1/17/09 Magic anyone???

Thanks for adding up all the DISers on board. We are from the Denver, CO area. DW-Lynne, DH-Craig, DD11-Connor and DS8-Blake. We don't have brunch scheduled until Monday, so barring any other "must do's" we would most likely be attending a meet.

Amanda,
Thanks so much for all the hard work - how cool!! :cool1:

I do need to update my info though - as much as I would LOVE to be from England, we are not...but still pretty proud to be from Maryland!!

So 4Goofys4Dis consists of Me (Janine) ::MinnieMo , DH (Charlie) ::MickeyMo , DS7 (Charlie Jr) :goofy: and DD6 (Jordan) princess: . We are from Kent Island, Maryland.

Thanks again...and thanks for planning!!

Amanda, that's so cool that you went through the entire thread. As I'm not sure what we are doing we will try to make it to the meet.
Sunday is actually my DD's 9th birthday. This is her birthday present.

As I didn't hear back anything about the fish extenders I haven't made one yet. I think I'll try to find a Disney Christmas stocking on sale. I think that will work out fine. Now I just have to think about the gifts, hmmmm...!

And its interesting that we are the only family from NJ on the Dis that is going on the cruise. Can't wait to see everyone!!

I am so excited to see where everyone is from- are we really the only Minnesotans? Glad we weren't trying to get to Florida this weekend- over 500 stranded at the airport. My kids still don't know we are going- It is killing me to keep it a secret but so far, so good.

I do have one correction Amanda- DD6 is a DS6.

I would love to do a Dis meet!
Thanks!

Hey, I thought some of you may me interested in this. It's a site that you can set up a phone call for a character to send a special meassage to your little one. I found it from getting a free one through Disney movie rewards. here's the website:

https://secure.uvoxnetworks.com/disney/

Here's a sample of the Mickey Holiday greeting (this would be great for those of you that have the cruise set uo as a surprise Christmas gift)

Hiya pal, it's me - Mickey!

I'm just calling to wish you a Merry Christmas!

Your mom told me it's your favorite holiday!
Aw, that's swell! It's one of my favorites, too!

Do you have a special Christmas tradition? 'Cause I sure do and it's happenin' tonight. The gang's coming over to decorate the tree. Everybody's bringin' a homemade ornament, and Pluto's gonna put the star on top of the tree. Gosh, I gotta run. Goofy's comin' early to help me get the lights and tinsel ready.

Have a terrific holiday, pal! And I'll see ya real soon!

Sorry! I had two or three windows open and overlapped and all I can think was I saw the end of the word "..land" and assumed (being it had Kent in it) that it was the other side of the pond! :rotfl:

I'm happy to do some of the coordinating. I tend to be a planner and have spreadsheets for everything, so this wasn't too bad - it took me maybe a half hour to put together. Maybe if I'd taken longer, I would have gotten more info right! :rotfl2:

Just wanted everyone to know that I just got my cruise documents today, and wanted to know if anyone else has received them yet.

I haven't opened them - instead, because of the timing, I'm going to put them under the tree as a present for DW.

Meanwhile, to those for whom it is part of their holiday tradition, Merry Christmas! And for everyone else, my best wishes for a joyous holiday seaons, and for a great New Year. See you in Canaveral!

Richard

DH just e-mailed and count us in ... WE GOT OURS TOO!!!! I told him to wait until I got home so we could open them together! YAY!

Happy Holiday's everyone ... no matter how you celebrate!

I take it back ... it was information about our pre-stay at WDW ... still exciting, but the cruise docs are so much fun!

Greetings from Nevada! We are really excited to be going on our first Disney Cruise! My daughter is 13 (almost 14) and hopes to make a friend on board. Other than her it is me, 46 and DH 47. We were able to get a Palo ressie and other than that we will be just enjoying all the new experiences. See you all on board. I have been reading everything for months and have loved all the help. Thanks everyone!:yay:

After searching the 'Net for information and suggestions on DCL, I stumbled on the DIS Forums. While there's a lot of great information on other sites, this place is the best for user comments, information exchange, tips, and suggestions, so I've spent hours reading other peoples' posts. It's not quite as much fun as being on the cruise, but it'll do until we can get there.

After a while, I started copying specific tips and words of wisdom from other DIS members and saving them in a Word document, so that I could print them out, and take them with me (I have a memory like a sieve).

I've been doing this for months, and the document is now up over 20 pages long. Then I started to organize it by topic. Finally, it struck me that it might be of use to other folks, so posted it as a thread here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1907765http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1907765

...and also posted it on my website so people can download the complete Word document for themselves. That way, they can customize it themselves and print it out, forward it, or otherwise make use of it.

