1 crazy family+2 resorts+5 parks+1 snake+1 surprise=A Mickeystoontown report 4/3x2

Hello,
I just joined the boards today and have just started following your great trip report. So sorry about your Uncle.
Looking forward to reading more
Stephanie

Lisa, I feel exactly the same way about ToT. It would be too funny if we got a pic of us both riding this May. It's a 'date', ok? :thumbsup2:

You are so good to your Mama. I would just echo what everyone else has said, but you did the right thing. :thumbsup2

I may end up adding a TRex or Rainforest ressie to our trip. I haven't decided yet though… we'll see!

Thank you! I had to follow my gut and it said to stay with Mama.

I've been torn about choosing Rainforest this year instead of T-Rex. I wonder if I can work in both?

Sorry Lisa for your loss. Sending my love and prayers to you and your family!!!

Thank you so very much! It's be hard on Mama. I'm happy that she has a trip to look forward to.

Sorry for your families loss. Thoughts and prayers.

They are very very much appreciated!

He can have the guest room.

He'd take you up on the offer, I assure you!

I agree it is confusing checking in at that restaurant.
Hunter turned into a Na’vi. (Avatar reference)
I would love to know what people around you thought when making those fish pics. LOL
Your meal looked so good.
WOW! That ice cream cake is HUGE.
Sorry for your loss.

Thank goodness, nobody seemed to notice our fishy faces. If they did, then we didn't know it.

Thank you Scott! It's so tough losing a loved one.

Wow! Life got in the way with DH being in Afghanistan and trying to get the kiddos through the holidays but I am happy to say I am finally all caught up on your trip report. I love reading your trip reports and it was just what I needed this morning with our wind chill at -15!!! Seeing pictures of people wearing shorts and soaking up sunshine is very appealing!

Prayers and hugs for you and your mama on your family's loss. You are a wonderful daughter and you and your Mama are lucky to have each other.

Can't wait to read more about your trip!

How much longer will he be in Afghanistan? I know that you'll be glad when he gets home.

It was supposed to get down in the teens here last night and that's too darn cold for me. I can't imagine -15! Yikes!

Thank you for the prayers and hugs!

I should be posting more in just a bit.

WELCOME! to both the Disboards and my report! I love having new readers and making new Dis friends!

Thank you!

I hope that you'll continue to read along and comment!

I'm so sorry about your Uncle and your Mom did the right thing doing what was best for her

I'm sure I posted after your T-Rex post but obviously not?!? Your meals looked really lovely, especially those fries. And the ice cream cake - wow it was enormous!!

Once they were lost, now they are found!

Think back to the post that included surprising the family with Cirque tickets. Remember when John and I took a walk around and tried to get a glimpse of the reported mock-up room? Yeah? Well, remember when my camera battery died just as we got into the village of Trinidad South? Okay, let's pick up from that spot since I found the pictures that I thought were lost, but now they are found.

I thought that I remembered going back to the room and changing out the batteries in my camera while the rest of the gang napped (Mama), lounged in a beach chair (John) and played in the arcade (Lacey, Jesse and Hunter). I went back out onto the resort promenade and started taking more pictures.

This time, I went to my left towards the marina, Old Port Royale, main pool, etc. Look who was busy soaking up the sun:

Yep, that would be the one and only John Boy! That man loves the sunshine which is why he enjoys the resort so much. He can pull up a beach chair or sit in a hammock and soak up as much of the Florida sunshine as he wants.

As I said, when I got to the promenade, I went left when I got to the promenade. This is my view when I looked to my left:

To my right:

A glimpse at the Martinique quiet pool and a gentlemen sporting a small swim suit:

Continuing along the promenade towards Old Port Royale:

I see some familiar faces coming my way:

The wooden barrier in the picture above is where, I am told, they relocated the nightly campfire.

The three of them went back to the rooms to get ready and I forged ahead to take more "informational" pictures to post. Shutters is the resort's table service restaurant:

One of the many pots of flowers located around the resort:

If you are facing Old Port Royale and the lake is to your back, there will be a hair wrap station to the right of the entrance to Old Port Royale:

I didn't take too many pictures inside of Old Port Royale because I had already taken quite a few of the food court pictures. However, I did step in and take a couple:

**Continued in next post

As I stepped back outside, I could see that the main pool was a little crowded and I always feel odd taking pictures of perfect strangers who are trying to lounge around and relax. Therefore, I didn't take many pool and kids' play area pictures:

The resort pool bar:

The promenade/boardwalk widens when it goes behind the main pool and there are some picnic tables which provide a nice view of the resort:

My walk took me around the backside of the pool where I took a picture of one of the hot tubs through the foliage:

More pictures of the main pool and the other hot tub:

The promenade behind the pool:

I was soon in the village of Trinidad North:

There are ice and vending machines in each village and I thought that I'd take pictures for those inquiring minds who want to know what they look like:

**Continued in next post

There are several pathways within each village that lead you to your buildings and then back to the promenade. I know that I have mentioned it before but one tip that I gave to my Mama is this "if you find your way to the promenade, you'll be able to find your way to food, pools and people" and it's true. The promenade goes all the way around the resort and Old Port Royale is approximately in the middle of the promenade.

