We booked our Palo reservation for 7pm on Grand Caymen night. I called Disney to double check that we wouldn't miss Pirate Night! Now we just hope our Palo night doesn't fall on Animator's Palette Night--we wanna see the show! Hehehe!
We wanted to book brunch, but it was already booked b/c I couldn't even click on it. Bummer! I would have thought dinner would have been harder to get a reservation for. I'll keep checking in case something comes up, like someone cancels.
I think the F/E thing is just as much fun for adults too! I suppose you have to be kids at heart to appreciate most things though:yay: We are traveling with no kids and are super excited about the F/E exchange:yay:

I don't think I have the ambition to do this! Plus I don't have a room assignment yet either so that wouldn't help matters!

OMG I figured it out....it only took me 3 hours and 4 posts to get this image onto the site. Who has time for this stuff?

I guess it has been a bit since i checked in last. Hello to all the new crew! My base is getting so excited. I am getting nervous, there is so much to do and learn...magnets, FE, logo oh my. Things are spinning in my head so many ideas and questions.
Cyndi you are soooooo into this. I wish I had more time for this. I will try and get Tim to help to work on a logo that is his thing.
We booked Palo for dinner on Sunday at 6pm. Not sure what excursions we will do, likely over all plan to be low key and just enjoy ourselves and relax. The boys are looking forward to the camps/pools and beach not the excursions anyways.
I can't believe all the birthday that week!! Everyone will have a bash. Just think of all the candles!
I am so glad to see that all the kids will be about the same age span. All the new friends and future emailfriends ( we had pen pals) will be great.
Gotta go and try and finish my boys special pirate PJs and fish extender. Wish me luck.

Gosh, after reading your report, I feel like I know you. Can't wait to meet you. I have to tell you that it is 12:43 am and I am laughing out loud/ and hard. I just read the part about beer belly guy while you were in Palos. That was hilarious! Is one of the couples that is going with you the same from your 1st cruise? Does Kevin still avoid "pish" water? and do you think he'll do the kids club this time?

I'm glad I didn't scare you away...I thought maybe fellow DIS'ers will be cancelling their ressies ;) .

The Boots are not going with us. We are travelling with our neighbors who have read that trip report and are now paranoid I'm going to write crazy things about them. Of course I won't but they don't need to know that.

Kevin actually swam in the ocean for the first time at the end of this past summer. I am hoping he will do the same on the cruise. He says he'll try the Mickey slide but I doubt he will. He has already said he doesn't want to do the kids club but we're hoping he'll go with Nicholas and Kaitlyn who are his age. Of course I'm not counting on that and we might have to cancel Palo or just dump him on our friends or pay Stephanie to watch him. Plus he has had 2 years of speech therapy and people can actually understand him now...which can be good or bad, depending on the day :rolleyes1

Okay everyone, we are down to 64 more days! We are flying to the States in just 51 days! I am so excited, my kids are more excited about our trip than Christmas!
I have booked the stingray city tour in GC, the beach break in Cozumel, and my DH and DS will do Parasailing at CC. In Key West I think we might take the Old Town Trolley, and head back to the ship, not too interested in much there. Well, see you all in 64! :cheer2: :cloud9:

I just read your trip report and enjoyed it immensely! I'm so excited!!!!!!! I'm actually going to WDW a week from today, but I'm way more looking forward to the cruise!!!!!!!!

Is anyone thinking about doing the Xcaret excursion in Cozumel? I have read a few excellent reviews with pics on here and Xcaret seems awesome--aside from the fact that we won't have a ton of time to explore it. We are pretty interested in swimming/floating down the underground river.
Actually we were debating between Xcaret or 'Caverns and Underground Snorkel" excursions in Cozumel. Not sure which we'll decide yet. Anyone have any input?
Thanks :-)

Hello,

another bunch of Canadians here. Dh (Andre), Myself (Sophie), and our daughter Elsa (4 1/2) will be on our very first Disney cruise - we are Carnival veterans, I finally got DH to agree to pay a premium for a Disney cruise while DD is still princess-obsessed. We'll be at the Wilderness Lodge for 5 days prior to the cruise.

We have booked a Guaranty cat 10 stateroom and hoping for an upgrade; from what I hear we should find out a couple of weeks from the cruise.

