Anyone else dressing up for Pirate Night?

Calico Bonney William, here! (Yeah, I know... you're all quaking in your boots! Or is that shaking with laughter????)

Definitely going the costume route here. There was a thread going on on the other board saying that not many people did the dress-up routine. Well, we'll show them! I think it's going to be just too much fun! The ONLY problem I have is that we may be late for the on-deck party as we have late seating. We may just have to forego dessert that night and get our butts up to the deck!

Happy New Year everybody! Just heard that we're going to get out of work at noon today. Rain is scheduled for the Rose Parade. I'll definitely be staying home from that this year!

Getting off at noon...what a treat! have fun and try to keep dry in the rain. It has been very rainy while here in New york. Here we thought we'd have massive snow and it has been 38 degrees and rain almost every day!

I have never been to the rose bowl parade, only watched it on TV!

Are byou planning a big party for N years eve?

Well all 5 have pirate costumes but I'm still not sure we're wearing them to dinner (we have early seating). I guess it depends. I was under the impression that Pirate night was on the Castaway Cay night, but when I called this morning, the CM insisted that on the 1/22 cruise, it's on the Nassau night. Hmmm... She did say it was asterisked. Whatever that means :rotfl: . If that's the case, and we get our requested rotation of APTT, then we might dress up if Pirate Night is in Parrot Cay. We won't dress up if it's on Triton's night, we'll change after the show (before going to the deck party). Did you understand that mess of thoughts? :rotfl2:

Actually, I don't care what night it's on... we're just doing THIS all the time... !

I just called too, because the recent navigators have said the 3rd night, and this CM also insisted it was on the 2nd night! :confused3 I guess we'll just have to be surprised, because "it's subject to change," she said. It's hard for those of us who want to plan these things in advance!

Okay, I'll admit, I was shaking with laughter...! We have late seating too (did you link with us, via Kelli or Julie?).

First rain in over 50 years on the Rose Parade! I wonder if it will clear up just for the parade, as it always seems to do. I went once, and though it was fun, we weren't sitting in front of the Norton Simon, so the scenery wasn't as spectacular. My dad grew up in South Pasadena, but we've only been that once. It's just a little too early for me on New Year's!

Update! I called again, that darn type A personality strikes again!

This new CM said that the dining rotation on the 4 day wonder is actually repeated in the middle, so I requested APPT. She said it's done that way so that you don't miss out on a restaurant because of the pirate menu. Makes sense, eh? So, I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

We probably will change into our costumes after the show since you know how kids can be in costume for 4+ hours!!! :rotfl: Plus, I'm not that fond of mine, so the less time in mine, the better! My dh, on the other hand, looks GREAT! :Pinkbounc Maybe I'll have him dress for dinner, lol...

Since I'm too lazy to look through all the other posts, is there a dismeet somewhere? :rolleyes1

I think we had all agreed 3 pm by the mickey pool and then we'd decide if we all wanted to get together for the sail away party. :earsboy:

Am I right Karin, Kelli, Michael, Alvaro........anybody??????????
:confused3

I think Alvaro said he could be found at any tasting that they had on board......I forgot to mention that in my previous post! LOL :rotfl2:

Yes! 3pm by the Mickey pool. We didn't specify exactly where by the Mickey pool, though.

Wow, I somehow missed that, however, we will definitely make it a meet at 3!

Also, regarding the dining, Marc and I were unsure about what we were going to do. We know we're doing Palo the first night. We'd love to hook up with others though for late seatings!

The rain has begun in So. Cal (at least L.A.) The parade is going to be under a downpour is what the Weather Channel is predicting. I've been to the parade a couple times, the first one being my very first year out here. I lived right next door to Pasadena in a little burg called Eagle Rock. We left our house at 11:30 p.m. and walked into Pasadena. We walked for what seemed like hours down the parade route... actually it was hours. We didn't stop walking until 5:30 a.m. We sat down on a curb, met some great people, watched the parade at 8, and then walked home after it was over. We got home around 1 p.m. NYD. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

Let me know what I need to do to get hooked up (if it's even still possible) with dinner ressies.

Those of you traveling this day, drive safely.
Michael

I have never been on the ship before, so I do not know much about it. Any suggestions??? In the mean time, I will pull up that deck on their website to see if I can come up with anything.
It is not raining here. It started snowing late this morning here in wonderful New York and is still snowing. Luckily they are small flakes so it is only about 2 inches of accumulation so far. It does look so pretty as I walked into starbucks to get a coffee though!!!

Hi, Julie!! Glad you're having fun in NY!!! We've had rawin and snow off and on all day, but no accumulation here! Drive careful on your way home!

We've been in NYC for 24 hours now...we're having fun, but we lost my sil on the subway this morning.....she got on, someone walked in front of my niece, and by the time she and I got to the door, it was closed. She said, "next stop" and she pulled away. We spent quite a while today "learning lessons"...but no real problems!!!

We went to Times' Square this morning, and by 2:30 most of the stores were closed and the crowds were going nuts!! SO glad we decided against it!!!!

We're on our way to dinner, and then to the Improv. Nighty night all and Happy New Year.....

Anyone heard from Alvaro? Btw, my recommendation for the sailaway is either deck 10---overlooking deck 9 if we don't want to be on the dance floor, or deck 9 if we do want to be able to get to the dance floor. Someone should choose port or starboard...(starboard looks over the terminal and we could wave at the "people")

Whatever you all want to do...if the kids aren't shy about getting out and dancing, deck 9 would be a blast!!!

I vote for starboard and deck 9 so we can dance if we choose! The kids love dancing! Also when meeting at the mickey pool how about by the ears. We should be able to find that!
:teeth:

Glad you are having fun in NYC. DD(17) said aaahhhh, why couldn't we go to time square. With 3 kids in tow....I don't think so. :rotfl:
Don't lose anyone else on the subways! Have a great NY eve in NYC!!!!!

Happy New Years to all! :wizard:

Happy new year to all of you on the east coast! I don't think I can stay up this time, so I'm celebrating it east coast time!

I'm good with starting on deck 9, as well. We might have to switch to deck 10, as my son doesn't take crowds, loud music, and confusion very well.

We hope to make it. DD may be napping at that time. If not we will have to catch everyone another time. Get your lime green ready.

Happy new year folks! 3 weeks to go! No docs yet? I would love to see a picture of everyone so I can know who to look for....can you all kindly post pr repost a picture pf your crew?
Here is myself and my youngest son

Amanda! Great pics of you and your kids!

We will be getting to the terminal sometime between 10:30 and 11. I'll keep a look out for you! I posted this pic some pages back (Brian, me, Connor--almost 8, Caroline--4):

Our sons might enjoy hanging out together. Connor will not have check-out priviledges--he is still 7 afterall--but he will be able to go to the Lab, thankfully, since I think he'd be bored in the club. But it's nice that he can go there too and be with his sister if necessary.

He does have many friends several years older, so I'm sure that the ages won't matter. We can at least introduce them and see what happens!

Does anyone have experience with the sports deck? Would it be possible just to go up there and kick the ball around, or throw a football around--without doing anything organized? I know that basketball is there too. We're planning to bring some balls--yes, they take up space, but I don't think we can leave home without them!
