Good morning everyone - happy Tuesday!

Back to work for me today. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

Annette - congrats on the pirate:

I really needed that day off. I feel a little more caught up with things. We also made a purchase of a new vacuum yesterday. Got the Dyson ball. I've heard so many great things about the Dyson and I wasn't disappointed. Exciting huh? :lmao:It is the little things in life.

Annette - I agree that time if flying by. Don't want to summer to go by too fast but I am looking forward to the cruise!

Is anyone interested in creating a Grand Gathering for a Magical Fireworks cruise on Sept 18th? That's the one where Capt Hook and Mr Smee come out for a photo op before you sail. We'd need at least 8 people for that.

Otherwise, I'll book the regular Wishes cruise on the Pontoon boat, and try to get others to join in to share the cost.

Please PM me if you're interested. Thanks!
Wendy

I would love to but we don't arrive til Sat.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I'll be bringing mine on the cruise for on the boat and at the park but will use CC's when we are there. :)

Good morning all,

I can't believe it's the 27th. Where has May gone. It was a very quick week end here. Between the wedding in Arkansas coming home to a 4.4 mile walk and a cook out yesterday I am pooped.

The walk/run was very nice. They have you drop flowers at the memorial and they had a bag pipe playing. It was kind of teary. My friend had a bad head cold so we walked most the way only a few minutes of running. Then we had folks over for swimming and eating. One of the girls with three kids, her DH is deployed right now so we try to keep her kids busy and give her a break.

This week is a short week also and we are off to WDW. So have a great day every one I have so much work to do.

Mary,
You are going to love that Dyson! Which model did you get? We have the new DC25. It does an amazing job, esp. with the amount of dogs and cats that we have (3 of each).

That's the one we just got and we bought it from Best Buy :)

I like that it isn't as big and heavy as the early Dyson's but still has a lot of power.

While waiting for DVC to update the website here is some food for thought. Would love to see everyone's take on this:

  • What would you like to see as the theme for this years cruise?
  • Do you think there will be a 2009 cruise?
  • If there is will you try and be on it?
  • If there isn't or you aren't going to try for it what kind of plans do you have for 2009?
The last question is purely selfish. We don't have our 2009 plans finalized yet but we have talked about limiting 2009 to just one big trip. So if there is a 2009 DVC cruise we will most likely try for it. If there isn't that leaves us open to a few other things and we are looking for ideas.

I'll be back to post my answers later but I'm interested in everyone else's thoughts.

I love my Dyson- the first time I used it it freaked me out how much stuff it got up. I thouhgt I was a good housekeeper.

What would you like to see as the theme for this years cruise? More current than last year. Really enjoyed the music but the lectures were a little too old for us.

Do you think there will be a 2009 cruise? Yes- they are sell out so I think they will.

If there is will you try and be on it? No, we think they are too rushed, want to do a 7 day.
If there isn't or you aren't going to try for it what kind of plans do you have for 2009? Eastern magic Oct 2009!!!! Any one else?

.

I have no ideas about a theme. I do think there will be a 2009 cruise, but we will not be trying for it. As for what we will do, we will probably try one of the adventure style packages.

Have a Great day everyone.

My thoughts on a 2009 cruise, I have this nagging feeling there won't be one, or it will be scaled back in some way. I hope otherwise, but their really foot dragging this one doesn't bode well.

The reason being, it being a sellout or not is not the absolute goal for a successful cruise from DVC's viewpoint. For them, the amount of point sales they make is the real and somewhat hidden goal. Yes, the cruise sells out, but with a large amount of repeat cruisers, you can only sell points to the same people so much. That became very apparent with the 'first timer' lottery thing they tried a few years back to try to inject fresh faces into the cruise, so they would have more to sell to.

I'm not sure of what kind of theme they are going for this year.

I don't think that we will do the cruise next year. It eats up a lot of our points. We are thinking about doing an ABD. Maybe Europe.

I do love the cruise though, esp meeting all the nice folks from the board.

I am so ready for a vacation! I don't want the summer to be over since it hasn't even began yet, but a few days of relaxing would be good.

