1/17/09 Magic anyone???

I'm lying here trying to sleep but thinking about my cruise ... we leave 2 weeks from Tuesday and we need to get packing next week! I can't even believe it's time! I just have one problem with one of my sleeing meds ... I'd need get a 10 early prescription refill. Has anyone ever had to do that? (it expires on the 19th, and our shipdoesn't get to port until 1/2) ... anysuggestions to what I should tell my doctor?

Just tell the pharmacy it is a vacation request and they can overirde the early refill warning they get when you try to refill it. Done it many times- you will just have to tell the pharmacy personally and don't try to fill it by using an automated phone system.

Hey there!! I had the same problem last time we went on a cruise. We talked with our pharmacist who in turn called the insurance company for us and explained that we needed the refill before we left on vacation or it would run out while we were gone and they approved it over the phone. We paid the same copay as usual. Good luck.:thumbsup2

I have a quick question about the cruise documents that just arrived in my mailbox today (yahoo)!!

Anyway, there were luggage tags and a booklet of information. Looks like the entire booklet is for people that are doing transfers, flying, etc. We are driving our own vehicle to the port and parking in the parking deck. Is there anything else that we need from the booklet? Should we have received something else or is that it?

I went ahead and checked in on-line and printed out all those forms so I think I'm good.

Is there anything else I need to worry about, document wise?
Passports are ready to go so I think I'm good.

Thanks for any guidance or advice!! We leave in 17 days!!!!!! :cool1:

Bytor - those are beautiful pictures! I can't wait to take my own.

I wondered the same thing last year when we drove. If I remember right, we didn't end up using any of the stuff they mailed us, but I brought it anyway to be safe.

I still have not received a single thing in the mail about this cruise. Should I be worried? No confirmations, information, tags, nothing... Our card was charged the full amount and all of our stuff shows at the website so I'm assuming everything is ok. I guess I'll just keep watching the mailbox.

Haven't received our cruise documents either....keep waiting by the mailbox!!
We can hardly wait!! 17 more days!!

We received our docs last week but this seemed very early to us. The past cruises we have done the docs arrived just 2 weeks prior to the cruise.

Really, you don't need anything from the cruise docs unless you are doing transfers. You can get luggage tags at the terminal if needed. You can print all of your docs out online for check-in, etc.

Of course, getting the docs is that one last step to the cruise and kind of makes it feel official ;)

Hope everyone had a great holiday and has started packing. :)

OMG!! I just have to share with you all...with 3 weeks to go (Christmas Day) until our cruise, my DH surprised me with a trip (w/o kids) to ....VEGAS!!!! :cool1: He handed me the tickets and said we are leaving TOMORROW (the 26th) and coming back the 29th!!!!

Which was great, but the only thing I could think about was that I was only waiting for Christmas to be over so that I could start packing for the cruise!! :rotfl: It was AWESOME but all of our DCL spending money went towards Vegas...UGH!:rolleyes1 Now I have less than 2 weeks to save up again! :lmao:

He also got my best friend from Portland, OR to come meet us there...the last few days have just been filled with surprises...I am not sure I can take it anymore! :lmao:

Now I need another vacation...oh, wait...only 15 days until we leave!! AND I NEED TO START PACKING!

Great to hear about your little excursion to Vegas. Nothing better than to unwind from the holidays like a little jaunt. I agree though, that while that was good the cruise will be better and I think I would have wanted to save some money to spend there. But, you must soldier on.

Anyway, with the posting of my pics the other day of the large windows down by Rockin Bar D I have decided something. From here on out I will post a couple of pictures a day to whet everyone's appetites for the cruise. I will try to keep them general but may slip in a few of the family so here goes for today's installment.

Here a some photos just to get everyone in the mood and a look at the glorious Magic from different perspectives:

Haven't received our cruise documents either....keep waiting by the mailbox!!

