DH(33) & I(30) had 1 day/night to spend in WDW before our cruise. Since we were in the parks last Sept with our kids, and are going again in August, we decided to skip the parks this time and do some of the other stuff we never get to do.

Our 7:00am flight from Boston took off a few minutes late but still managed to get us to Orlando on time at 10:00am. After finding our luggage and our Tiffany Town Car Driver(who had our last name all wrong) we were on the road by 10:35 and arrived at the Polynesian by 11:15.

There was a short line at check in and that only took a few minutes. We had requested the Fiji building but that was closed down. Instead we were given Samoa. At first I was upset since I was under the impression this was smoking, but I gave it a chance because it was a good location. Once we saw the view, smoking or not, we didnt care. It was beautiful! We looked directly at the Volcano pool, had a great view of the Grand Floridian and Lagoon, and could even see the Castle if we stretched. Not bad for garden view. ;) There was never any smell of smoke or ashtrays in the room, so that was no problem.

We did some unpacking and then we wanted a bite to eat. I got Sticky Wings to go from the Kona Cafe while DH just got a burger and fries from Captain Cooks. We werent sure if take out was available at Kona so we didnt want to order too much there. We took the food out to the tables by the pool and had a nice relaxing lunch among all the tropical flowers. My wings were great and DH's burger was just ok.

The afternoon was spent on the Poly beach, sipping Mudslides and relaxing, with an occasional dip in the pool. We had gotten up very early so this relaxing afternoon was just what we needed to recharge. We left the beach around 3:00pm and returned to our room. There we got ready for dinner. We had 5:30 PS at the Kona, but arrived closer to 5:15. The restaurant was practically empty...so glad we made the PS 120 days out. ;) Dinner was wonderful...just as good as I remembered it from our last trip.

After dinner we took a quiet stroll around the Poly down to the Wedding Pavillion. I think we saw a total of 3 people on the walk, although when we passed Luau Cove we could hear "Alooooha!" :D Then it was back to the room to change before heading out for the night. (I wanted to wear the "tropical" sundress again on the trip so I didnt want it to smell of smoke after going to the clubs.)

We left the Poly at 7:00 and took the monorail to MK. There we hopped a bus to the Boardwalk. Getting to the BW took longer than expected, between having to wait a while for a bus and then having it make all the other stops first, but it was nice to see some places we had never seen(Yacht Club, Beach Club). After arriving at BW we started out at ESPN for "dessert", which was another Mudslide. The one here was excellent(Polys were very good, but these were better...made with real icecream). Then it was off to Jellyrolls. I had heard a lot about this place but when we arrived it was deserted. We got a little worried that it was going to be lame, but once it filled up, it was very fun. We like that kind of place.

To get back to the Poly we walked down the path from BW to MGM. Again, this was another quiet walk, with very few people around us. We planned to take a bus to the Poly but one for TTC showed up first. We took that. I planned to walk from there but DH suggested we take a monorail since they were still running. He wouldnt listen to me that the Poly is RIGHT next door to TTC  ,so we got on the monorail. After returning to the room, we spent a while out on the balcony looking at the view before getting some sleep for our big adventure the next day...our Wonder Cruise!

We started out July 4th with breakfast at the Kona, again very yummy. We got to catch the Character Caravan on our way out of the Great Ceremonial House. Its a cute idea, but in no way a substitute for Early Entry, like Disney tries to make it seem. Then we finished packing up, sat on the balcony for a few minutes, and then it was back to the GCH to meet up with Tiffany TC at 9:45...on to the port(Ill continue this on the cruise trip report board).

I should add, the moral of this story is WDW is NOT just for kids. Before we went people had told me I was crazy for taking a Disney trip when I got the chance to get away without the kids. They were so wrong.

A fun way to start off your cruise - thanks for posting!
