1/3/09 Magic - First Time To St. Croix

Okay. My DS & DD 18 & turning 20 on cruise are panacking that there will not be anyone their age on the ship. Anyone with this age group?

Thanks!

:santa: Our DS gave us both $100 shipboard credit for Christmas this year. :woohoo:

Bummer, I don't like to tender either. The only time we tendered was Grand Cayman and I almost fell. But, looking at this as a new adventure, seeing a new area on our third trip to St Thomas. And I am thinking we will have new and better photo ops from the harbor.

FISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE - FINAL COUNT
Total cabins = 15
Total participants = 43
Total girls = 9
Total boys = 9

Kathi,
Erin was a pred monster today.
Irene

Poor thing. I HATE when they prescribe pred when my asthma flares. The side effects are just so hard to live with as an adult, I can't imagine how they affect a child.

Anyone planning on rebooking while onboard? There are a few dates we are looking at. We will see.

We are so looking forward to "getting out of town". We have had very cold weather for December (nights below 0) and our usual snowfall for December is 8 inches and we have had 22+ already with a few days left. Fred used vacation days Friday, Monday and Tuesday and spent all his time blowing snow.
Now that Christmas is over we are starting to pack. We are going to try to avoid paying for an extra bag. We bought our tickets before they started charging for bags. We don't have to pay for our first, just second. That means less shoes. The wrong shoes can ruin a trip so I hate to leave comfy ones at home.

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness.

Brack, what a thoughtful gift.

DHluvsdisney, my oldest DD is 18 and is too old to hang out with my younger kids in ther clubs.
Her name is Kay.

We always do and will look at several dates probably either in January or December; maybe a February.

We are interested in January or December. Later in January would be my first choice. Januarys in Chicago are very long and cold. It would be nice to get away then.
September '09 to Tortola is tempting but during hurricane season it's possible we wouldn't get there anyhow.
We would love to do a Panama Canal trip when they do another one.
I was looking at the website and they have a 10 day that looks like fun but it would be almost $10,000 without air :scared1:

I don't think we will be staying up to see the new year arrive, we have a
7:12 am flight on January 1. It's early but gives us a good part of the day in Florida. Leaving early in the day reduces the possiblility of delays. Just hoping the weather co-operates so O'Hare doesn't shut down. We need some sunshine!:cool2:

DhluvesDisney: My DS is 18. His name is Tim. One nice thing about being 18 is they can do the adult stuff but may also get to spend time in the stack if they want to(depending on the counselors). He is pretty outgoing and will be happy to meet others his age.

plutojudy: We are planning to rebook onboard for november or december 09

see everyone soon. We leave early morning Jan. 1

Just got home from Christmas at grandma's and she is paying for the kids to do the dolphin excursion for Christmas. Whopeee.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
Has anybody done this? How is it?
We wanted to do this but I just read over it again and the travel time is 4 hours (1 hour ferry/1 hour bus ride each way= 4 hours) and the actual dolphin time is only 30 minutes. Think we are going to have to pass even though the girls will be very bummed. We'll have to do it on another cruise but congrats!!!

Awesome! I'll have to tell my DD & DS! They met so many great kids last year at the teen club (I hope they can get in again). My kids are Samantha and Maverick and I hope they can connect.

OK...it's time to break out the WD-40, smear it on my body and dance naked around the fire by the full moon...or whatever it takes to appease the appliance gods. I seem to have angered them-yet again. I went to make a yummy coffee cake for my 11 yo ds this morning, and the oven won't light :confused3 The gas is on...I know because I could light the burners. All I can think is thank God it didn't go out while I was Christmas baking! That could have been disasterous. Of course, maybe that's what killed it. Thank God for toaster ovens...mine's going to have to see us through the next week.

HEY..........NEXT SATURDAY IS OUR CRUISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :yay: :yay: :yay: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I am planning to prebook something... my TA said I can book only 1 person in a room then she can get me what I want when the new boats are out in 2011. I do also wish they had a panama canal crossing again... I want to do that a LOT!!!!

See you all in a few days!

Kathi,
Wow, you guys have been through so much. So sorry to hear about your dad. It's never easy.

Sounds like we could all use some vegatating in the sun.

Erin was a pred monster today. She just cried all day. 2 hours over a lost slipper, 2 hours that her brother wouldn't play zelda with her, anything, everything. Anytime someone else in the house would open their moouth to speak with her I would shoot them a look that said "be very careful of what you say" I had to call the team. They lowered the dose a bit.

Merry, Merry!

Irene

Irene,

I take inhaled steroids... similar to prednisone for her... and I take a med to counteract the negative effects of crying and irrational thoughts. It has been a lifesaver for me.... kids can cry and everyone blows it off... but for a 42 year old woman... not cool to have a nurse crying for no reason at all.... so I am better MOST of the time.

It was my husband... not my dad that died this year... and we call him "our daddy".. it will be a tough cruise but will offer closure too... and I do plan to prepay for another cruise while onboard... it is the best deal and onboard ship credits are getting us on an excursion we couldn't afford to do... so win/win!

See ya in the POrt!

Kathi