For excursions, we have decided to visit Fort Zach Taylor in Key West, go to 7-mile beach in Cayman on our own, try Paradise beach in Cozumel (maybe do Chakanaab park instead, not sure), and Castaway not sure yet. I would love to parasail but I am not sure if I will. DH would stay with DD and I am not sure I want to go alone...:)

I would like to participate in the FE as well, but we do not have a cabin #. I suppose I could add that in as we get it. I am NOT a crafty type, so any hints on making a FE would be appreciated! Also, can the goodies be one per family or all individual???

2 months to go!

There are underground caves to snorkel in? I didn't see that anywhere.........

Anyone have an 11 or 12 year old DD on this sailing? My DD Steph is looking for an email buddy. We are traveling with two other 11 year old girls so I offer an instant group of friends to anyone interested!!

Welcome and happy to have you join us. Just let us know your room number as soon as you get it.

Wow, sounds like your vacation is going to be great (5 days at WDW and 7 day cruise). For the FE, one per cabin is OK. There are no hard and fast rules. Just some fun trinkets for the kids (+/- adults) to find when they return to their room at night. As for what you want to use as an FE, you can use anything that can hang from one of those Fish things on the wall. There is a woman on Ebay that will make one for you, (I think they are about $30) somewhere on this forum is directions to make one yourself, or you can find something to hang. I even read about someone who attached a few potholders together and hung with ribbon. I'm just using a halloween princess trick or treat bag for my daughter. You could even use a cloth bag that you have lying around. Or, go to a craft store, buy a canvas tote bag and get some markers. Have Elsa color it. You could even get some disney decals or iron ons and put them on. Use a zip tie to hang it so no one steals it or knocks it down.

BTW, my daughter is 5 and one of the other families we are going with has a daughter 4 1/2. So Elsa will have lots of princess company. Don't forget to pack her princess gowns for dinner and pictures!

Hi Cyndi !

Yes, I found someone to make me a FE...we haven't discussed price yet. Great idea to put a tie-wrap on.

And Elsa will probably spend the week in a princess dress. She has been princess-obsessed for 2 years, and has gotten a new dress for every bday and xmas, so we have quite the collection! Current obsession is Ariel. Here she is meeting Ariel at WDW in October:

do you think the girls will spend time at the club? I know Elsa loved Camp Carnival and was begging to go all the time, I can't imagine that she wouldn't like the Disney club. Dh is already complaining we hardly saw her on our last cruise...lol

Have you booked your excursions yet?

OMG... she makes the perfect mermaid with her beautiful "Ariel-colored" hair. I love that costume she is wearing. We have a couple, but none that nice. I love the bottom if it. I expect Jill to spend most of her time in the Oceaners Club. At the mature age of 5 she is all about "kids". I hear on a daily basis... "who will play with me?" Now that we know what she looks like, we will look for Elsa in the kids club.

We aren't doing any excursions. We are just going to walk around Keywest in the early afternoon (we have Palo brunch at 1030 am that day) Maybe we'll rent one of those electric cars. For Cozamel and Grand Caymen, we might just take a taxi to a beach and snorkel/swim if the weather is warm enough... or stay on the boat and enjoy. And for Key West, we are just going to hang out. We might snorkel/ swim and possibly rent a bike. But this vacation is all about R & R for us. The excursions are non refundable. I am concerned about weather. So we are just going to play it by ear. Nothing jumped out at me as SO exciting that I had to experience it and pay all that extra money. Maybe the next cruise (this will be our 1st ever cruise)
I have read so many trip reports and advise, that I feel like I've already been on the cruise.

I will definitely talk to Elsa about Jill! That is when we decide to tell her. We are KOTS for now, because 2 days before we fly down she has private school entrance exams (the public schools in our district are quite rundown, so we want her to be quiet and rested for the entrance exams!). But I am pretty sure she will be in the club most of the time. After about an hour in the pool with us she gets bored.

I am not-so-subtlely quietly introducing the idea by showing her some pics of the Magic when I surf the net with her.

I am also reading so many trip reports. I really liked Linda's from 2 years ago (Linda, I fell like I know your family!). I try to read them when they are complete because if not it's like waiting for a novel to be written!

Right now our main worry is waiting to see if we can get in to early dining (we booked so late we have 2nd dinner seating). So I think we may have to go really early to the port to board and beg the maitre d for a change...:(
