1 Aunt, 1 Mom, 2 kids - will we be sane?

The baskets sound like a great idea. Personally I'd go for the strawberries, but the kids would probably love the cookies. You really can't go wrong either way.

I am looking for opions here: I am comtemplating either having a gift basket delivered for each of the kids or having some type of food item delivered to the room. I was looking at the baskets by feralpig and I did come up with a selection for both Belle and Pluto. However, I have also seen posts of people getting chocolate covered strawberries or cookies delivered to their room at AKL. So now I am debating over which one to do. If I do the gift baskets, then I can personallize one for each kid. However, if I get the food, then we can also enjoy it. Opinions please?

The personalized baskets sound like special fun for the kids, BUT something everyone could share would be really nice to.

Could you put together little gift bags at home (bound to be less expensive) and give them to the kids at the airport AND have either the strawberries or cookies delivered to the room? Best of both worlds!

Yes, I am very torn here. Something for everyone or just something for the kids.

Hmmm, bringing the gift bags is in interesting idea. I will need to take a look around at the Disney store and other places to see if I can find anything. I know that one of the things on the list for each of the gift bags can only be found at Disney. But if I can find something to replace it with. Hmmm :scratchin

Well, I emailed AKL this weekend and they responded today with the options for delivery to the room.

Cookies and Milk: $29.50
Fresh baked Chocolate Chip Cookies with a carafe of milk.

Honeymoon: $49.80
A cold bottle of house champagne served with zebra striped strawberries.

Indaba: $49.80
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Chocolate logo with brownies and chocolate animals.

Karibuni: $80.93
Fresh and dried fruit with deluxe cheese and crackers.

Kwa Heri: $61.01
One dozen of our assorted truffles in a customized Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge box.

Jambo: $31.13
A fruit basket with an African flare. Apples, oranges, bananas, mango, kiwi, and a bunch of grapes.

The strawberries would have been my first choice but since the strawberries include champagne, I think that we will pass on that one. I think that I am currently leaning towards the Indaba.

Yeah! Less than 3 weeks! :dance3:

Hi everyone! Well, 3 weeks from today we will be be at DHS and possbily MK. So what has happened since I last posted?

Disney Nerds for a Day:
Based upon inspiration from If U Had Wings' trip report, we decided to steal, errr borrow, on of the ideas from her trip and we all bought ty-dye mickey shirts that we will wear one day during the trip. We don't know which day we will wear them, but it will definitely be one of our park days just in case the dream squad decides to "honor" us. :rolleyes1

Transportation to the airport:
Originally I was planning on driving to the Logan and leaving my car in one of the off-site lots, but I started to second guess myself. But after comparing prices and posting on the transportation board, I am back to parking in an off-site lot. I actually drove to Boston yesterday just so that I could see where the off-site lots were. It ended up being real easy to find Park, Shuttle, and Fly so I think that I will be using it. I did see Preflight parking in the distance but it looks harder to find.

Flight times:
I can't remember if I posted this earlier, but about a month ago, Jet Blue changed our flight time on your flight to Orlando. It was now leaving at 8:30 PM which would put us into Orlando even later. Well, it wasn't great but OK. DSis noticed that they added a flight just 20 minutes prior to our original flight time. So I called Jet Blue and asked if they could move us to the earlier flight. When I explained that this flight was actually closer to our original flight time, they moved us for no cost! :dance3: So now we will be landing an hour earlier! :yay:

Surprise in the room:
Well, gift baskets are definitely out. I went to Feral Pig's website a couple of weeks ago and she is out of business. She got a job at Disney Florist so she has stopped her own business. I did think about making the baskets up here, but I decided that I didn't want to carry everything down. So I will be ordering the Indaba to be delivered to our room.

Pin Trading:
Pluto is still certain that he will be trading some of his pins. So that means that I will bring my stuff for trading also. I will probably give both kids some pins from my pin trading stash so that they can trade a few more pins. I just need to figure out how many to give them: 3 per day each, 10 total, some other amount?

Breakfast at Cape May:
I think that our breakfast at Cape May is still a surprise for the kids! I will be interesting to see how long we can keep it a surprise. With any luck, maye we can keep it a surprise until we get to the breakfast on the last morning.

Yay for 3 weeks! I can't believe it's so close for you! I am still following! :)

Woohoo!!! It's almost here!

That's a bummer about the gift bags. I know how you feel about not wanting to have to bring all that stuff down. I didn't want to either, I did end up doing it, but at one point I actually considered shipping it down to myself ahead of time. You could cost that out if you still wanted to do it. Just a thought.

So, are you ready yet?

Yeah for 3 weeks!!!!

I'm so glad you got the shirts. I was amazed at how much attention we got wearing them - from CM's and other guests. They were a huge hit.

Almost down to 2 weeks now (ok 2 weeks & 2 days). Thanks for staying with me! :goodvibes

I'm almost ready. There really isn't much that I need to do beside maybe make a reservation for the off-site parking at Logan and picking up some $1 bills to be used for tips.

I think that the shirts are going to be a great success. When we showed the kids the shirts they thought that they were really neat. Now to pick a day to wear them. Of course our AKV room has a washer, so I suppose we could do laundry and wear them more than once. :rotfl2:

That is how we ended up wearing ours more than once. It also made for some really nice family shots.

Less than two weeks before our trip.....:dance3: The kids are so excited. We just took the suitcases out last night to start trying to get prepared!:laundy:

Yep! 2 weeks from today we will be enjoying our first full day at WDW, checking out AKV, and having dinner at Chef Mickeys!

I haven't done anything yet. Hopefully this weekend I will start to put together my carry-on and the pins for pin trading.

OK, I made it bit of progress today. :) I got most of my carry-on stuff together except for my pins which I will put together later today. I also have my noise cancelling headphones charging.

Princess Power, don't forget to pack headphones if you have them for the flight. Since anything that we have will be better than the Jet Blue ones. I also found some croakies. So I have enough if you don't find yours.

Yep, the trip is almost here. I put my pin trading stuff together this morning. I decided on 15 pins each for the kids to trade plus a group for me. How many am I bringing? Well let's jsut say that it is more than 15. :rolleyes1

I acutally spent most of my morning working on my December trip. I had to move a couple of ADRs due to some of the Mousefest events that I signed up for. It is looking more and more like my 12 day December trip is going to be pretty busy. My main plans for December are:

ADRs:
*Bistro De Paris (if it is available when the 30 day window opens)
Chefs De France (part of my Candlelight Processional package)
*Yak & Yeti
*Hollywood Brown Derby
*GF Tea
*Kona
*Tutto Italia
*Flying Fish
*Tonys
*Artist Point
Biergarten

All of the places with the * are places that I have never eaten at before.

My other planned events for the December trip are:
Candlelight Processional
Yuletide Fantasy Tour
Illuminations Cruise with STYC18
Wishes Premium Cruise (Mousefest)
2-3 Photo walks (Mosuefest)
Fantasmic private seating (Mousefest)
MVMCP
Mega Mouse Meet (Mousefest)
DISMeet at *Boatwrights
Maybe the TSM Mousefest event
Plus other Mousefest events

Well, I ended changing my rental car reservation this morning. I was able to book Alamo for $100 less than my National rental including upgrading to a standard SUV from the mid-size. I have never rented from Alamo before so it will be interesting to see how I like them. If it works out well, then I will also change my December rental to them.

By the way

6 Days! :woohoo: :woohoo:
