1/3/09 Magic - First Time To St. Croix

Happy New Year DISFriends! :grouphug: :grouphug:

Happy Birthday Annette!
Happy Birthday Annette!!!!! How's it feel to be 21?

Happy New Year everyone, we leave for Florida tomorrow morning. YIPPY!!!

Gotta finish packing and tying up odds and ends.

Ok, I think one of my posts disappeared. Anywhoo I think I am finished packing but we may need to move a couple things around to meet the 50lbs. We should get some new luggage because our empty luggage weighs 10lbs on it's own. I just weighed it and we're at 49lbs but we still have two suits to put in it. I hope we are not over, luckly I was still up because I totally realized I forgot to pack my youngest son's pirate costume. Then I had to find where I hid it.

Now I just remember we will need carseat too. How are we going to lug all of this....

ok signing out see you all at the port.

We're back and tired!

Thanks everyone for all the FE gifts. They kids had a blast!!! We had a blast and it's so hard being home.

we're back and waaaay tired! Our 7 hour drive back to Atlanta took nearly 11...as we GOT to the port last Saturday, sunshinegirl's car decided it liked it in Florida, and did NOT want to go home. So, today we towed it against its wishes. U-Haul w/tow dolly doesn't go faster than 50-55 mph.
BUT, we got them home safely. Now, we just hope that the problem arose from something the mechanic did when it was in for routine maintenance a couple of weeks ago. Send sunshinegirl and bigdaddydon some pixie dust please!

We had a great time! I can't wait to post some pictures!!! Hope everyone else gets home safely.

We are home too and also very tired. We came home to a foot of new snow. :sad2: Our flight was only delayed two hours.
Pixie dust for Sunshinegirl!:wizard:
Thank you every one for the FE gifts. It was fun!

I just found some light up rings that were left in the truck that were supposed to be part of our FE gifts. What a bummer, I knew I was missing something.

PD to sunshinegirl.

how I spent my day at Castaway Cay...ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

We drove straight back to Maryland and arrived just after 11PM  I had to be up early on Monday for work then Tuesday was my doctors visit (not all bad news) but the drugs knocked silly for the whole day and today work again.

Now I'm transferring photos to my computer so I can post some .... later.

How was St. Croix?? We are on the 1/31/09 cruise to St. Croix in 2 weeks. Would love to hear your thoughts. How were the seas and what was the weather like? Sorry your trip is over, but sounds like everyone is home safe. Happy Sailin', Laurie :)

St. Croix was nice. Due to budget constraints, we did not do an excursion there, and only saw the part of the island that was right by the ship. But, Fort Christian is right there, and admission is only $3 for adults-kids are free. There is a public beach within sight and walking distance of the dock. There was a little market set up on the square, and a welcoming committee with free rum punch! :drinking1
While the rum was very well priced ($7-$10/bottle of Cruzan) b/c it is made there, the other goods were comperably priced to what you might pay elsewhere.
I would have liked to have seen the rest of the island, but I can't complain-a full day ashore and all we spent was $6 to get into the fort (DH and I...kids were free) since we went back onboard briefly for lunch.

We took one of the tours that visited a plantation, the rum factory and the garden. It was nice but I would liked to have seen more of the island.

They are not really ready for tourists but I am sure that will change as more ships go there.

The seas were very calm.

I looked at our Welcome Aboard picture this morning and IT HAS THE WRONG DATE ON IT. :scratchin Did anyone else buy their Welcome picture? Does it have the wrong date? Ours says January 3-7, 2009, should be 3-10. I wish I would have noticed while on board so they could change it.

PlutoJudy, that is so funny that you mention it because I noticed the same thing on ours. I wonder if you can contact DCL to get them to fix it.

I wonder how we could do that. I really would like the correct date on our picture. Any ideas?

Hey everyone! I was on the week after you for the Western cruise. Just wondering how warm your water in port was on the eastern? Was it swimable? I found castaway very very cold - so how would you compare your eastern waters to castaway?

The water at Megans Bay/St Thomas was very warm compared to Castaway Cay. That is the only beach we visited this cruise. December 2007, the water was warm at Castaway Cay.

The sad thing is that I mentioned the incorrect date to the folks at Shutters on day 2 of our cruise -- guess they figured most people wouldn't notice it. :(
