My daughters friend lives about an hour away from the Disneyland Resort and she has no car so never goes to the parks.
We plan to be at Disneyland from April 17-20, but Sunday will be our only full day at the park due to flights and another commitment on Saturday afternoon.
She will rent a car and drive out to see us, and I promised to buy her ticket for that day.
What is the cheapest way to do this? If I buy her the Southern California 1 day 1 park for 2 days, can the pass be used in both parks and use both days (in the same day)?

In Florida we couldn't do that, but we were staying on site and they were connected to our room key. I would think if it is 1 park per day ticket you can only enter 1 park per day, even if you were willing to give up the second day. Wouldn't it just be cheaper to buy a 1 day park hopper though? I haven't ever looked at the price difference because we go for 5 days and don't get the SoCal discount.

A 1-park per day ticket is just that...it gets you into one park of your choice (either DL or DCA) per day, for however many days the ticket is good for.
The only way to go into both parks on the same day is to have a park hopper ticket.

Nope that won't work. Once that 2 day-1 park ticket is scanned at one of the park's gates, then that's your park for the day. If you want a one-day park-hopping ticket then your only option is probably to buy the regular-priced ticket. Deals on one day tickets are rare.

There really aren't many discounts on 1 day tickets. Now that they actually scan the tickets, it's not possible to use both days on the same day. About 10 years ago when they were still punching tickets, the offer would include 2 separate 1 day tickets, and then they had no way to tell that you were using both on the same day. Now it's a single ticket whether you get a hopper or 1 park per day. The difference between the current gate price of a 1 day hopper and the 2 day So Cal non-hopper is only $16. You can ask her to see if she's eligible for any employee discounts or check the AAA price for a single day ticket, but you're usually only going to save $5 or less on a 1 day.

Thank you! I have now decided that with the short time she will be with us that I will just get her the one day one park pass and save the $50! There is enough to keep busy in Disneyland for the day!
We have 3 day park hoppers so we will be able to visit DCA during the days we don't have an extra visitor with us.

Crap! I am only going for a day as well and thought there was a one day ticket that we could hop parks with.

There is a one-day ticket that you can hop with. It's a 1-day park hopper. But it's more expensive than the 1-day, 1-park ticket.

There is a 1 day parkhopper. It's $56 more than the 1 Day 1 Park ticket which is $99. The 1 Day ParkHopper will cost $155.

I hate what they've done with the 1-day tickets. There are just times when that's all I want. I won't pay $620 to take my family to Disneyland for a day while we're vacationing at Hermosa Beach. That's with me already having an annual pass. Obviously, Disney is wanting people to go for more than 1 day, which I get, but sometimes that's all you need or want.
