1/17/09 Magic anyone???

Wow I cannot believe my "luck" today. :sad2:

The other day when we were out shopping I noticed my wallet was not where I normally keep it in the van. I didn't really make a big fuss and figured I must have left it in the house.

But then my husband calls me today and asks where all our DVDs, Playstation games, and our Playstation are. We keep one of those giant cases with every DVD we own (hundreds of DVDs - mostly the kids) in the van and we also keep our playstation and another case full of every playstation game we own in the van. He said they were no where to be found. Which means someone broke into our van!

He noticed this while he was at the car dealership this morning having our locks repaired. They haven't been working for a couple weeks so we've had to go in and manually lock and unlock each door each time we get in and out. Because it's been such a pain in the butt to deal with, we haven't been keeping it locked while it's been sitting in our own driveway. That was obviously a stupid thing to do. :sad1:

So now here I am 2 days before heading to the boat and I have no driver's license, no military ID, no credit cards, no debit cards, no cash, no annual pass, and a million other things are gone. Today the priority will be to get a new military ID so we are at least allowed to board the ship. The annual pass I can replace when we get to Disney.

UGH I just can't believe this! Something always comes up before our cruises. Last year on our way driving down to the ship our van (different van) broke down and we had to pay a fortune to get a tiny rental car on the fly. It was the only car that was available and we couldn't fit all our luggage in it. So ridiculous.

Hi,
This is the 2nd cruise for my husband and me. We took a 3-day Bahama cruise last February and loved it so much we booked this cruise immediatly upon our return from that cruise. We have four daughters (ages 10, 8, 8, and 5) but they are not coming with us on the cruise. We took them to Disneyworld for one week this past Halloween. They enjoy going there for the rides and attractions more than they would enjoy a cruise at this point in their lives. Also, two of them have major separation anxiety so they would not want to be away from either of us while on the cruise which would mean they would miss out on all the fun activities that the cruise line offers. I will miss the girls terribly but I am looking forward to spending some quality time with my husband - we celebrate an anniversary on February 2nd so this is sort of an anniversary gift to both of us. I hope to meet some people on board that we can get together with for coffee, drinks, talking, activities, etc. With the cruise being 7 days long there should be plenty of time for socializing.

It is a small, small world.....I live literally 2 miles from Northvale....my DD lived in London for a few months...loved it. I would go back in a heartbeat!!!

I don't think there is any meet scheduled yet but I hope if someone recognizes me from here they will stop and say hello!!! and vice versa!!

MJ

Yes! I am familiar with Tappan, although I haven't been there in some time. Lovely area and, indeed, right next to Northvale. My cousins went to the round elementary school (not sure if memory is correct, maybe Thos Jefferson?) on the road between the two towns. When they moved there about 35 years ago, we frequented the Fat Cat Craft Shop in Tappan.....now that I remember with more clarity, lol! Very much Benedict Arnold/Anthony Wayne territory -- so similar to Malvern here in PA, where I work....lots about those two boys!

Laura,
I'm so sorry to hear about your trouble. I hope you can some of the stuff sorted out before you need to leave.

Wow, All I can say is I'm sorry that happened. :sad2: It really sucks when you can't even trust your vehicle to be safe in your own driveway. I'm sure today is going to be hectic trying to get everything together at the last minute. Good luck with everything, see you on the ship.

Praise God! By the skin of my teeth I was able to acquire a new military ID today. Right now that, and my birth certificate, are the only forms of identification I own anymore thanks to the jerk who stole my wallet. But it's enough to get on the ship and at this point that's all I care about. OMG I was so scared we weren't gonna be able to go.

My wife is a big fan of DJ Mike on the Magic and really enjoying chatting with him on our last cruise. She's kicking herself, though, that she didn't ask him the name of his fiancee (he told her he's getting married later this year).

Could someone please ask DJ Mike and PM me back after your cruise (and tell him Cathy from NJ says hi)

thanks

I can not believe we are leaving for Florida the day after tomorrow!!!!!! I should pack!!!!!!!

Phew! Just realized we needed to let our credit card company know that we are travelling out of the country so the cards will work. So glad that was mentioned in the book Disney sent.