Still in Trinidad North:

The quiet pool in Trinidad North:

Back out to the promenade:

I questioned whether or not to continue my journey to Trinidad South and came to the conclusion that it would probably be best for me to get back to the room and freshen up. We had a Cirque performance to go to!

Pictures taken along the way back to our rooms in Martinique:

Does the resort have it's own Loch Ness Monster? Nah, it's just a turtle:

One last picture taken on my walking tour:

As you know, we spent the evening at Downtown Disney taking in an amazing performance of Cirque du Soliel La Nouba and dinner at T-Rex. We capped off the night with a little window shopping and then hit the sack.

**Up next: That woman has my bag! That woman has my bag! That woman HAS my bag!

Thank you! It's always best to follow your heart and gut in situations like that. I knew that I had to stay with Mama.

Oh did I miss your post? Or did you not post? Doesn't matter, we'll talk about T-rex now. All of our meals were delicious and, yes, the cake was enormous! More than enough to share!

As always, Lisa, beautiful pictures around the Caribbean. You really catch the vibe of the resort with your photos.

Thanks Kathy! I'm not a super beachy kind of girl but I do like it in spurts. I guess that's why the resort hold so much appeal for me. A little beach and a whole lotta Disney.

Just wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss.
Your pics of CBR are making me want to stay there again. It looks like if we take a trip this fall we will stay at POP to keep costs down. DD and her best friend are paying for a room and a friend of theirs from Germany will stay with them and DM and I will be in another room. Also my youngest DD will graduate next year and she wants to stay at AKL for her trip.

Lisa, I'm sorry to hear about what your momma has been going through. That's never easy, and it must have been a tough decision for her to stick to her guns.

Love that you surprised them with Cirque! We ARE going to get there one of these days!

Thanks for the tour of CBR. Such a beautiful resort.

That pot of flowers is just beautiful. Wow!

And that turtle - very cool!

Lisa - you really took so many beautiful pictures of the resort. Nicely done. I especially love the different colored umbrellas at the pools. What a gorgeous resort. No wonder you love it so much.

All caught up... again. Reading your TR was a great way to spend a -15 degree day!
Is your momma going to be with you in May? I'd love to meet her too.

He was supposed to be home in March but looks like he may be extended through July.:( Gotta love the federal government! Hoping they'll let him fly home for our daughter's graduation. pixiedust:

Thank you!

I've priced out the values for our next trip to see how much money we would save. It's only $400. Not that $400 isn't a lot of money to us but I know that we wouldn't want to stay in a value for two weeks. I'd certainly do it though to go to Disney. ::yes:: Oh my! I'd love love love to stay at AKL!

Thanks for the tour of CBR. Such a beautiful resort.

Thank you! This was one of those situations where we had to play it by ear and do what our gut told us to do.

I bet that Maddie would love Cirque. I can just see her in a princess dress oohing and aahing over the show.

That pot of flowers is just beautiful. Wow!

I wish that my flowers would stay that pretty. The heat here gets them almost every single time though.

It really is a beautiful resort.

-15? :faint: I was fussing about it being in the 20s and 30s.

Mama has decided to sit this trip out. She said that she just can't keep up with us for two whole weeks.

He was supposed to be home in March but looks like he may be extended through July.:( Gotta love the federal government! Hoping they'll let him fly home for our daughter's graduation. pixiedust:

Darn government! I'll keep my fingers crossed that they let him come home for the graduation.

Okay, just a thought about mama sitting the next trip out (albeit not asked for nor any of my business) but My mommy said the same Thing last time. I ended up talking her into using a scooter and it was great. She took down days when she wanted and on days she joined in the fun she had the scooter to keep her fro getting worn out. Now if your mama is anything like mine, she had to get past her pride but once she did she was so glad. Just a thought to throw out as an option for your mama! Of course mine didn't stay the whole time so prob def a horse of another color here. Still reading and loving the report!
