After searching the 'Net for information and suggestions on
DCL, I stumbled on the DIS Forums. While there's a lot of great information on other sites, this place is the best for user comments, information exchange, tips, and suggestions, so I've spent hours reading other peoples' posts. It's not quite as much fun as being on the cruise, but it'll do until we can get there.
After a while, I started copying specific tips and words of wisdom from other DIS members and saving them in a Word document, so that I could print them out, and take them with me (I have a memory like a sieve).
I've been doing this for months, and the document is now up over 20 pages long. Then I started to organize it by topic. Finally, it struck me that it might be of use to other folks, so posted it as a thread here:

...and also posted it on my website so people can download the complete Word document for themselves. That way, they can customize it themselves and print it out, forward it, or otherwise make use of it.
Here's the link to my website. The password is:

About 1/2 of 1% of the information is mine, and the rest are comments by other DISers. I'm a newbie (although a
commando planning newbie!) to cruising, so I've never lived any of this. But the Collected Wisdom of DIS members is amazing, and has also been a lot of fun to collect and review.
I should also say there is lots and lots of stuff in the DCL Forums that isn't in this thread, and second, I've left in conflicting opinions wherever I thought the disagreements shed light on a particular issue, such as seasickness.
And, of course, any errors that have been introduced into the transcription are mine alone. Thanks to all the DIS Forum members for all of this - and I'm really looking forward to joining everyone on board in 24 days' time!
Best regards, and magical dreams and wonders to all!