Here's a weather update:

Saturday in Port Canaveral:
Mostly sunny (yay!) High of 66, low of 40

Tuesday in St. Maarten:
Clear (yay!) High of 80, low of 72

Wednesday in St. Thomas:
Partly cloudy (No rain, yay!) High of 83, low of 74

Friday at Castaway Cay:
Partly cloudy (yay!) High of 76, low of 67

Ugh. I must confess I am having a horrible time packing clothes. I'm used to bringing an entire wardrobe for 3 weeks (2 on ship and 1 in FL or CA)...so I'm just all confused. And I have clothes literally all over the house. I've been frequently FL too much so I never unpack, woe is me. ;) But as the seasons change (and waistlines expand) what was left in the suitcase from Nov/Dec will not work this time.

We depart tomorrow prior to rush hour. We'll be in NC for dinner (Sonic)...8ish I'd say, then sleep. Then on Friday, 3 or so hours to Pooler, GA for gas (and Sonic). Then about 4 or so hours to WDW. Dinner at Mimi's Cafe up in Winter Garden, or maybe Millenia.

We don't have Sonics or Mimis nearby. They are 45-60 minutes away. :( Not quite convenient for a quick bite.

OK time to finish packing! TTFN

As I sit hear and contemplate our vacation, I realize I will be sitting on a plane to Florida at this time tomorrow. WE are all very excited here and can't wait for this day to come and go. It has been a long and tiring week and this upcoming cruise is coming at the perfect time.

I will post me good-byes later but if this is to be my final post pre-vacation hopefully everyone has a most enjoyable vacation and a safe trip.

Tim

Alright I REALLY need to go finish packing now. :lmao:

I have a suitcase just for SHOES! Between me and the kids we have 20 pairs of shoes! I mean there's different colored dinner shoes, sneakers, sandals, water shoes, flip flops...I can't believe we need so many shoes! That doesn't even include the several pairs my husband packed in his own suitcase. I ended up throwing my shoe organizer from my closet into my suitcase so we'll at least have a place to put them all in the cabin.

I just checked in online for my flight tomorrow!!!

Finished most of the packing last night...

Today I have to work until 5:00

Then straighten up house, make sure there is food for hubby and DD while I am gone.

Get a good night's sleep (hah!!!) Like that will happen.

Be up at 4:30, leave by 6:00.

Woo Yoo!!

P.S. to anyone flying out today from the northeast....another snow event right now! We have about 3 inches but it is supposed to stop about noon and the arctic blast comes in with temps tomorrow at 4 degrees!!!

Glad I am getting out of Dodge.....

MJ

Leaving at 4 o'clock to start driving down to NC tonight, staying at Radisoon tomorrow night. Let the Magic begin!

Shoes.....I have tamed that beast.....just 1 pair flip flops for pool, 1 pair dress shoes to wear Formal and semi-formal, 1 pair of sandals for general use, sneakers for walking a mile each day around the deck (I have good intentions, but I know the reality) and one pair of slip on sneakers that I travel in (makes going through security so much easier when I can just slip them on and off.

Now, back in 2002 or so our two DD's share a cabin with our friends' 2 DD's and this was the result.....there were so many shoes the cabin steward thought they were keeping the shoes for the whole group of 10 in their cabin...nope just 4 teens girls.....and, they were even lined up all across the top o the sofa (I didn't have my wide angle lens at the time!!! LOL!!)

I have moved to sandals for everything but formal night. :) And a pair of shoes for the gym. But I'm throwing in an extra pair or so due to lack of planning! AAGGGGHHHH!

Hope to leave in 70 minutes. :)

Ok, reporting live from WDW!! It's NOT warm! Oh well looks like better weather for the cruise! Well they're letting us into the Tiki Room! Check back in later everyone!!

ARRRRGGGHH!! I just went to check in for our flights and saw they had changed our return flight to 9:00AM!!!!!!!!!!!! I called them and spent an HOUR on the phone with them telling me there was nothing they could do about it. They had one flight at 4:30pm (which would had been fine) but we would all have to sit apart. My DD and DS could not sit with a PARENT - ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!??!!!! They said that they may take sympathy on us at the check-in. My DD is only 6 and scared to be by herself and DS has a mild disability that would not allow him to sit by himself!

I won't bore you all, but finally after talking to a supervisor and asking WHY our flight was changed when it was confirmed and the flight was still there (isn't that illegal?!) and we had confirmed seats - they finally put us on a 11:53am flight that goes from MCO to JFK and then back down to BWI - whatever!

Anyway, after a long sigh of relief it is taken care of and I can not wait until we are in FL tomorrow!! See you all there!! :cool1:
