1,999 Died

Okay, so you read my post wrong. What exactly did you mean? IF he gets extended to stay? So be it, we are a military family, those things happen. Doesn't come back because he is killed? I would be heartbroken for him, myself, my children, and our families, however, I would never feel that his death was in vain. He is a career military man, serving 9 years of active duty with the Marine Corps, and has now been in the Air National Guard since 1997. He loves his country, and he loves what he does, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

:grouphug: My dh is career military as well. I hope that if your dh must go again, his deployment goes as fast as possible, and that he returns to you safely.

My dh is also, more than likely, career military. We are on our 2 Iraq deployment and have done Afghan also. I agree with all Briarmom said and wish you good communication as well.

What does that mean, even if you misunderstood? My dh is deployed right now to Iraq for another year. Are you trying to imply bad things for military famlies? This is not an easy lifestyle but myself and other wives voluntarily give our husbands up for a year + so they can protect your freedoms. You have the freedom to wish him illwill but you should probably think that quietly to yourself.

And 15k injured, and countless others from the civilian corps dead and injured.

Enough already. In my mind, anybody who blindly follows this president about Iraq has their head in the sand. This president did not go to Iraq to save freedom. He had plans before 9/11. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Iraq did not have WMD's. WMD story was cooked up. But, all these people say gung ho on the war. It is amazing to me that so many people are willing to sacrifice not only their life, but their family's (in not having a parent, child, come back, etc.) to blindly follow this president, who has been shown to be untruthful about the entire situation. You may feel its ok to send your husband to Iraq, to face bullets, bombs, but I do not. He is not saving my freedom by being their. He is wagging the dog, and trying to get some oil for Prez's friends, and, making Halliburton a ton of money on the side. Now, watch this drive!

Well said. I think military families understand more than anyone the sacrifices.

Here are some thought provoking figures.

Very eye-opening statistics- thank you for posting that.

As you can see by one of my tickers, we have a personal investment in this war too. All I can say is that my DH knew exactly what he was getting into when he *volunteered* to join the Marine Corps, then the Army Nat'l Guard. He, and everyone else he tells me about, are proudly doing their jobs. They want to come home too, but not until the job is done.

That statement, whether you "misunderstood" or not is, one of the most heartless statements that I have ever seen on this board. I am stunned! Simply shocked! From every angle I tried to view your words it rang to be loathsome and cruel. :badpc:

Have a peacefull evening Cardaway :guilty:

I hope there all safe (My cousin is near there, luckily he isnt fighting anymore he is the computer guy) :grouphug:

My father was a military man too for many years. He was even in Vietnam as a matter of fact.

I learned as a child that this was his chosen profession and that he was proud of it. I was always proud of him and what he did for other countries. I can understand how many here feel.

I hope that all who serve somehow stay safe and return home soon. I think that the miltary families have done more than enough now and deserve to have their loved ones home. JMO.

My comment was about the whole stop loss deal. I realize it doesn't make any sense because I read you post incorrectly.

I know people who believed as strongly in the military as you seem to until their family member was not allowed to come home. Families were ruined.

I'm sorry for any confusion I caused. I never meant any ill will with my comment.

My husband is currently on his second tour (back to back) in Iraq. He has been gone for 17 months and wont be home until sometime next summer. IF we're lucky he may get to come home on leave again for two weeks. My children are the heros, giving up their daddy for this time. As far as I'm concerned the ONLY one's who have the right to witch about what is going on over there are the guys and gals in the sand!!! They are the one's who are facing whats going on over there bravely. The folks I know that are deployed or recently returned have ALL said that we were right to go, that we ARE doing good things and that if we hadn't bad things WOULD have happened to us at home. This man was a MONSTER!!! as was his regime. My husband recently captured a "bad guy" who was responsible for killing 26 !!! children!!!!!!!!!!!! I would hope that Lord forbid anything ever happened to our might and strength that some brave soul from another land would come to my childrens rescue!!! These men are not dying in vain...they are protecting those who can't protect themselfs...greater love has no man than he lay down his life for another. If my husband is willing to do that (and yes sometimes it is very hard to understand that loyalty) than he is a TRUE and mighty hero not only here but in Iraq as well.

Thank you for telling us what the media (and others  ) don't want the American public to know! And thanks to you, your kids and your DH for your sacrifices!!!!

If the media had done their job before the war, we might not have had a war. I just love how it is all the media's fault. 2000 Americans have died beacuse Bush lied. All the people in the military can tell themselves whatever they need to in order to do what they have to do. I believe that history will show that the war was never about our freedom or even the Iraqi's freedom. I think that when we learn the truth about what this administration has done a lot of people are going to realize that their loved ones died in vain, and that will be a very sad day.

Don't confuse this horrible war with the warriors who bravely go where they are sent and do their duty at a high cost to them and their families.

I don't support George Bush or the war in Iraq but I honor and support those who serve and the veterans who went before them.

How can I do that? Easily. I love my old marine whose life was forever altered by two tours in Vietnam. I hated that war too.

I think history will have few words of praise for this president or his policies.

May God bless the souls of those 2000 and comfort their families and friends.

First off, none of us "sent our husbands to Iraq" the military did. A military that they freely and voluntarily joined. Because of the courage, dedication and selflessness of our fighting men and women, you have the freedom to sit comfortably in your living room and disparage them, their families and everything they believe in. :(

I believe wholeheartedly that our armed forces are helping the Iraqis tremendously. I also believe that these brave souls would be ready to defend our land and our freedom if either were ever threatened. There is no denying that these men and women are true heroes.

Many in the media are anti-military (by their own admission). What conspiracy theory do you subscribe to regarding our presense in Iraq?

Bush lied -- what utter nonsense. The previous administration and UN security council have had the same info. and many in the US congress have made many speeches re Saddam and Iraq stressing the need to take serious action over the past many years. Our President and many allies finally took real action. Thank God.

Those saying to "cut and run" or that this fight against terrorism is not worth it are the ones who would have our soldiers die in vain.
