How to do the FE exchange?

  • 2 families per day for 6 days (sat, sun, mon, tues, wed, thurs.)

  • 3 families per day for 4 days (sat, sun, mon, tues)

  • 4 families per day for 3 days (sun, mon, tues)

  • Other...please reply on this thread :)

Hello All, and Welcome to those recently joined! Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I just checked and still no GTY room assignment - mugsy I think the person you spoke to was mistaken (hopefully!) as everything I have read on the boards indicates we should know ahead of time. Fingers crossed! We are starting to think about what we need to bring down and how to pack smart (especially with the new luggage restrictions on airlines!). It has been SO windy here - had a hard time sleeping last night scared the roof was going to blow off! We also had a flood in the basement on boxing day because we had so much snow and then a real warm spell (personally I think it was a Chinook but we are kinda outside of their range ;) ) so DH had to make a late run to Home Depot and get a sump pump quick! We had a lot of stuff from the move still in boxes down in the basement but we caught the water quick enough (thanks to DS!!) and managed to move everything before major damage was done! But now I have boxes scattered all over the house and it just looks like a disaster area! Oh well - at least I have our vacation to look forward to!
 
Oh - and anyone on late dining want to link reservations?? We are a pretty friendly family DH 38 and me 36 with 1 son 6yo, almost 7yo when we cruise. DH builds custom hot rods (so any car nuts please speak up!) and I am a project manager (OK pretty boring, no need to talk about that at dinner!!). We just moved to the country from Toronto and both like a few drinks and to have fun (definately not reserved or prudish!). Anyway, if anyone wants to join us at a table and think we sound like interesting companions - just let me know!! :thumbsup2

We are also a Military family! Living in Germany right now, where it is cold, but not as cold as Alaska thank goodness! We are so looking forward to this cruise!

On another note- we are leaving for our vacation on January 11th, but should have internet access until aout hte 23rd, but probably won't be checking all that often. I can do the FE's whenever, just give me a time, or we can just have everyone do them when they have time- I am up for whatever!

I just have one thing to say...holy crap, this cruise is getting close!! :banana: :banana:

I think that's what happens when you travel after the holidays!!! I was kinda hoping today and tomorrow can go by fast so I can start working on my packing!!! :rotfl:
 
Has anyone gotten their cruise documents yet? It should be any day now!!!

Let us know about the fish extender rotation/schedule. We go with the flow :-)

As far as the fish extender thing goes, we will be making 2 rounds of gifts for the exchange. I didn't kbow if whoever is in charge of keeping track would need to know that or not.

Oh you are very generous!
We might divide our stuff into two deliveries, also. I think the FE things will get very full, even if we spread the days out.

I'm still voting for 4 families per day x 3 days (starting Sunday) then that leaves wed, thur, fri for "left overs". Also someone can deliver on Saturday evening if they are that organized.

Or we can do 3 famiiles x 4 nights starting Saturday night. (sat, sun, mon, tues) and leaves the other 3 for left overs . Thoughts???

Or we can divide 12 familes by 6 nights (sat-thur). But if you have something specific for a certain night (like pirates nite) just deliver that item before the specific night/day, and deliver the rest on your designated night. How about that?

we either have to vote on this, or someone make an "executive" decision.

I think you can make up a new thread as a poll, and ask only the cruisers to answer...I can try if you want???
 
can I deviate from the FE for a moment? I was just reading some trip reports- cause I'm a total loser, and I found out that lime green is the "official" DIS board color. And, "dISers" sometimes do a "DISmeet" on the boat around 330 in the main lobby before that life vest drill. They even take group pictures. Hmm, should we be doing this??? Might be nice to put faces to names.
 
ok something else I just learned, Exotic Rasul is a euphemism for a very (how should I say this) intimate private room in the spa where committed couples (or up to three people per disney- what?) can spend time in a locked room with beauty products and the like- undisturbed, no cameras etc. Ummm, this cruise is sounding better and better! This is very cosmopolitan of disney, don't cha think? They really do try to cater to the adults.

We could do this. From reading tons of trip reports, I would recommend the Promenade Lounge for a meet as opposed to the pool area. I admit that on my last cruise, I could not get my crew to leave the pool to go to the meet. I will try to be more persuasive this time...otherwise I'll just come with Stephanie.

And perhaps 3:00 or 3:15 since all need to be at the lifeboat drill at 4:00?

Oh and I disagree with your personal assessment of total loser based on trip report reading. Reading trip reports does not make one a "total loser"...your family will LOVE you for it once the vacation starts!! :worship: Now writing them doesn't come in handy until years later when you can reread them and be reminded of what works and doesn't work for your family!! :lmao:

I think I figured it out. If you start a thread, you can go to the pull down menu that says "thread tools" there, on the bottom will say... "add a poll to this thread"

I went back and checked and this thread was started by Melrosgirl. Would you mind setting up a vote for us about how to do the FE exchange? I believe the choices are:

A.) 2 families per day for 6 days (sat, sun, mon, tues, wed, thurs.)
