We live in Southern Indiana and take 65 to Nashville and then 24 to Chattanooga connecting up with 75 to get to DW.

While we have been this way many times I am always willing to learn. Atlanta is about halfway for us and I like getting through there before shutting down for the night, not always possible.

I always stop at the GA rest stop to check for motel coupons and have found them to be very valuable in keeping us on our budget.

Any hints or tips very welcome.

Thanks, Slightly Goofy

I agree, try if at all possible to get past Atlanta in the evening. Then you have smooth sailing the rest of the way South.

Just an FYI, once you get into Florida, there are new toll roads that get you to WDW faster.

Take the Florida turnpike, then take 429 S (still toll), then take the Western Way exit directly onto Disney property. (After April 4th).

Before April 4th, take 429S to 192, then turn left and only 2 miles to World Drive.

And that 2 miles at certain times of the year can be forever.

Be sure to look at i75exitguide.com -- it has a lot of information on construction, what is at exch exit, etc.

I just looked on Mapquest and Google Maps and they do not show the new road. How often do they update their website?
We always travel down I-75 and the new road is welcomed!

We drive 75 to WDW from SE MI. Dave Hunters "Along I 75" is a must. Have fun!

Sounds like you have a good plan! I would suggest picking up an I-75 book like others have. These give detailed info about hotels, restaurants and gas stations along the way!

oh wow, i never heard of that site, i just booked marked it

i got to check it out for our trip also

Gee, if only they would make a really good and useable bypass around Atlanta my life would be made. lol

Thanks for all the great info.

As of this morning we are thinking of swapping in our ten day April vacation for a twenty day one in Aug/Sept. Free food, nuff said. :lmao:

Our previous record was 16 days so this might be a record busting (hope not pants splitting) trip.

They had one back in 1980, but then suburban sprawl went crazy over the next 25 years and expanded well beyond I-285.

GA residents -- there used to be on and off talk about an "outer perimeter", an additional bypass about 25 miles or so out from I-285. Is that totally dead or has there been any talk about that lately?

Might I ask that you Atlantians get it done by September when I head your way? Hey, I asked nicely. Please???? :cool1:

Just think of the innocent lives you might save if you had a seperate bypass for all of those who go through your area on our way to Orlando? I would even be willing to pay a toll. Hey, the toll in Florida pays for a lot of other roads for the locals. Makes sense to me. (does that mean it will never happen??_ ;)
