1/11/25-1/25/25: 2 weeks, 5 people, a million “it’s cold”s: our freezing but amazing trip: COMPLETED

1/17 continued

We decided to get some dole whips and head to the Tiki Room.IMG_6481.jpeg
IMG_6480.jpeg
Gabe and DH each got a dole float

IMG_6478.jpeg
And I got pineapple upside down cake with dole whip on top. So good!

IMG_6479.jpeg
We we were done we started to head towards Frontierland

IMG_6482.jpegIMG_6483.jpeg

We boarded the raft to Tom Sawyers Island!

IMG_6486.jpeg
On the way over we saw the construction going on at BTM.

IMG_6485.jpeg
IMG_6487.jpeg
We meandered around, going over bridges and through caves.

IMG_6488.jpeg
We checked out Fort Langhorn
IMG_6491.jpegIMG_6492.jpeg
IMG_6494.jpeg
And just took in the beautiful views
IMG_6490.jpeg
We checked out BTM construction again, wishing we could ride
IMG_6495.jpeg
After almost an hour, we took the raft back to Frontierland.

IMG_6496.jpeg
It was almost time for our Tiana’s ride, but first….CountryBears!

1/17 continued

On the way to Country Bears, we stopped and got popcorn and those cinnamon pecans they sell everywhere there. I’m in love with those things, literally, I could eat them all day. Sooooo good.

IMG_6497.jpeg

IMG_6498.jpeg

Then we headed to Country Bears. Gabe liked the new show.

IMG_6499.jpeg
Next was Tiana! I was excited to see the new stuff but really sad about losing Splash.
I’m glad we rode when we did because the rest of the trip after this was just too cold. The girls never rode it this trip and we only got to ride this one time.

IMG_6500.jpeg

IMG_6501.jpeg

IMG_6502.jpeg
DH was in the front row with Gabe and I behind him. He got much wetter than we did.

After riding we headed towards Columbia Harbor House. We got a table upstairs, next to a window with the best view!

IMG_6508.jpegIMG_6507.jpeg

Gabe got the kids tenders meal,

IMG_6506.jpeg
I got a lemonade slushy and the trio platter with hush puppies

IMG_6503.jpeg
It would be nice if they gave a little more than 3 hush puppies, but otherwise it was really good. DH got fried fish and fries.

I love this place and I love sitting upstairs by the windows. It’s so nice to people watch and take in the beauty of the MK while eating decent food.

Up next, Haunted Mansion!!!

Ahh nothing better than a Dole Whip while watching the Tiki Room!! Such a good combo.
Ah I want to see Clarabelle Cow! I just learned about the Frontierland Hoedown and want to time it so I can see it.

The photos of food are amazing. Usually you see a full plate of food on the screen but in person it's three string beans, a piece of chicken the size of a thimble and four thousand fries.

I'm sorry we missed eating at some of those you chose.

After eating we headed to Haunted Mansion.
IMG_6509.jpeg
After that we headed around to Fantasyland, and did Enchanted Tales with Belle. Gabe was a salt shaker.

IMG_6510.jpeg

IMG_6511.jpeg

IMG_6512.jpeg

IMG_6513.jpeg
It was super cute. Even though we had just eaten not long ago, we were so close to Gaston’s and we just had to stop in for dessert.

IMG_6514.jpeg
We got a LeFous brew, a cinnamon roll with extra icing on the side, a Creme brulee croissant and a grey stuff cupcake. We all shared everything.

IMG_6515.jpeg
Not a huge fan of that cupcake but the other stuff was good, especially that Creme Brulee thing, that was really good.
IMG_6516.jpegWe ate our dessert and headed over to Tomorrowland.

We headed over to Tomorrowland and watched Carousel of Progress, one of my absolute favorites. Surprisingly the kids really like it too. After that, DH and Gabe rose Tron while I sat outside and people watched.

IMG_6519.jpeg
Tron was our last ride of the night. We had night time plans at Disney Springs, so we headed out of the park.

IMG_6520.jpeg
We got to the boat dock and the really big, enclosed boat was there. We got on at 6:44, left the dock at 6:47 and arrived at WL at 6:58.
IMG_6521.jpeg
As we were walking from the dock at the resort we came across the geyser as it was erupting. This was the only time we saw it erupt this trip.
IMG_6522.jpeg
Shortly after that Gabe found a frog on the walkway. He held it for a minute then moved it into the bushes.

IMG_6523.jpeg
We got to our building, and went up to grab the girls.

IMG_6524.jpeg

IMG_6525.jpeg
We freshened up, grabbed the girls and headed down to the bus stop.

IMG_6526.jpeg
We headed down to the bus stop at 7:40, and the bus wasn’t scheduled to come til 8 and it kept creeping back, til it got to an 8:15 arrival time and we decided to just get a Lyft.
We were in the Lyft at 7:55, on our way to a late dinner at Raglan Road.

