I don't want to start any occupancy debates - this isn't related to how many people you should/can put in a 1 bedroom. I'm just wondering if there would be people who would use a 1 bedroom "plus" unit - a 1 bedroom with 2 beds or a queen and bunks in the master. If they added some of these to SSR, with points somewhere between a 1 and 2 bedroom, would it be worth DVD's while to do so from a usage standpoint? I know that even though we only have 1 child, we'd be apt to use them for a trip with grandparents if they were available.

This isn't something that could be retrofitted to the current DVC resorts, but it could be a big selling point for a lot of people if it were available at SSR. Does DVD take feedback/suggestions like Disney does - i.e. rejecting all suggestions? Or will they listen to opinions on something like this because we're owners?

Moderators - please feel free to move/remove this if it's too close to something verboten. I don't want to start up heated debates, I was just wondering if an idea like this would be popular if it was used in a new resort.

Mur!

I'd hate it. I like the king sized bed in the master bedroom. That's what I have at home in my master bedroom. Do many of you have sleeping space for four in your master bedroom at home? It's bad enough that I have to request, non-handicapped, non-smoking, but have to add non-queen sized master bedroom too? And I still haven't gotten to my water view, Epcot view request?

If they had this set up at SSR, how many people would think that they had it at the other DVC resorts as well? It's hard enough trying to sort out the dedicated, non-dedicated, studio plus, etc.

Naw, keep it like it is.

I would love it!! There are 3 in our family including DD who is 5 now. I don't want people sleeping in the living room and don' feel as though I need a two bedroom for the 3 of us. She's getting too old to sleep w/ us no matter how big that bed is. I would definately request and hope for the "plus" unit if it was available.

We've discussed it here before and most seem to like the current setup. Variations include 2 pullouts, 2 queens in the Master, bunkbeds and the like. Don't think for a second it would be the same price as the rest of the 1 BR. Likely over half way towards the 2 BR costs. Besides, if you were DVC would you want to worry about an odd unit at one of the resorts. It's not like they need to find a sales gimick right now though for SS it remains to be seen how it will sell. I can assure you it won't happen.

I have never seen a master bedroom with anything but a kingsize bed or a queen, it just wouldn't be a master bedroom with bunk beds now would it. If you have a 5 year old just put him on an air matress near the bed. When he gets older rent a two bedroom.

I wouldn't like it. Although I usually stay in a studio, when I do reserve a 1-bedroom, I want a king-size bed in the master bedroom. No bunks, no nothing--just the one large bed. :)

A variation of this might work as a new (or remodeled) resort some time in the future, BUT NOT DVC!! I want my home away from home to be as comfortable and private as my home AT home. ;)

What I'm thinking is a "regular" hotel room, with a kitchen, sitting area, and laundry attached. But don't mess with my DVC!

I would love that set-up. We only have a double bed here at home and get lost in the king bed. I've often thought it would be a nice option to have some units with 2 queens or a queen and bunks in the master.

One of the reasons we bought into DVC was that we could be guaranteed a king sized bed. I got sick of requesting one in a regular hotel and Disney, being what it is, having only a few king sized beds to go around and the rest having two queens. If a king bed became just a "request", I'd be really upset.

I will never understand why people want to share a bedroom with their children. To me, this is one of the biggest downsides of a regular hotel room! The lack of privacy would definately take DVC down a notch.

If we are going to make a "wish list", I would like to see the studio/ 2nd bedroom with a queen and bunk beds as an option in some of the rooms. That would make the room "feel' larger than 2 queens, and helps when you have 1 boy and 1 girl or just 2 boys or 2 girls that would not dare share a bed with their sibling. I know with more options offered, MS will go crazy trying to match up rooms with requests. And since they can't guarantee the room configuration, many more disappointed members when you don't get the choice you requested.

This subject always gets to me. It sounds to me like a lot of people have bought into DVC that really could not afford it. It should be no problem for a DVC member to rent a 2 bedroom instead of trying to change the configuration of a one bedroom. My wife and I use a one bedroom, anymore people that the 2 of us, we go to a 2 bedroom, went to a grandvilla with 5 adults and one child to give everyone a bedroom and a bath. That is the way it should be.

My thoughts have been expressed perfectly by three people

Pa@okw95 really needs to calm down, getting all comfrontational on the board is wrong, you may hurt someone's feelings, you have some nerve!!!!

But after his embarrassing, deragatory opening comment, I agree 100%, it certainly is why I bought in:
