$1 dollar steak from Dollar Tree. Have you had it, would you eat it?

Sure you can. Last week I bought three dozen eggs for $1.98 on sale at "my" supermarket.

Now, can you buy them that cheaply when you need them, that's a different story.

Yeah I need them for a specific time during the school year. Never catch a sale when I need them.

Not for Ribeye. I did go into the one at Country Club Plaza right after it opened and price shopped. They were pretty close to Walmart on the items I buy, within 3 or 4 cents but Walmart still had them beat. The cereal aisle was what was interesting to me because they had placards with price comparisons to Walmart, and they were the same price or a nickel cheaper HOWEVER Walmart has a deal with General Mills to put more cereal into the same size box and eliminate the air at the top of the box, so Walmart was giving you several ounces more cereal for the same price.
I like Winco for bulk foods, and they have an extensive produce section. There isn't one near where I live, but when I was staying in Folsom I'd go to that one occasionally. When I was in Sac for my dad's hospital stay (and followups) we stopped at some Wincos for basic stuff that was really at good prices. My mom bought a lot of stuff that she couldn't find elsewhere or that was really cheap.

To be fair, normal price is about $13. It's just pretty much every week either T bone or ribeye, or strip goes on sale for between 7-9 a pound. But the drawback back here is briskets and tri tips we never see for $3-4 like you do.

Tri-Tip, how we miss it!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't find it here in the south. When we ask the butchers at Kroger they look at us weird and asked what it was. The one at Sprouts says that they get a piece or two in occasionally but use it to make ground beef. No one but west coasters (that's be us) eats it apparently. On occasion I can find pre-seasoned way too expensive tri-tip in a package at Costco or Sams. I cave once every few months and buy it. It's as close as I'm getting.

Here Costco sells rib-eye ranging in price from $10-15 per pound. When we buy it we buy it as a solid piece and cut it once at home.

I don’t really shop at Dollar Tree much and absolutely never buy anything that would be ingested.

They always have the in store cooked tri tips here right next to the rotisserie chickens. And they have them raw in the meat case. Tri trip and brisket are main stays of all the BBQ restaurants here.
But I get it. My wife has family in Missouri and Illinois where pork steaks are big. Butchers here have never heard of a pork steak.

Wow! Ours only has rotisserie in the hot case. I've asked the Costco meat guys about buying it and all they can point me towards is the prepacked pre-seasoned one that is over priced. None of the BBQ places in Memphis carry it either. Brisket is as close as I get and not as tasty. Everyone has pork and I'm tired of it. Could care less about chicken.

Kroger here in Memphis has a dozen eggs on sale for $.99 right now.

I know, right? People are talking about egg prices, and I am thinking that's expensive! They're usually like $1.29 when not on sale here. Also, I can get a great rib-eye from the local meat market I think they're like $6.99 a pound. I don't eat so much red meat anymore but I used to get them all the time.

By the way, regarding tri-tip, I think you can get it at the place I am talking about - Charlies Meat Market on Summer Avenue. I am pretty sure they carry it, so you might want to check them out. I've always gotten great meat from there.

No Tri Tip?! We would starve, it’s a staple in our house. My DH will BBQ a couple for dinner then the next day we’ll make Carne Asada and the next Carne Asada nachos. Or steak salad etc. Don’t think I could live somewhere you couldn’t get them.

We had Rib Eyes the other night. DH said they were $14 a pound and that was good for premium Rib Eyes. I suppose it depends on where you live and where you buy them.

I once ate a large cockroach on a dare. I will drink a cup of coffee that I left on my desk overnight without reheating it. I've eaten camel, alligator, racoon, and enjoy scapple. I would never, ever, eat a steak from Dollar Store. I wouldn't even feed it to my neighbor's dog (which I dont like).

Sweet! Thanks for the tip. I'll have to scope it out, maybe on the way home from work tomorrow.