Our Lyft driver dropped us off as close to Raglan Road as he could. We walked down and checked in. It was Friday night so it was packed. We waited outside the entrance and listened to the Irish band playing, enjoying ourselves til we were called in.

IMG_6529.jpeg

IMG_6530.jpeg

IMG_6531.jpeg
And the kids took turns sitting on the bench with the bronze statue of the Irish guy…I can’t remember who he was.
IMG_6533.jpeg
We were eventually called in and seated near the bar, in the room across from the stage room. We could see the stage from our table but a guy at the bar stood up the entire time we were there, blocking our view completely.
Anyway, we ordered some appetizers as soon as we sat down. The girls got the fried mac and cheese balls. They were good.

IMG_6535.jpeg

I got “pull the boxty”. This was uh-mazing. Sooooo good. I dream about it. I don’t know what it was about it, but I loved it. It was a fried potato thing with pulled ham, cheese and other stuff, but it all worked together very well. Loved it.

IMG_6534.jpeg
There she is, isn’t she beautiful? Lol

For entrees, I got “chicken with parcels of loveliness” I think it was called. Chicken with a savory pastry thing, gravy and veg. It was good, though a little salty.

IMG_6538.jpeg

DH got steak with a potato he didn’t like.

IMG_6536.jpeg

Gabe got kids spaghetti

IMG_6537.jpeg

I didn’t get pictures of the girls food, but Isabella got a burger and Emma got Lamb stew which she really liked. We wanted the bread pudding for dessert but we were way too stuffed.

We paid our bill and headed out towards the Lego store.

IMG_6539.jpeg
Gabe gets a picture with this sculpture each trip.

1/17 continued

We arrived at the Lego store. It was too late to do the make-your-own-Lego-guy thing, so the kids did the more generic version. They each made one.

IMG_6542.jpeg

Then they shopped and bought some more Lego sets.

IMG_6540.jpeg

IMG_6541.jpeg
After that we headed to World of Disney, where we all bought some stuff.

IMG_6543.jpeg

IMG_6545.jpeg

IMG_6546.jpeg

IMG_6548.jpeg
After we spent a lot of money in World of Disney, we headed out towards the bus. It was almost midnight.

IMG_6549.jpeg
We got to the bus stop and there was a bus waiting. It was completely empty. We got on at 11:58 pm, and we had the bus completely to ourselves.

IMG_6555.jpeg

IMG_6554.jpeg
We headed back to the resort and went right to bed. It was a long day but we had a lot of fun.

What day are we up to? It’s amazing how well you remember everything. I’m usually good for the first two days, then it’s a blur.

What day are we up to? It’s amazing how well you remember everything. I’m usually good for the first two days, then it’s a blur.
This is Friday the 17th, our 6th full day. I took notes on my notes app on my phone to help me remember. I would just talk into my phone and leave a quick note on everything we did. It was so fast and unobtrusive that no one in my family even noticed me doing it. It’s nice though being able to look back and see exactly what we did and when. This was my first time doing this but i think I’ll keep it up for my future trips too.

Guardians of the Galaxy totally messed with me too. It is the only ride I have ever been on that I was forcing myself not to throw up. Once off I still was afraid I was going to throw up for at least another 15-20 minutes. I will never ride it again.

Moving on to our next day. I’m moving quick because I have the time right now, because I’m deep in the Disney blues and because the trip is still fresh in my mind. Going through our pictures, reading my notes and thinking about the trip is fun! So, here’s day 7! Halfway through our trip.

Saturday 1/18/25

Today was an “off” day. No parks. I hate doing no park days but I promised everyone we’d have at least one off day.

We woke up around 10, since we were up so late the previous night. Sat out on the balcony with my coffee as usual, it was beautiful out- warm and sunny. The best weather day all trip, and the last nice day.
We debated on what to do- stay here and swim and tour monorail resorts or head to blizzard beach then do the resorts. We decided on the pool.

While they were getting ready I went down to the laundry room and put a load of clothes in the washer. I set a timer so I could switch them into the drier as soon as they were done. That laundry app doesn’t seem to work here.

Then we went down (Emma, Gabe and I) around 1:00, headed for the main pool.

IMG_6627.jpeg

IMG_6626.jpeg
They both swam and had fun.

IMG_6629.jpeg
There was this rude lifeguard who yelled at Gabe for wearing goggles on the slide

IMG_6628.jpeg
I understand there are rules but this woman was so rude and had no people skills. She yelled and he didn’t hear her so he didn’t acknowledge her at first so she yelled again and when he heard her and said “ok” she literally rolled her eyes. She was one of only 2 rude CMs we encountered all trip, most were great.

After a little while DH and Isabella came down and I went in to switch laundry into the drier.

IMG_6635.jpeg
I got back to the pool around 1:55, on the way back I took in the scenery.

