has anyone used their dvc points to book a 2009 cruise. I was wondering how the points required compared to the 2008 booking?
if i dont use the correct wording please forgive me as i just became a member.

First of all, welcome to DVC and the Disboards! :thumbsup2 We recently booked a 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise for July 2009. The points went up quite a bit from the 2008 points chart.

I am getting ready to book a 3 night cruise for Aug. '09. The points actually went down for this timeframe from the 2008 points chart. There are different season categories for 2009, so you need to check with MS to get the exact points for your timeframe. Yes, I am using points for this cruise. :goodvibes

Hi there,

We are thinking of purchasing and would love to know about how much it would be for a 7 day cruise. We need to know how many points to buy. We can go any time except the fall (no hurricaine weather).

Thanks! Rod

I am also thinking about using points for a 4 night cruise in Aug 09. 2008 points are 183/person. Was it a fairly good drop in points? :surfweb:

I'm adding a note to my post. We booked the category 8 - Deluxe Oceanview stateroom. The points for that category went up, but other categories may not have. :)

If your primary reason for purchasing DVC is to use the points for crusing, I'd suggest that you rethink your approach and pay cash instead.

It costs much MORE using points (valuing them at $10 per point low end market rate for renting them) than it does to pay cash! I have a 7 day Eastern cruise booked on cash for Dec 2009 and the points cost would be double what I'm paying in cash for the two of us.
