Thanks for all the info. The info on the soda price was sufficient as I was just looking for a guess anyhow, didn't want anyone to take time out of their fun for something like that. It was good to hear that they will let you bring some on board though, as $2/can would get expensive!

Yep, its San Cristobal.

And, the christmas lights are still there at San Juan. Christmas ain't over yet, well it is, but not for us.

I loved all the Christmas lights all over and really loved visiting your beautiful city! San Cristobal sure made an impressive sight pulling into port. Absolutely stunning!

Holly!!!!!!! You're the Holly that we met on the Disney cruise and here I happen upon your thread about Carnival! I was on the ship with Tink and Jay when they got married on that cruise, do you remember us??????? They have since gone on a Carnival as well and say they would again for the value bt of course Disney will always be their first choice. I actually got Tink (Jenn) on two Carnival cruises with me this year, one was just her and I... that was fun! Nice to "see you" again!

Of course I remember all 3 of you guys! Long time no "see"! Nice to see you again too! If I had been on one of the Carnival cruises you and Jenn were on, I could have partied with you guys because I didn't take my monster with me. But instead, I missed out on all the fun stuff. Oh well....I made up for it on this cruise!

Holly - We still the other two girls that we had met here on the boards for that cruise, imagine! When Jenn and Jay come up from Florida (live there now but coming back to Mass in March) we all get together again for the weekend. It's not the same as being on the ship but it's still nice.

Did you bring any of your own beverages of the adult kind on board? That is one of the many things that i loved about DCL, they kind of turn a blind eye to that. It does help to kepp your bar tab down. If there is anyone out there that have have brought their own on any other cruise line or is this just a Disney Cruise thing.

I didn't take any of my own, but I did read on a different message board that Carnival allows you to bring a small amount onboard. Not sure how much though.

I have been on 12 Carnival and always bring some with me. Just put it in your suitcase NOT your carry on. Unless it's wine or Champagne they allow a little of that with them knowing.

Good to know! I couldn't remember exactly what other people had said, but I do remember nobody had any rolling coolers like on Disney.

Here's something I forgot to mention. I really hated how DCL's Eastern is set up so that you have to get up bright and early to do the customs thing at St. Thomas. We didn't have to do that on Carnival because St. Thomas didn't come after a non-U.S. port. I absolutely loved that! Nice to get up whenever I wanted!

Something else I remembered: One member of our group liked to have lime to put in her ice water, but towards the end of the cruise, the restaurant ran out of limes. The following night, to her surprise, a plate of limes appeared by her water glass. Our waiter searched until he found a bar that still had limes left, and kept them coming the rest of the trip. Nice service!

Then, on the last night of the cruise, my friend Cindy and I saw our assistant server cleaning tables in a different location and had a great time chatting with him.

So despite my first impression of our servers not being so great, by the end of the trip I thought they were great! The point I'm getting at is that I found the level of service to be almost as good as Disney. Our room steward wasn't great, but that could just be the luck of the draw.

Glad I could help! I know it was boring, but the photos are its saving grace. I know people are always looking for comparisons, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Tell Dianne thanks for her "encouragement"! I'm laughing at that comment! Mike sure is cute...and a very sweet boy, but WAY too young for me!

Anyway, I hope something in here helps your new enterprise. Maybe I'll come across you and Dianne on another cruise in the future. In the meantime, it's good to stumble across you on the boards now and then. Tell Dianne hi for me!

Holly...Loved your TR. I don't usually read the trip reports, but I had to represent for my fellow thief! (No, I'm not that young or that hip...) Just exactly what I want to read in a TR. Loved the pics of all the public rooms. Did start looking like bar after bar to me, but, as you know, I'm a little lame in the alcoholic consumption area. (The pic of the stateroom door saddened me! Ours in November was just covered with stuff we had made, the kids had made, fellow DIStaggers had left, plus some very funny comics from a totally nonDIS source.)

What's up with the cutie??