IMG_6630.jpeg

IMG_6631.jpegIMG_6632.jpeg

IMG_6633.jpeg

I sat out and read a little bit and ordered more groceries on the Kroger app-they have great coupons on the app, I think I had a $25 off coupon for each of my two orders if I recall correctly, but it was a good coupon. Just fyi.

There were different games going on. One was “guess that song” where the lifeguards would play Disney music and another was Disney trivia. Then they held duck races, which was really cute. My kids didn’t win but they got to keep their duckies, which was nice.

IMG_6634.jpeg
Duck race

We headed back up to the room around 3:20. We were hungry and wanted to eat at Geyser Point.

1/18 continued

We headed back up to the room around 3:20 so they could shower and change.
IMG_6636.jpeg
I got the laundry finished while they got ready, and then we mobile ordered Geyser Point food.

IMG_6637.jpeg

I figured we’d eat from the quick service window and sit by the water. It’s the same food that’s in the restaurant but this way we save $ because we don’t have to tip anyone and we get a great view.

We headed down towards GP.

IMG_6638.jpeg

We found a nice spot by the water with comfy seats and a beautiful view. We sat and waited for our food to be ready for pick up.

IMG_6639.jpeg

IMG_6640.jpeg

After about a 20 minute wait, we got our food.

I of course got the Bison burger (with marionberry sauce on the side). It was reallllly good.
IMG_6647.jpeg

DH got sriracha wings, which he liked

IMG_6645.jpeg

Isabella got a veggie burger. She said it was good

IMG_6644.jpeg

Emma got the charcuterie

IMG_6642.jpeg

And Gabe, as usual, got chicken tenders.

IMG_6643.jpeg

1/18 continued

After eating, Gabe wanted to play pool and ping pong on the tables behind Geyser Point.
So he and DH played pool and ping pong while the girls played against each other. Isabella won a very long pool game against her sister. I played a bit of ping pong also. We spent about 45 minutes playing, til another family came and we let them have the area.

IMG_6649.jpegIMG_6650.jpeg

Around 6 we went up to the room to grab our jackets, then we headed back down to the boat dock. There was quite a lot of people there waiting for the boat already.
IMG_6653.jpeg
IMG_6654.jpeg
We finally boarded and head to the Contemporary.
IMG_6655.jpegIMG_6656.jpeg

We arrived at the Contemporary at 6:35. We headed inside, up to the shops.

IMG_6657.jpegIMG_6658.jpeg

IMG_6660.jpeg
I love the mural

IMG_6659.jpeg

We went into each of the shops, but we didn’t buy anything.

Then we headed towards the monorail. We were headed towards all of our favorite resort- the Polynesian!

1/18 continued

We took the monorail to the Poly. Our only monorail ride of the trip.
IMG_6661.jpeg
When we arrived we headed to the gift shop.
Emma bought a Hei Hei and some other stuff I can’t remember.

IMG_6662.jpeg
We had a while to wait until our Ohana ADR so we decided to walk the grounds. So we headed down and outside.
IMG_6665.jpeg
IMG_6663.jpeg
We walked around, enjoying the resort. Even though we loved WL, we were wishing we were staying there at the poly. It’s just the best.

IMG_6667.jpeg

IMG_6668.jpeg

IMG_6666.jpeg

When we were heading back to the lobby we saw they were playing Little Mermaid for their movie night. So we sat and watched a while.

IMG_6669.jpeg

Then we got our text to come to the podium for dinner.

1/18 continued

We arrived at our table at 8:15. It was in a little niche, not too close to any other tables, and we had our own tiki statues!

IMG_6673.jpeg

IMG_6672.jpeg

IMG_6671.jpeg
IMG_6674.jpeg
It was dirty though. There was a dirty napkin on my seat, crumbs on all the seats, the table was sticky and so gross that DH wrote “clean me” in the dirt layer!
IMG_6670.jpeg
The waiter was great though and he got the table cleaned quickly.

We ordered POG juice and he said he had his own special (non alcoholic) drink he makes with POG as the main ingredient. He brought us all some, and they were so good. He told us what was in there but I don’t remember what.

IMG_6675.jpeg

Then, as always happens at Ohana, the food came out fast and kept coming til we were done.
IMG_6676.jpeg
I only managed to take a picture of our mostly eaten bread pudding.

It was good though. Not great, just good. As usual the bread pudding was the best part. We finished eating around 9:30.

We were so stuffed. It was late so we headed down to the boat dock. We took the boat to MK, where we waited on a boat to WL. While we waited a duck kept approaching us, obviously not scared of humans and looking for food. It was cute and we had to keep telling Gabe to stop trying to touch it.

IMG_6678.jpeg

We caught the boat to WL, arriving at the resort at 10:26pm. We headed up to the room and laid in bed watching another Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie, and fell asleep. It was a nice, quiet and relaxed day, but I missed the parks and was looking forward to going back to one the next day!
