My question is: Is it cool/cold in the dining rooms & theatre? I'm one of those people who grabs a sweater when it drops to 70 degrees. I have skirts planned for each night. Do I need to throw some pants in??? :confused3

Please advise ASAP! :worship:
Gayle

I would put the pants in. I've found that temps vary all over the various ships I've been on. I've never cruised with Disney before but I think it would be similar. I found dining areas to be on the cool side when one first gets in and the same seems to go for theaters, bar areas. I'm one who grabs something when the temp reaches as low as 80!

Now, STOP panicking!!! Be :cool1:

Michael

I am also one of those people that gets cold below 70 degrees so I would highly recommend you bring a sweater. The movie and show theatres can be a little chilly, sometimes the dining rooms too. I wore shorts and t-shirt to the movie theatre on our last DCL cruise and I was shivering! But my DH said it felt great! :confused3 I think a skirt would be fine for dinner but you may want a long sleeve blouse.

Gayle, Your plans sound great!! You should have someone take a picture of you pointing at Kara while she is parasailing, with a terrified look on your face! :rotfl: That would be one for the scrapbook!

OK group! I had my first official panic attack last night as I was trying to put together 4 outfits for our cruise dinners. While completing my doctorate while working full time and changing jobs, I gained a lot of weight. I started going to the gym in Sept. with zero results. Anyway, I think I have them laid out now.

I am from Iowa and it is cold here, but I still need a sweater in theaters and restaurants because I hate to be cold. :cold: I am taking pants & short sleeve sweater/blouses/ but will have LS sweater just in case. Like you I was panicked because being a stay at home Mom, I don't really have the need to dress up much so my selection is also limited.
Gayle - like you, I joined a gym (well 2 1/2 yrs ago) and was soooooo frustrated because I didn't lose any weight. I was going consistantly 3 times per week for 45 min - hour and would do some really high cardio stuff. When I had my physical last fall for my life insurance I was so devasted to have to get on the scale. With the support of my DSIL shortly after that, I joined weight watchers and love it. Now the scale is finally starting to move in the other direction. Well that is until I go on this cruise! LOL :goodvibes
Anyway, don't let the small stuff get in the way. :flower: Just go and have a great time. ::yes:: Sounds like you will be going to the same parks that we are except we will have DS & DD in tow so we will likely being doing the little ones areas! Maybe we will bump into one another except, I do not know what you look like! :sunny:

Hi All,
Thanks Kelli for the invite to the thread. I've looked around the boards for some time and finally decided to join. I will be cruising DCL for the 2nd time (with out kids! :cool1: ) I felt gulity the first time, but justified it by saying I was "checking" it out! DD 13, DD 12, DS 10. This trip is special for me as was the 1st one. The first one was with my sister and her son, who was a make a wish. Since she was a single parent, my brother was like a mentor and got to go. So I decided to tag along. We had a great time. This one is just me and my mom. We always wanted to go away together, but time, distance and circumstance always prevented us. Recently my Dad passed away after a long battle with lung cancer, so I told her we will now go on our trip! This is her first cruise and she is excitedly nervous!
Thanks for all your great advice. :goodvibes

Our Palo ressies are for Sunday night. We had read a poster who stated that she and her husband always went the first night to signify the start of the cruise. Thought it was a reasonable idea, and good thing as when we went to book, Sunday night was the only night available! We'll be trying for a brunch ressie once we get on board.
See you there! My MIL and myself have ours set for 830pm!

Thanks Amanda,
I think I will try and get that booked online if I can. Brunch was what I was thinking too. :earsboy: Is dress slacks and a blouse OK for this? :confused3

Actually I hate dresses so I will likely wear dress slacks whenever dressing up!!!! :goodvibes

How far of a drive is Orlando from your place?
Julie,
Slacks and a blouse are good for brunch. Brunch is actually more laid back than dinner, so a nice outfit will do at brunch. Nothing fancy. Orlando is 400 miles from me. BUT I have to drive all the way to Valdosta be4 I can get on the interstate so that slows me up. it is about a 6 1/2 hour drive for us...depending on how often the kids make me stop. I could do it in 5 1/2 if it werent nessacary to use to restroom and gas up! LOL

Gayle,
Dont know if anyone has answered yet, but it does tend to get a bit chilly in the theaters and dining rooms. ANd especially if you like to take strolls on deck. I would definitely bring at least a sweater. I have a friend on the Wonder right not, and the last I heard (Sunday) was that it was pretty nippy out on deck!

I just drove that myself last year hen I took the 2 teenagers to Orlando. I drove to Nashville then over to chattanooga then down I75 to Florida. It was about 21 hrs from here.

LOL about the kids/potty breaks. Going to NY we made good time when they were napping but DD kept having us stop about every hr when she was awake. You just can't tell a 3 yr old to hold it!! :goodvibes

I don't see it hatched yet? Yours hasn't hatched yet either. What is the deal? :confused3

num1tigerfan said:
Wow, yours hatched into a cute little criiter. Mine......YIKES
:scared1:
I, too, was going to ask you both when they were going to hatch!

I've been around and have been keeping track of the conversations. It's been a busy weekend, but everytime I had time to post, the server was too busy. This must be the busy cruise season!

I'll respond separately to different posts.

Karin: We breed and show Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. I've attached a pic of my latest little girl who got her championship last year. The shows in P.S. were great as the weather was perfect and one of the dogs I bred won Best of Breed on Saturday and received and Award of Merit today. Hope no one minds that I've attached the pic! (Pay NO attention to the Tomato Dress!!)
Michael: What an incredible dog! Thanks for sharing the picture. And congratulations on a winning weekend! When I first saw the tomato dress, I was in a real funk about my pirate costume (I HATE it). But at least it's better than tomatoes!

Oh, can anyone answer this. For the pillowcases or t-shirts you drop off to be autographed, should you wash them 1st? Also where do you drop them off at? Sorry if this is a repeat question. It just popped into my head.
Julie: I would wash the pillow cases first because of the oils and other stuff from the manufacturing that might interfere with the markers "sticking" to the fabric. (Actually, I learned about oils from the label of some new dish towels I got--they said to wash before use. Maybe it's the same for pillow cases??!)
