We are taking a cruise but we will have 1 day afterwards to do Disney we r staying at pop century but does anyone have any tips for park seems like a lot of money for 1 day?

tbh i don't really know what you're asking.
if you're saying that there is too much to do in a day, just get a park hopper ticket and choose your two favorite parks and try to get as much done as possible.

if you're saying that it is too much money for a day, yes it is, the prices do go down the longer you stay.

Id just hit up Magic Kingdom to be honest. I wouldn't try to rush and do 2 parks and barely see anything.

I would do Magic Kingdom.
-It's the most "classically Disney"
-It has the most "magic" feel to it
-Usually has the longest hours
-Lots of characters
-Lots of rides
-Lots of shows/parades/fireworks
It is a LOT of money, esp for a one day, but it's worth it if you're going to be able to get there for rope drop and stay til close, that's the big thing.
-Utilize your fp's and don't waste time on any TS ressos.
-As a group, decide which things are MUST do for you, which things you'd LIKE to do, and which things are MEH for you, if you pick 3 that you all agree on, use those for your fp (if availble) and prioritize from there!

Also remember that after a cruise you're probably going to be pretty tired, and pretty sun tired too, it might also be a good idea to have a nice sleep in at Pop, head on over to check out all the new stuff at Disney Springs during the afternoon, and then maybe have a nice character meal for dinner at one of the resorts to get some of the "magic" without the full cost. Head over to one of the monorail resorts to watch Wishes from outside the park and call it a day!

The one day tickets are expensive. Just make the most of it, from rope drop to close. Magic Kingdom seams the obvious choice for a single day. Enjoy!

The one day ticket for Magic Kingdom is slightly higher than the one day ticket for any of the other parks. We have a single Disney park day this October and wondered what to do with it. Initially we were going to do one of the water parks because the cost for a single day water park ticket is about $40 less than the others. But my DD18 kept hemming and hawing about spending it at our favorite park (Hollywood Studios) - but a lot of the things we enjoy there are closed or being refurbished right now so it wasn't until Club Villain announced more shows that we signed on for that park.

Another thing you might check is crowd levels at easywdw to see if there is a recommended park for that day. Not sure when your cruise is, but it would be a rotten way to end an awesome vacation to end up in a park that was packed - or worse, kicked you out early because it's a MNSSHP or MVMCP day.

first time? time of year? possible to extend a day or two?

The most generic recommendation from me:

If you've never been to any of the Disney Parks, most people will recommend that you go to the Magic Kingdom because it's the most "Disney" park.
If you've been to Disneyland, I'd recommend you start out with Epcot.
I personally think that one-day park hoppers are not a good value. Unless you know you're not coming back to WDW for a long, long time, there is more than enough to do in any of the parks to occupy an infrequent visitor's day... given the price and transportation time.

My coworker just got back from Florida, and she decided to take her kids to Animal Kingdom for one day because it fit their interests the most. So I guess the right answer depends on you and your group.
