Hard to sleep tonight...:surfweb:...So sad, prayers out to Japan and the South Pacific, Hawaii. I would be suprised if the waves are big here, I'm more :scared1: of an earthquake....I hope you're far away from the coast. "The ring of fire" is majorly in motion...

Yeah, I'm wide awake tonight. I'm an hour and the Coast Range away from the beach, so we should be completely safe here.

Just heard that they are having trouble cooling the nuclear power plant that is on fire in Japan. THAT is scary!

That is scary, I still remember Chernobyl. I am glad you're safe. :flower3:

OH NO!! So, you know that saying that however bad things are for you, someone else is worse off? Well, my fear of losing my job seems so small compared to what's going on in Japan and the tsunami warnings in Hawaii and the west coast!

The pictures of Japan are just devastating! I don't know anyone there, but my heart still aches for their loss and devastation.

I do not need to say that this is a terrible set of events. My prayers go out to all those who are affected and I hope that all of us on these boards are ok.

Best wishes and please let us all know if you have been affected at all.

Hey everybody!

Sad day in the world today. Seeing the footage in Japan is so horrific. I was there in 2004 and absolutely loved it. The people are so proud, gentle, and kind. So much history and tradition emits from every corner. My aunt has been living there for the past six years. We spent all day trying to get in touch with her. I finally heard from her a few hours ago and she is fine. She lives in downtown Tokyo in a highrise. She said it took her hours to get home from work that afternoon. She got home 1am Japan time. People are of course devastated and scared, but they are pulling together. Actual Tokyo isn't in too bad of shape she said, but they do have some damage. I will update you as I get more "inside" information. :confused3 For our west-coasters.....stay safe. Thinking about you.:grouphug:

Kelly - I'm so glad your aunt is ok. It must have been a very scary day for your family until you heard from your aunt. I can't even begin to imagine what everyone is going through over there. I've looked at pictures and videos and it just doesn't seem real...it looks like something out of a movie.

Thanks!

I saw some video recently of Chernobyl as it is today. Very very spooky!!
This is a very cool little photo story of how it is recently. Motorcycling through the Chernobyl Dead Zone This was done by a young lady who lives fairly close to it and ventured into that area with nobody but herself and her motorcycle. I haven't looked at it for a long time, but it is quite fascinating. I think I will revisit it soon.

I am going to guess that with everybody up so early today due to the earthquake and tsunami, that there won't be much traffic on here tonight.

I have been reading reviews from professional tour people and some trip reports here on the DIS about the Disney Dream. They give it high marks but almost all talked about how crowded all the pools are, how they are letting small kids in the adults only pool(a real stickler with us) and all the long lines from the port waiting area to the water flum on the Dream. I hope this is not the case on our Members' Cruise. I did not read about any complaints on CC in. Has anyone else read some of these reports??...smjj

I've been reading some reports, too. Since the members cruise is in September, there will most likely be a fraction of the normal amount of kids on the ship. So, kids in the adult pool shouldn't be an issue. And I'm guessing the crowds at the terminal won't be quite as bad. Last year every stateroom on the ship was occupied but not to full capacity so it wasn't as crowded as it usually is. So, hopefully that holds true for this year's members cruise! :thumbsup2

I'm sure they'll work the kinks out because they know how detailed DVCer's and Diser's are. We read and research everythng! :rotfl:

I hope everyone is doing better, if you were down...:cutie:..have been reading on how everyone is doing...:surfweb:...As they say, "Chin up! Chin up!" Which Disney charachter said that? :confused3

My poor doggie became very sick, vomiting and having diarrhea... Of course when we took him to the vet he had a massive explosion of diarrhea in MY CAR!!!:scared1: At least he was in his crate. :sad2: so I was being nurse to him. After spending $$$$ on him, he is worth it, I have to pick up some extra hours at work. :littleangel: He's doing better now. Family is doing fine here in the West coast. Very scary earthquakes, I grew up with many, you never really get used to it.;)

Have a :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes everyone!

OK, you may recall that last weekend I punished myself for sneaking onto the computer and was grounded for two weeks. Well, I have been thinking about how sorry I am for doing that and apologized to myself. Since I am normally such a good boy and am such a hardworking person, I decided to reward myself for that. Yesterday morning I ordered an iPad2 to give to myself. :woohoo: It is a surprise so don’t tell, ok? :rotfl2:

I hope that everyone is having a great start to their weekend. :thanks:

By the way, today is my father’s 83rd birthday :cake: It has been a tough battle to get here and I am thankful I have been given another chance to celebrate with him.

OK THIS KIND OF TICKS ME OFF ABOUT HEARING THAT THEY WERE ALLOWING SMALL KIDS IN THE ADULT POOL AREA. IT SHOULDNT MATTER HOW MANY KIDS ARE ON THE SHIP, THAT AREA IS OFF LIMITS TO KIDS. LAURA AND I AND A FEW OF OUR FRIENDS ON THE MEMBER CRUISES aLLWAYS HANG OUT AT ADULT POOL BECAUSE NONE OF US HAVE KIDS WITH US. SO I HOPE WHO EVER STARTED THOSE REPORTS ABOUT KIDS BEING IN THE ADULTS ONLY AREA wERE WROnG. OTHERWISE I CAN BET YOU THERE WILL BE SOME COMPLAINTS.

Andy,
I think your secret is safe with us, just remember that it is better to give than to receive...and I hope you will be surprised!!!!!

Happy Birthday to your dad:bday:

I'm sorry your doggie got sick! (And sorry he made such a yucky mess in your car!) I'm glad to hear he's doing better now. And I'm glad your family is fine after the earthquakes. I wouldn't imagine anyone would ever get used to them....they're so unpredictable and that's what's so scary!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your father!!!! I hope you had a wonderful celebration with him today!!

Wow, Ian! I've never read so much anger in one of your posts before! I sure hope those were false reports on kids in the adult pool, otherwise they better watch out for you!! But, I totally understand your point and why it is such an issue with you. I mean, ADULT area means ADULT area and there shouldn't be ANY compromising there. That has always been a major selling point for DCL, why would they jeopardize that? I really can't imagine DCL allowing kids in the adult pool. But, then again, I haven't been on the Dream yet to see how they handle the crowd control at the pools. I can't believe DCL messed up so bad on the pools, though. All that open deck space and they didn't make bigger pools. :confused3 It will be interesting to see if they make any changes to the Fantasy based on all the bad reviews of the pools on the Dream.
