Hi Lisa! I've followed along here and there and caught some glimpses from Judy's thread. I hope all is well. I am reading along even if I haven't commented before.

Take care! :)

Hey! Thanks so much for letting me know! I hope that you'll feel free to post along the way!

Love the Talk Like a Pirate Day pictures. Today is my oldest daughter's 7th birthday, and she is so excited she shares her birthday with this day!

This is a test! This is only a test! Was that a blast?

Now that we had won big at the utensil slot machine and our tummies were delightfully full of processed cheese spread and fixin’s, it was time to continue our journey through the Magic Kingdom. We had yet to visit our favorite pirates so off we went to Pirates of the Caribbean. Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A pirate’s life for me!

Lucky for us, the longest wait for the attraction that we’ve ever encountered has been 10 minutes. Judging from the looks of the following picture, I’m pretty sure that I’m correct. I don’t remember there being a line until we got close to the loading area.

Some non-flash pretty pitiful pictures:

I’m not even going to post the other pictures ‘cause they look a little something like this:

We stopped for a bit in the store and John found a ball cap that said.....well, I can’t remember but it was quite appropriate for what was going on at his work at that time. I made him buy it and he’s worn it at work a lot. I’ll have to try and remember to look at it tonight and post what it says.

Before, I said that we had Fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain but, after looking through our pictures, we may have pulled the Fastpasses earlier in the day, rode with them and then, went back to ride standby later. Anyway, I’ll talk about that in a minute. First, I’ll tell ya’ll what happened next.

So, we’re walking back towards Frontierland (to either ride BTMR with Fastpasses or standby) and a castmember approached us and asked Hunter if he’d like to be participate in a test for a new attraction. Who the heck turns something like that down? Not Hunter! She led us over to this small building:

She explained to us that we would go in and choose an adventure, be given a map and we’d go in search of hidden treasure. Those are my words. She said it in a much more exciting way and added in some other details. But, that’s basically what we did.

Using the map and a medallion piece thingie, we walked around Adventureland and found various places where you had to place the medallion and listen to the clues. If you went to the wrong spot at the wrong time, little puffs of smoke would appear or pirates would squawk, etc. I realize that I’m not giving enough details so, if you are interested, the following links provide more info:

Hunter on his mission to find the hidden treasures:

Mission completed or should I say “raids” completed, we took our original map back to the stand and the castmember asked if Hunter wanted to do it again. He did so, while he chose another mission or whatever it is supposed to be called, I went back over to John and we waited for Hunter in the shade. We were near one of the set of crates and someone was doing a raid there. Next thing we knew, a cannon blasted! The sound came out from a speaker behind us and startled us a little. Lesson learned, don’t stand near a cannon! It may blast at any time!

Once Hunter was done, we walked back to the little building and turned in the map. The hunt/raid was fun but it’s not something that we will have to do time and time again. It was neat though.

**Continued in next post

I know that we went to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to ride again and, originally, I thought that we rode the second time using Fastpasses. But my next set of pictures have pictures of the new queue. So....I’m thinking that we rode the first time with Fastpasses and the second time was using the standby line. Not that it really matters.

Pictures while in the queue:

One thing that I do remember is that it was getting hot! Even though the queue for BTMR is covered, it was still hot and sweaty in there and we were ready to get into the train and have the wind on our faces. Hunter! You ready?

He’s taking a selfie:

That was one wild ride through the West! In my opinion, you can never take too many rides on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!

**Up next: I’m the Duck Commander! No I am! Uhh, guys..Heeeeee’s the Duck Commander!

Let's all say it together now: I HATE PHOTOBUCKET! Gosh darn their site! The pictures on their site show them being rideside up. On the Dis, they are sideways. I'll try to fix them. In the meantime, have fun laying on your side while reading at the same time. :rotfl2:

What a fun update, Lisa.

I wondered what that new pirate thing was when we were there...now I know.

Your pictures on BTMR are a hoot...especially the one of Hunter taking his selfie.

We must now know what is on John's hat...so you best remember to look.

And yes, I hate photobucket too.

I saw the Pirate's Treasure thing when I was there. Seems like another sort of Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom thing, with the purpose of keeping people busy while not clogging up lines! :rotfl2:

I agree that I've never seen PotC have a long wait either, probably since the boats are so large and they run so frequently.

I really like the new que for BTMR, I took a bunch of pictures of it during my rides. Notice I said rides as I agree with you, you can't ride it too many times.

And while your pictures look fine to me, I definitely hate Photobucket too!!!

The pirate thing was cool but I think that it's geared more towards younger kids. Hunter enjoyed it though so I'm probably wrong.

I'll try to remember to look at John's hat tonight. It's a cute saying and was very appropriate.

The pictures are showing up correctly on Photobucket so who knows what they will do if I try to "fix" them.:sad2:

For what it's worth, I see them normally…

The pirates treasure thingie reminded me of the Kim Possible missions at Epcot.

Ooh, sounds like you took multiple rides on BTMR!

The title caught my eye so I started to read and I have to say this and then I'm gonna go back and read this TR...

I live in the Knox Area! ;) When I read what you wrote about your son-in-law, Jesse I had to reread that a few times. LOL The most ironic thing is that just yesterday I was explaining to my 9 year-old what KARM stands for, because we have a KARM store next to our Kroger!

It's just so cool to see people on the DIS that have a connection to my area. :goodvibes

Now...back to reading this TR! I can tell it's gonna be a good one! :thumbsup2

Welcome! How neat that you live in the Knoxville area. We'll be there over the Thanksgiving holiday. I hope that you'll continue to post along the way.

How long did the pirate adventure thing take? It looks like something my older son would love, but don't know how much time I'd want to devote to it!

At the time, it was confined to Adventureland and I assume that's still the case. It took maybe 30 minutes to do both adventures/missions/raids.