Got mine in the mail yesterday  I'm sooooooo confused about the onboard check in thing though! I suppose i can just ask when we check in. In the most recent edition of the DCL bible (aka Passporter) it says that ALL passengers, including those NOT booked on DCL air or DCL transfer, can now take advantage of the onboard airline check in. Provided it is through a participating airline, and you are going home right after the cruise. Yet, on my docs it still says you must have DCL air or DCL transportation to take advantage of this. However, DCL still hasn't corrected the ages of the Stack on it's website either, so I don't know how much I should trust what they say :confused3

Ok ... we're basically packed ... I've found that this is much easier since we're packing summer clothes when there's 2.5 FEET of snow outside! LOL! Also, we've officially freaked our dogs out ... they're not happy we have suitcases out! Everything is just about ready to go!

Currently sitting on the couch with my boys who are fighting them selves falling asleep while watching our Disney Cruise Vacation DVD! YAY!

My daughter gave me a wonderful book for Christmas: Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. It is the prequel to James M. Barrie's "Peter Pan".

If you are interested in pirates, and mermaids, and fairies, and pixie dust, and most of all Peter, then you will find this book fascinating and heart-warming. And, best of all, the edition I read is by Disney Editions (part of Hyperion Books for Children), which means that there's a pretty good chance that it will be made into a movie!

Great reading while onboard DCL - it's magic waiting to happen!

Details: Copyright 2004, ISBN 0-7868-5445-6, New York, hardcover, US$17.99, C$24.99.

And, yes, it is the Dave Barry who is a humor columnist for the Miaimi Herald, but, no, it's not satire, but a very, VERY good explanation of how plain Peter became Peter Pan! If you like fantasy (and if not, then WHY are you HERE?), you will LOVE this book! Get it, bring it, read it on Deck 4, share it with your kids!

And, BTW, no I don't own stock in the company! I just really like this book!

Some pre-dos for our trip.

Yesterday, I made some phone calls. One to DCL Concierge and put in a couple of dining requests, regarding the rotation and the other about dining partners (DW likes to be just us and honestly so do I). I also called Cruise Line Formal to get some rental tuxes for DS and I. The last phone call was to the Perfect Gift.

While I know requests are just that, I hope the two requests we made are honored. I am hoping for a PLA rotation.

As for tuxes, this was a late decision. I just made up my mind the other day about renting the tuxes for both of DS and I. Even though I have a really nice suit we wanted to make this cruise that much more special (as if it can get any more). We figured we saved real hard to get conceirge so we might as well look the part, LOL. BTW, we went and got measured at a local tux place and DS look awesome. He even told his Mommy when he got home that he looked good.

I ordered a large sand pail for my DD and a tresure chest for DS. They come with many goodies, drinks and toys in each. The chest comes with a lot of things for both of them for Pirate night. The person who helped me, Shirley, was very helpful.

As for packing, nothing yet but most likely will start in earnest next week some time when I take some clothing to the cleaners to get cleaned and pressed.

No documents here yet. Oh well, still waiting.

Tim

We're doing a pre-stay at WDW, so we're leaving 2 weeks from today, hence the pre-packing ... Can't wait! Not to mention that I'm obsessive compulsive packer! 2 weeks from today we'll be at WDW!!!

I am going to start packing really soon. The reason is so I know how many clothes I need to buy lol. My husband and son still don't have anything for formal night and I don't have anything for semi-formal night.

For anyone who took this cruise last year, did you wear shorts and a t-shirt every day, or pants or what? Our last cruise was in November last year and it was FREEZING up on the top deck and I was wishing I had some warm clothes. Maybe I'll just bring all summer clothes with a couple pairs of jeans and a jacket?

While I wasn't on the cruise last year, I sailed from Jan 13-20th in 2007 on the Western. I wore shorts and we swam everyday on the cruise. There were only a couple of nights that the wind picked up but I would not say it was cold. A light jacket or sweatshirt would suffice. You only really felt it if you were up on Deck 10 or by the front of the ship.
