1/22/2006 Roll Call for Wonder Cruisers

Teehee I am no expert! Every other DISer that I have ever met says DIZ....but that just sounds so funny!

It does sound kinda funny. But "DISS" sounds like everyone is mean to everyone else all the time! As in "Oooh, I'm REALLY mad, I think I'll go hang on the diss boards for a while." :rotfl2:

I'm glad you did this! It gave me a good laugh :rotfl: --esp at this time when my son and I are at odds over his grizzly bear book report poster! He takes after me--as a procrastinator. Double procrastination is not a good combo!
Lots of sympathy from this quarter. Serious double procrastination goes on around here... with both my kids. If it wasn't for the last minute we'd never get anything (yucky) done. :p

you guys are too funny, reading this just makes me chuckle. Putting things off, Jeez who'd do that??? I guess that is why I just took down my halloween stuff today. HHHmmmm just in time to think about getting out the Thanksgiving and Christmas things. :teeth:

I'm glad that at least you, Julie and Melissa, tow the same line on procrastination! My Halloween decorations came down on the 2nd, but they are still sitting on top of the dryer waiting to go back in the box! Hmmm. Maybe that's something I should do tonight just to say that I did something productive! (Besides helping my son get his poster done, thankfully.)

Hey have you all planned a DIS meet yet? Please dont do me like my 09/18 Wonder cruisers did! No one showed up!

I remember seeing a thread somewhere about "that one girl" and "let's meet somewhere else and not tell her." Hmmm....

Sorry, didn't mean to be mean. Was just teasing. Forgot to put my little laughing guys in there. Actually wouldn't miss meeting dzneprincess personally, and that's the truth! :)

I remember that months ago we had tossed around ideas, but Mareda (the OP) won't be cruising with us anymore. We never did decide anything final. I defered to those who had cruised before. So... Melissa and Amanda, do you have any ideas?!

I was just kidding too. I am all up for a meet & Greet with anyone who wants. As you can tell, I am quite social! LOL :rotfl2: Any ideas? I know someone (not naming any names) is in a cat 3 and can get Palo room service! No, I am just kidding. Do we all want to meet with families/friends in tow and then drop off the kids to the club or whatever and meet at the bar, or on a certain deck, or maybe Karaoke......? :confused3 In my younger days, I used to play bass guitar in a band. (not kidding) :rockband:

Or maybe you guys just want to ditch me........and are secretly planning a party! :)

I am thinking about attending the wine tasting with DH. I think that would be kind of fun. DH was wondering if they have the beer tasting on the 4 day? Also when at Nassau, I do not think we will be doing much for excursions. Just maybe going to the market or staying on the ship to enjoy it when it is a bit less crowded.

How are the coffee's at the cove cafe'? I am a starbucks fanatic and NEED COFFEE? Just wondering. :drinking:

Wasn't there some discussion about Nassau afternoon? Or maybe I'm just thinking of the bridge tour.

Cove coffee is OK, but not as "candy-like" as I like my Starbucks....I'm a big caramel frapp or caramel macchiato fan and the things I've tried really aren't as sweet as those. But I've just added more sugar and dealt with it! :goodvibes

I had a mint mocha coffee once that was so pretty, I didn't want to drink it. It had 4 or 5 layers in a clear mug, and when I did stir it up, it was an ugly gray color. :guilty: And I had to add more sugar.....when we went in May, I packed some bottled Starbucks frapp in with my clothes. (Much cheaper!!) ;)

I have never had the starbucks frappachino drinks. I was always afraid to try. My usual is Non-fat, 2 pump sugar-free Vanilla Latte. (sounds like I am a freak Huh...) I do like to choc mint Mocha but it would take too many of my Weight watcher points and unfortunately, I like to eat too. I guess that is why I still have my baby fat and my baby is now 3! Ha Ha. Enough of that.
An ugly grey colored drink...boy sounds yummy.....NOT! :)

Can someone who's done the 4-day before tell me what time you have actually debarked at Nassau? I made a reservation for that 2-hour Junaknoo excursion through Shoretrips at 10am, but after reading one of the navigators, I think that we may be cutting it too close. I'm probably going to call to cancel the 10am and book the 2-4pm one. That will give us some time to relax in the morning.

You all may be joking about room service Palo, but I'm not. :flower: I would hope that there has to be some time when we can get together for at least some Palo appetizers--or souffle. Maybe it will have to be a spur of the moment thing. This is all new to me, of course! I don't know the ropes yet.

My ditching friends days ended long ago! I would LOVE to meet for coffee often!

Bass guitar! Wow!

I forgot to mention that I haven't played regularly for about 9 yrs now but I did play at my Dad's suprise b-day party last year so luckily you guys will not have to hear me!! :rotfl:

I am game for anything as far as a get together. Somebody speak up......please. :rolleyes1

Can a non-coffee drinker meet with y'all too? Make mine a chai latte. :) Although I will do a coffee now and then if it has the proper amount (read lots) of caramel and whipped cream.

On our recent cruise we started our DIS meets by meeting at the Mickey pool at 3:00 on embarkation day, so that's one suggestion. It worked well for those of us with kids, although none of them showed up to meet each other -- they were all in the pool. :rotfl: But the grownups had a chance to sit around for a few minutes and chat with each other. We had a very organized person who planned a bunch of DIS meets in advance so people who couldn't show up to one could have another chance, but not sure how that worked because I only showed up to the first one. :teeth: Totally different chemistry in that group than this one, that's for sure!

There was a standing meet at the Mickey pool at 3:00 every day, so one idea might be to have a standing coffee meet at the same time every day for those who could show up that day. Or this could be in Karin's stateroom. (J/K) :rotfl2: Also I think they did one "grown ups" only meet one night, but not sure how/where/when or if it worked out well. Oh, and they also met at Sailaway, I think on deck 10.

Lots of people linked dining too so that's one way of seeing everyone at least once a day and/or planning other things. We chose not to link because dh prefered a table for four and I didn't click with anyone enough to beg. :rotfl: Actually I think you can request your own table, but to be near the group, too, in case anyone is interested in that option.

I know Kelli said she would handle linking for late diners... is that offer still open Kelli? I'm up for it!

Anyway, those are some ideas. I only have experience with the first day Mickey Pool meet, so not the expert. I do know that 3:00 on the first day seems to be pretty convenient, wherever we meet.

So, if you made through that loooong post...what do you all think?

Hey Melissa,
How can I go about changing from the early dining to late? I was debating anyway because the kids just eat better when it is later. Can it still be done? :confused3
If so that would be great to all dine at the same time. If not setting together we could still all eat and see each other. I like the 3 O'clock standing meeting at the pool although I hope it is warm enough to swim. One never knows in Jan.

Also Melissa...since you are the closest, we will be relying on you for Florida whether to decide what to pack since it will be in the 20's here! :goodvibes

Good ideas Melissa! 3:00 on embarkation day sounds great--and even deck 10 for the sailaway party.

I would like to link dining reservations, but I know that some of you aren't traveling with kids! Will we be raining on your kidless parade?! Separate tables close by would be a good solution. I liked that Kelli was trying to get Parrot Cay for Pirate Night.

I'm not a real coffee drinker--must only drink decaf--so having a chai drinker in the group is fine by me! ;)

Can't relate to the decaf. LOL I take mine extra bold/strong ::yes:: :drinking1 DH likes tea though and I do actually like to have tea in the evening. Now that makes me sound old. :rotfl2:

I think 3:00 by the pool on embarkment day and then at the sailaway party on deck 10 sounds like a plan. If so inclined we could always set up more then if wanted.

That's the way I like mine.....if it doesn't taste like candy, I don't want it!!!!!! And I stay away from caffeine most of the time! With enoguh sugar, you don't need caffeine!!!! :jumping1:

Absolutely!!! But I'm not responsible if I don't get a ressie number. :hyper2: NEED that to do it! Alvaro and I will be at the same table, so I'm guessing we're working on the 2nd table close by. PMs will work!!!

Late dining is MUCH easier to switch to than to early. Early is usually filled, so its kinda tough. If you went through a TA, let them do the work, but calling DCL is a snap if you need to do it yourself.

Thanks. I'll just call them myself and see what they say! That way I know without waiting for TA to get back to me. I booked online through dreams unlimited travel anyway and never actually spoke with anyone just by email. :)
