Another day closer to the cruise. YOu don't know how badly I need this.

Am going through a mid life crisis. Oldest daughter is gone and now the youngest is in school all day. I want to do something. I am a teacher by trade, but don't want to go back to that. I love art and being creative. Am I nuts to go back to school to become a graphics designer. Am I too old?? I just keep thinking I have another twenty years and I want to do something I love. Cooking isn't exactly a job. Neither is scrapbooking. Yep, I want to be a graphics designer.

Hello there everybody,
Talk about a group that is excited - you all are - ok I am to meet with some of the cruisers on Sunday in Key West on September 29th. The arrangements I am trying to make is that we meet right there at Mallory Square at Bill Fish Pier - they have drinks, music, food and it is right on the water - beautiful view - you can see the "home" aka the Magic yet see everything that is going on.
As soon as I hear from Ken with confirmation that it is a go, I would like to know how many would be interested in having a drink with some ol's conchs - I am also bringing a super knowledgable older conch - my uncle Abel Abreu - he was born and raised in Key West and he remembers so much more - it was his father (my grandfather) who was the first latin professor in KW and also taught Pauline Hemingway how to speak spanish.
Will let you know as I know and you let me know who is going to make it.

Elaine, I did not start nursing school until I was 32, and one of my classmates was 52! Go for it!

We had a very VERY busy day today. The day started with a teriffic down pour which flooded the roads all around the hospital. Charleston is below sea level so flooding is very common with a heavy rain. Of course many patients were late due to the road/weather conditions, and it shoots the schedule to he**.

Rae, the horseback riding sounds wonderful. I would love to hear about it. It may be something I will do next year.

(I've had a few career changes in my 47 years. The last one came quite unexpectedly when I was 39 and started to write plays!)

You all are just wonderful. I have been in a real funk all day. Looking at class schedules, trying to decide if I even know how study any more! Heck, the first time through college I know I didn't even appreciate it at all. All we didi was party and have a good time. Did wonders for my social life. All was not lost though. that is where I met my husband. We have been together 25 years next summer. I keep telling him if I go back I might find someone new!! No, he's too good to give up.

Anyway, thanks for all the postive remarks. It surely does help.

Forgot the whole reason for my post. I did call DCL today just to ask about dining times. did someone already post that they are at 5:30 and 7:45? Anyway that is what the lady told me and she did doublecheck (for what that is worth ) She said they woudl adjust the show times etc. accordingly. So what time will the shows be. any idea? Cuz you know, "we got to get that pin trading in" Thanks Elaine

Kimber, there is a guy who preforms with his trained cats at the Sunset celebration. I have seen him on the Travel Channel. The tricks his cats do are pretty amazing. He even juggles them! He in no wat harms the kittys, in fact he treats them VERY well. And apparently they love to perform.Just one example of the diversity of the performers who show up at the Sunset Celebration, some great, some good, some stupid, some REALLY bad!(like the guy who lifts up a stove, or the man who paints himself gold!)

Has anyone else been reading the thread about suggested dress for the cruise? It sounds like it is becoming more casual, with the exception of formal and semi-formal nights. Being adults (in age, anyway) we will most likely have LAPLAPL rotation, so it looks like our nights in Lumiere's will be casual. Ed certainly won't mind leaving his jacket in the stateroom! I'll have to give some more thought to what gets packed and what to leave behind.

It is raining--what a nice thing for our thirsty lawn and trees. The forecast is for more rain through tomorrow. No complaints here.

Elaine--I think going back to school is great. Most of us didn't appreciate the opportunity when we were younger. I know that I'm still trying to figure out what to do when I grow up.

Elaine - Go to school, I have been thinking about going back for a Piled, Higher, & Deeper for years but have decided - Not TOO old, just lazy! Fiddle-faddled for so long, now it doesn't really matter to me anymore. Graduated engineering school at 20 with acceptance to to Purdue for PhD ~ Just passed on it. BIG MISTAKE!!! Eventually went back and got a Masters but have always felt like I left something undone. Appears that my ill-spent youth got in the way. Did lots of things that I really enjoyed and have few regrets. Maybe a couple of things I would like to do different....

Anyhow, point is, DO IT!!! Change is best made in the PRESENT tense not the future tense otherwise it is very likely to be past tense. Could you POSSIBLY argue with that logic? DO IT!

Rellingtwin - Cat Juggling? Now that sounds like fun ... Is it anything like the cat herding that I do everyday at work?
Wonder if I could make a living at cat juggling when I retire?
Would really like to see that, bet it is almost as much fun as Racing Pigs which is going on at the Alaska State Fair now...

Rae - Alaska is a wondeful place. Has always been good to me. Most especially cause it is where GOD put Chrystina in my path.
She got out the USAF in Fairbanks and lived the "good life" until I wandered into her life on a moose turd hunting expedition.
We hit it off so well that when they had a "going-away" luncheon for me she came along to quote: "wanted to make sure you left town" ... Anyhow, Alaska is a wonderful place and you are welcome to visit anytime. White wine for the halibut, white zinfandel for the salmon. I will supply the salmon...
As a matter of fact, going out this weekend .... FISH-ON!!!!

I'll soon know the names of all the 7 dwarfs if nothing else from this question. My son (Erik) is left handed is my answer. OMG I am so tired, I'm getting silly.

Have both boys off to college and now spend my night organizing Hershey Youth Hockey Thanksgiving and Christmas Ice Hockey Tournaments. Why I said I would do it one more year is beyond me. I told them on the cruise I am only going to check my email on sea days so I can get away from all the hockey parents. Of course, I used to be one of them. I remember reading that we have some hockey parents in our group.

Well, I most go to bed.

Well, now that i am DIS Veteran .... I guess I'll tell ....

My reserach indicates that SNEEZY is left-handed, not sure about Dopey. Of course, I can be mistaken, as I so often am. Here is how "in-depth" my research is. I have a Seven Dwarfs desk set in front of me. Sneezy has his left-hand up to his nose. He is holding his broom with his right hand at the position a "right-handed" indivdual would have thier left hand if they were using a broom. I even got up and tested it!!! Also, on my Dwarfs tie, Sneezy again, has his left-hand up to his nose and is holding the top of his shovel with his left-hand. A right-handed person would be holding it with his right hand. By the way, (Dopey is sweeping with his right hand) Hence with my analysis, I declared Sneezy to be left-handed!!!

BUT IT WAS FUN.... Now what's next question?????
