1/26/2013-Fantasy-Eastern including Puerto Rico

Alright, it's been forever since I posted a question for everyone to answer... but since it's coming up...

HOW WILL YOU PASS THE TIME BEFORE OUR CRUISE?!

Rest of August in FL, the go back to DE.
Sept 7 Magic b'day cruise to Canada with DH and good friends.
Nov. trip to Disney for the last of Food & Wine and start of the Holiday season.
No clue where Thanksgiving and Christmas will be - too far away to decide that now.
May sneak in another trip or 2 to Disney between the middle of Sept. and the cruise.

HOW WILL YOU PASS THE TIME BEFORE OUR CRUISE?!

Back to school time now, Lion King broadway show later this month, Disney on Ice show in September, about 6 work trips that I know of so far (Richmond, DC, Baltimore, Boston, San Fransisco, and TBD), work trips that I don't know about yet :(, annual planning time, Thanksgiving and Christmas with the family (about an hour and a half drive), and then the cruise! I have no doubt that it will be ridiculously busy and I will wonder how the time passed so quickly :)

HOW WILL YOU PASS THE TIME BEFORE OUR CRUISE?!

The short version:
  • DD4 is starting "Maternelle" - which is French-language junior kindergarten in 2 weeks (eek!), which means we are laying low for September to survive the transition.
  • Start of the academic year for me (as a teacher)
  • Back to my usual job on Sept 1 (have been away from it for the summer doing research)
  • DH will be starting his research (too much of that in my house)
  • 2 conferences for me - one with family in Toronto
  • One trip to visit good friends - time TBA
  • A quiet Christmas, I hope
  • Oh yes... I will FINISH MY THESIS by December 31.

Well, happy day. I discovered how to get a (legit) discount on a car rental from MCO!:lmao:

We're spending about a day and a half in Orlando, pre-cruise. We're hoping to go to Universal Studios one of those days, since we've never gone before. This will also give us the freedom to pick up some of our adult beverages of choice, which will be great. We don't drink a lot and we don't tend to like what's served on board.

Now it's starting to feel real to me!

(Next up: excursions! ;))

-celebrating birthday @ Disney from 8/31-9/3 & on the deluxe dining plan with my daughter. Snagged a 810am ressie at CRT & excited for the new menu!

-returning to Disney 10/25-10/28 for MNSSHP & staying @ AOA Little Mermaid! Also got ressies for the wishes dessert party.

-returning to Disney 11/23-11/25 & hoping to snag a ressie to "be our guest" and checking out the new fantasyland preview.

-returning to Disney in December for MVMCP & super excited to re-visit the new fantasyland.

It will then finally be cruise time & looking forward to my glass of bubbly in concierge wuth my mom & daughter (our first vacation together!) while leaving the port & trying not to think of how much $ I've willingly given Disney in 6 months. :rotfl:

You are going to love AofA resort. My DD works there and absolutely loves it. The Nemo pool is super cool. Was just over there for dinner tonight after she got off work, their made to order create your own pasta was super good and a huge portion.
She'll be spending the night in Little Mermaid next month, I'll let you know how she likes it.

Have you done the Wishes dessert party before? We just did it a couple weeks ago with friends and DD & I did it either last year or 2 years ago. We really like it and the food is really good to.

I have never gone to the dessert party but have ressies in October! I'm so terribly excited!! :)

Any newbees or oldbees that would like to sign up to be in our FE group just PM me and let me know, we have 4 rooms already. I am only going to do 12 rooms per group and you can stay in one group and be small or be in as many groups as you like. So come on and get in the FE group early:cool1:

Hey! Only 159 days to go!

Since summer is wrapping up for many of us, I know I'm thinking about buying what I need, now, so we're not panicking in January. Like, sunblock! What's your favorite kind (brand, type, whatever!) of sun protection?

Me? I've gotten us hooked on the Banana Boat kids 50SPF spray. It's unscented and it covers well. We wore it for a full day in Cedar Point and, other than some occasional shoulder reapplication, it did a GREAT job. I love the convenience of the spray and that it doesn't have a perfume.

We also always travel with sunglasses and baseball caps. Sadly, my Minnie hat has reached the state of "gross" so I've moved on to my Boston Red Sox hat (in white, of course), which is super important because I have very dark hair!

HOW WILL YOU PASS THE TIME BEFORE OUR CRUISE?!

Sun-protection clothing - shirts and hats mostly - especially for the 4 year old - is our first line, with sunblock next for the bits that aren't covered, especially when we go South with very white Canadian winter skin. We stick to the sunscreen they use at his daycare because we know his skin doesn't react to it. (Ombrelle for kids.)

We parents just use whatever is around. ;)

thanks for the facebook group add CBlack. Just watching the ship in port on the web and all the thunderstorms at the Port. They have added sound on the webcam now, I wonder if we can hear the sail-away party music.

No problem!

NOW your ticker says 4 months and 29 days!!

Did you see that those of us in the midwest might get the remnants of tropical storm Isaac? Well, we need the rain, I guess!

Yes I saw that...we could definitely use the rain, but not sure I want the wind that will go with it!

Last time we got a TS here, it wasn't much wind at all and certainly not nearly as bad as any thunderstorms we tend to get. Just... rain.

Fingers crossed that it stays that way! My poor husband: one year, we went to Atlanta and he got a still-strong tropical storm while we were there. The next year, we went to Harrisburg, PA... and another still-strong storm. These are NOT places that tend to get hurricanes!

Last time we had a TS, we had sideways rain. My St. Louis umbrella was not made for that! :)

Hopefully this storm will not affect both of you too bad. It's been raining very heavy here in Central FL since around 1am and is finally starting to let up a bit. Tornado warnings had been in effect since early last evening and finally expired at 11am, now we're onto the flood warnings.

Be safe wherever you are.
