Tivo found this upcoming program for me... In our area, Monday, 1/24/05 7 p.m. (Central) CNBC, 1 hour.

"Rebelllion in the Magic Kingdom" (2005) Shareholders sue the Disney Board of directors over a gratuitous severance package.

FYI - Goldi

i know becasue i am one of those suing over it............it was 140 million dollars for 3 months of work for ovitz............Eisner should be fired for it.......all we got done so far is made several board members quit and hired new ones who are not close to eisner.........when you hear the testimony from eisner in the delaware court room it will make you puke............he is going to be gone before long

I could not have said it better.

Save Disney

I caught the show. One of the things that really stuck out to me was how Eisner said Ovitz had Theme Parks, movies, ABC and that every employee except one (himself) was under Ovitz. My thought was if Ovitz had everything and everyone under him---what the heck was Eisner responsible for? He said it was a "business" decision to fire Ovitz because it would have cost more to keep him than to fire him. Since Eisner championed Ovitz for the job, who cost Disney more?

One minor point the show brought up was that Roy Disney would not seek a position on the board again and how this is would mean there would be no Disney family member sitting on the board. This is sad. There should always be a Disney sitting on that board protecting their name and heritage. Walt and Roy Disney's success came from a vision--but the vision was never centered on merely making money. Bean counters have taken over Disney—as we all know.

Didn't see the special but having the court case heard here in my homestate, there was something about everyday in the paper. Very interesting to follow the case.

Not a fan at ALL of Eisner. He NEVER shared Walt's vision...he saw dollar signs! :guilty:
