Bush lied -- what utter nonsense. The previous administration and UN security council have had the same info. and many in the US congress have made many speeches re Saddam and Iraq stressing the need to take serious action over the past many years. Our President and many allies finally took real action. Thank God.
Your head is so far down in the sand, you haven't seen what has been happening for the last couple years. Lets see, nobody has found WMD's, Powell says it is the greatest mistake he ever made, and, has indicated that he resents having had gone to the UN.....etc. Bush went to the UN, and to the senate, and said WMD's, we must go now. Unfortunately, it was al untrue. Lets see, didn't the CIA come have some thoughts before the war that the WMD's were not there?
And, while other presidents may have stressed action, the action they stressed did not include putting Americans in harm's way. The others didn't go to war. This president planned for Iraq before he had a reason, and then jumped on WMD's and terrorism when it was convienent for him to do so. The war was started on a lie! The people who have died and have been injured over there did so under a false pretense.
Those saying to "cut and run" or that this fight against terrorism is not worth it are the ones who would have our soldiers die in vain.
How is having cut and run making our soldiers die in vain? Just because this president has killed over 2000 soldiers in Iraq does not mean that we who want to save additional lives are responsible for their dying in vain. If they have died in vain, it is because of the underlying policy. If they leave now, there will be no more dying in Iraq. If they stay, as you hope, there will be more who die in vain.
I believe wholeheartedly that our armed forces are helping the Iraqis tremendously. I also believe that these brave souls would be ready to defend our land and our freedom if either were ever threatened. There is no denying that these men and women are true heroes.
I agree. But, if they are in Iraq, how are they going to defend MY freedom?
First off, none of us "sent our husbands to Iraq" the military did. A military that they freely and voluntarily joined. Because of the courage, dedication and selflessness of our fighting men and women, you have the freedom to sit comfortably in your living room and disparage them, their families and everything they believe in.
They did freely join. They joined because they believed they would never be used for false purposes. Yet, they are. First, the dedication of the men, etc. has no bearing on this issue. Their fight in Iraq has nothing to do with my freedom. It has nothing to do with protecting me from attack. Now, getting rid of Al Queda, that has merit. By the way, why haven't we found Bin Laden? Maybe becasue all of the fighting men are in Iraq, fighting an increasing insurgency, fueled by Al Queda. Just think, if there was no Al Queda, Iraq may not have been the problem you believe it was, and, it may not have had the avenues to attack us, as you seem to believe it was capable of. So, the men being in Iraq has absolutely nothing to do with my ability to sit in my living room. If anything, their being in Iraq has made it more dangerous to sit in my living room, because they are causing (they being through their actions/orders/etc.) an increase of hate against us, which is simply playing into Al Queda's hands, which, of course, is the enemy we should be fighting.
