We are leaving in 6 days to go for 5 days. Our "plan" is to go to AK for 1/2 a day (posts say it doesn't take a whole day & DS isnot big enough for most rides there 2yo 36"). We wanted to see the tree lighting at Epcot(5:55pm Friday).

Would we have to ride the bus to Epcot? and does anyone know ABOUT how long that will take?

CAN"T WAIT!!!! 6 more days

Yes, you can do the buses. However, if you can take your car, it may be easier, especially with your DS. If you are staying on-site, parking at all the parks is free for the length of your stay. The drive from AK to EPCOT is only about 10-15 minutes, depending on how busy it is at the lots.
Have a great trip!

I do it often, and I personally wouldn't bother with the car. You can either take the direct bus to EPCOT from AK, or you can take the Swan / Dolphin resort bus and get off at the swan to take the boat, or get off at the Beach club to walk in the back gate, depending on what your timing is.

I like to do AK then bus to the Beach Club and have a smackrel of ice cream at Beaches and Cream - then walk in to EPCOT through the International Gateway. If you do that - turn left and two countries later you're at the tree.

Thanks!! I'll have to take the directions with me so I'll remember!! Ha HA THERE IN 5 DAYS

HI! We just got back and took our DS (age3) to AK. What a nightmare!!!!! Even with the ride waits of 10 minutes or less, the park was jam packed. The poor design of the walkways is probably to blame. On a weekday we left at 1:30 , completely exhausted and even had to tone down our evening plans! If I were to do it anytime again soon , this is what I would do (with a little one): get there EARLY!!!! We were there about 45 minutes before the park opened and were able to get right on the Safari-go in and bear right . Just follow the herd!!! When we got off the wait was already 30 minutes!!! Then I would take your little one to the conservation station to pet the animals, and then to the Boneyard to play before it gets too crowded. That's About it!!! I would also get an early lunch (at 11:00). We did this at Pizzafari and it worked great. Then I would leave!!!! Take a break at your hotel, then go over to Epcot for dinner and TOD! Camp Minnie mickey is Okay, but the Lion King show (it is spectacular) is way too long for a young child!! the character trails are okay, but if you have any character meals planned , you really aren't missing anything. The AK is a beautiful park, but it was just too much for a little one! For comparison, our DS did great at all the other parks and really loved Epcot!!! The Garden Grill was the best meal of our trip!!!!
