rock it is amazing, underwater music in the guitar shaped pool, the Palm Restaurant is incredible and you can either walk to the parks 5-10 mins or catch a boat.

I've just called Universal and can't get a rate for April better than $339. No Entertainment rates are available at all ' at this time'. I could get a rate of $269 for HRH on the web, though. Anyone got any ideas on how I could get a better rate?

Julie