Here's the link to my website. The password is: DISfriend

About 1/2 of 1% of the information is mine, and the rest are comments by other DISers. I'm a newbie (although a commando planning newbie!) to cruising, so I've never lived any of this. But the Collected Wisdom of DIS members is amazing, and has also been a lot of fun to collect and review.

I should also say there is lots and lots of stuff in the DCL Forums that isn't in this thread, and second, I've left in conflicting opinions wherever I thought the disagreements shed light on a particular issue, such as seasickness.

And, of course, any errors that have been introduced into the transcription are mine alone. Thanks to all the DIS Forum members for all of this - and I'm really looking forward to joining everyone on board in 24 days' time!

Best regards, and magical dreams and wonders to all!
Richard

hgon76 (Acushnet, MA): //
Hello, its actually me, my DH, DS 13, and DD 6 :) . Friends of ours are also coming. It will be my friend, her fiance, her DD 14, and her DS 7 :yay: I'm concerned about whether or not my DS 13 and her DD 14 will be able to hang out:guilty: . I know they changed the age groups and my DS will not be allowed in the stack now, but does anyone know if her DD 14 will be allowed into Ocean Quest? When I originally booked I was so excited for the 2 of them to be able to hang in the stack together....but now I'm kinda bummed they changed it. Anyway, as far as a meet, we'll have to see what happens. I've spent over a year planning this trip to the tee for my family as well as my friends family. It feels good to know most of the "planning" stage is done. we gave this trip to my kids this morning for christmas. They were SOOOOOOO excited.

Wow, three weeks left. Getting down to crunch time. I know some have started packing but I won't until about a week before. But I certainly will be bringing stuff to the dry cleaners in the beginning of the week. I definitely like to get my nice shirts and suits cleaned and pressed. I think it keeps them nice and wrinkle free (for the most part) in my wardrobe suitcase. We are really getting amped up and can't wait. These three weeks can't go fast enough.

Amanda - I'm going to remove my name from the Fish Extender list. With only 3 families on it, it is going to be too much work for such little participation. I don't even have a FE thingie yet, let alone thinking of gifts.

I need to run out an buy new shorts. While its good that the shorts are too big to wear, it stinks having to find shorts in NJ in the middle of winter!:headache: And I think I need a new bathing suit too! We might be shopping Friday night before the cruise in FLA. Good thing I tried on the clothes last night.

Heeellllloooo everyone!! Just wanted to drop by and say I may be booking this cruise tomorrow. I had originally planned to do January 10th but that timing did not work out so the 17th is looking very promising!!! IF this date does not work out then I have to wait unti March 7th and that is too long!!!

This will be my 17th DCL cruise.....we just sailed this same itinerary back in October but I needed another DCL fix and personally, I don't care which itinerary I am on!!!

I will be travelling with my cousin (DCL virgin) and we will be celebrating our miletstone birthday year.....my 50th and her 60th (shhh don't tell her I told you) LOL!!! Funny...we have the same birthdate but 10 years apart!!! Birthday is not until May but this time works better for both our work schedules. Last time we travelled together was 10 years ago to celebrate New Year's Eve at WDW!!! 1999!!!

Hopefully I will know by tomorrow if we can book. sorry to hijack the thread but I was so excited!!!

I'll be back tomorrow if its a go and then I certainly will read the whole thread to catch up!!!

:cool1: :cool1:

MMOUSE it would be great to have you on the cruise! I'm impressed - 17 cruises!! How cool is that?? This is our first so hopefully there will be many more in the future.

Hope things work out and we see you on board!

hi im a DD i am wondering if anyone who has had a deck 2 large porthole would tell me the depth of it? or estimate atleast. is it big enough to sit in? thank u!

The stateroom portholes are just glass windows, with no depth to them. The only portholes that I know of that are wide enough to sit in are the ones out side of Rockin' Bar D.

Cool! I want a picture with DD in that porthole. I see everyone's pictures and didn't know that there was one specific location for that! Thank you!!:)

Ask and she shall receive. Here is a picture just outside of the clubs of the large porthole windows:

James and Moira at 5 on the January 13th, 2007 Eastern DCL Cruise

Moira posing in the porthole window

As you can see, that there is plenty of room to sit within the window. They even have it nice and cushy so people can sit and look out the window. It is very nice and they are situated on Deck 3 down by Rockin Bar D and Sessions.