Just thought I would jump in a say hi to everybody. We had a very nice Memorial Day with the family.
Mondy and Tuesday are my day's off so back to work tomorrow afternoon.
Mark I think you hit it right on the head. There is only a certin few that will buy points on the ship. I will admit Nancy and I waited until we got back last year to buy into Saratoga. We got the same deal they were offering onboard.
Mark hope you and Mary have a great week.
Joan you your Mom and sister have a great time at the World. Try to have a cold one for me.
Well off to Lacross we go to see the grandson play. Catch everyboy later.

Being a first timer on this cruise I wouldn't even begin to guess what a theme is like. I have no idea if there will be a 2009 cruise, but I doubt I will be on it. I had a lot of points to use, and no other time to use them, so the cruise this year became very attractive.
As for plans for next year, some friends of mine (one of our parish deacons and his wife) have been talking about taking me to Italy late spring/early summer. They have a lovely home in a beautiful resort town called Lerici. It's very near the Cinque Terra and Genoa on the west coast. In fact Magic used the bay the town is on (the Bay of the Poets) as its jump off point for the shore trip to Florence during the Mediterranean cruises last year. It's where Italians go on vacation.
The fall brings another family milestone--my parents will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. :cool1: We spent the 45th and the 50th in the Walt Disney suite on the Magic, but we were too late this time. The latest idea is a Hawaiian cruise. We'll see.

Here's my thoughts:
  • What would you like to see as the theme for this years cruise? I loved the theme from last year. Call me a history buff. I love hearing what it was like working for Walt and being with Disney all those years. I guess for this year I'd love to see a music theme. Maybe highlighting Disney Musicals over the years. Wouldn't it be cool if we could have guests like Julie Andrews all the way up to someone from High School Musical?
  • Do you think there will be a 2009 cruise? Like Mark I'm having my doubts. It is a sell out now but didn't sell out that first weekend which is a first. I think DVC turned off many members with the lottery and also by only offering 4 day cruises. I think they would get more members if they did a 7 day and also if they did it at a time when more families could go. When they announced the 2006 cruise while we were on the 2005 cruise we knew the theme before we even got off the ship. Now it is some 6 months after the cruise was announced and we still don't know the theme. They haven't even updated the website not to talk about winter. Makes me wonder how much detail is going into this.
  • If there is will you try and be on it? If this years turns out as good as last years definitely! I love the special touches of the Member Cruises.
  • If there isn't or you aren't going to try for it what kind of plans do you have for 2009? If we don't do a Member Cruise we are looking at some options. Adventures by Disney is certainly one. Would love to do the Disneyland back stage tour. Another option would be to go back to Hawaii - maybe even back to Ko Olina. Or we could just do a week at WDW. We'll see.

Mary you have some very good points. as you say it loots funny for 2009.
As it stands Joan and Roger would like to have Nancy and I join them on the 7 day Eastern next Oct. We have never done a 7 day but this will be our 3rd Members this year so maybe its time for a change we will wait and see what happens with the 2009 Cruise
Now that we have more points we can be flexable.

  • Let me just state for the record - If Julie Andrews is on this cruise, someone will have to treat me for cardiac arrest. I went catatonic when I saw the "Mary Poppins" in England at EPCOT last year. It was the first time I had ever seen Mary jsut walking around. I didn't even realize what an impact that movie had on my life until that day. Julie Andrews - that would be AMAZING!!! Can we add Dick Van **** too???

Don't you just love how the filter works :lmao:

Anyway on the subject of Mary Poppins - that is one of the reasons I LOVED last years Member Cruise. Hearing Richard Sherman play all the songs from the movie just blew me away.

Hi All, we would be on this cruise the first week they were offering it but the DH does not want to take the kids out of school again and he really likes the 7 day cruises vs the shorter member cruises. I was on the fence about going this year with my DD but I guess I hesitated to long and missed it. It's a bummer but I guess I can suck it up for a 7 day.

I wish DVC would change the date to allow more families could go but I guess they pick the cheapest sailing date and keep it short so they really get their $$'s worth. I did enjoy last year's theme but I was not thrilled with the Legend's Ball where were all stood around for a very long time before the Legends came out. I had a hard time keeping my younger children occupied but it was nice to meet Jim(DVC Prez)'s wife and talk to her for a bit while we were waiting. it was our first DVC cruise and I hope we will go on more but if they make it longer and change the date.

Have a good night.
