cost me $20.00 I'm so mad. My 2yo has bronchitis and was prescribed zithromax. His first dose he threw up and I know its important to take all the anti biotics so the Dr called in 1/2 tsp:confused: and the pharmacy had to give me the 5 day dose. So I had to pay the co pay for the full thing. Just a total waste.

How do you get your kids to take medicine? I always give him the tylenol suppositories, but anti biotics are so hard. He hates it.

LOL, I had Zithromax spit in my face last month by my 2 year old... I haven't tried this but I heard if you put it in the side of their mouth then blow in their face they will swallow... who knows????

My ds loved Zithromax. It's the only antibiotic he'll willingly take. With any other antibiotic, he always has to have a glass of water and swallows his medicine a sip at a time until he finishes it.

I hope your ds gets to feeling better soon.

I usually mix it in a little bit of liquid or applesauce

Please don't blame the Pharmacy (I'm not saying you are). In many cases when this happens and parents call us I'll tell them to ask the dr for samples. You'd ba surprised how many times the dr says up have some in the cupboard. It save the patient and it saves the pharmacy. I also have seen the reverse but it never hurts to ask.

It works when you put the medicine in their mouth and then quickly blow in their face. It startles them and they swallow without thinking. If that doesn't work, try bribery with some candy or soda as a chaser.

"A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down..."

When ds#2 was in the hospital at age 26 months, the nurses showed us how to put the medicine dropper in the side of his mouth and then blow in his face to get him to swallow. It worked like a charm for him. For my dd, age 20 months, we put the dropper right down the middle of her tongue and still use the blowing trick.

Good luck and btw I got the Tri-pack for Zithromax for myself and it was $66.50. I had to pay the WHOLE thing....almost at my yearly deductible though.
