Did you ever see one of the movies where the guy drives into what would normally be a vibrant town and realizes there is nobody around? The music starts playing, the wind blows some debris across the street and then the lurking evil strikes?

That is how I felt coming onto the boards after nobody posted for over 26 hours LOL

I am figuring in this case there were no evil lurkers, we are too far away from the "99 and 00" zone...

Awh, don't sell them short ... I'm sure you and Sue can also do some house cleaning, laundry, dishes, and cooking.
Forgot to mention it to Lara, but as I see it, Sunday lunch should work out well for us. If you know of some places to eat, that would be great!

Oh do have fun! and have some tea and crumpets, fish and chips, "flake" ( they are yummy, flakey chocolate bars...) and a pint at night.

The tickers are back. It looks like the case of the disapperaring tickers has been solved. I noticed my countdown ticker has returned. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Hi there! How has everyone been the last couple of days? I'll be glad come 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. The tension in our office the last two days has been almost unbearable!!!!! And I really don't see it getting any better in the next few weeks. The bank that owns us is most likely being shut down by the FDIC because they don't have enough capital. SOOOooooo the higher up's found a company to buy the mortgage (retail lending) division of our company (which is where I work). One of the higher up's from that company was in our office yesterday and the morale in our office has gone from low to super duper low. We're just not sure what to expect. I have this awful feeling we're all going to be meeting each other in the unemployment line.

So....we'll just have to wait and see what the future brings. Don't worry...IF I do lose my job, we're still going on the cruise...that's already paid for and we just booked our airfare and it's non-refundable so there's no canceling now! Just send me some please in hopes that things get better!

I hope you're all having a better week than me! On a brighter note: part of my FE gift is some magnets....I got started on them this week and they're turning out REALLY cute!!!!

As far as the Palo reservations, I think they were the only ones who could book it at six months out. I can't try to book anything until 105 days out (I'm a Gold member). I'll give it a try, though!

I don't really know finance, but it sounds like the lending branch should be okay as long as people are able to pay off their loans.

Thank you! I'm a mortgage loan processor. I get the file after the loan officer takes the application. I order everything (appraisal, title work, verifications, etc) and send the file to underwriting. The company that is buying us has centralized processing...meaning all of the processors are up in Michigan. I am also the loan closer for our entire branch. Their closings are all centralized, too. So, pretty much ALL of my job duties are centralized up in Michigan and I basically wouldn't have anything to do. But, my boss's boss is fighting for us to keep our operations running exactly the way we've been running them. Kind of like the old saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I'm one of those "go with the flow" type people. The other two ladies in the office have major problems with change. So they are causing a lot of tension. Sure, I'm worried about my job security, but like my boss says "I was looking for a job when I found this one"

So, does anyone have any big plans this weekend? My kids have a birthday party Saturday and then I'm going to a Lupus Foundation Chili Cook-off. My mom's hubby is entering his chili. And hopefully Sunday I can stay home all day and relax just like I did last Sunday!

An 8.9 earthquake hit the northern coast of Japan, causing an enormous tsunami to engulf part of northern Japan. It's been recorded as the 7th largest earthquake ever. The West Coast of California and any part of the Pacific Coast from Alaska to South America is on tsunami watch. s.c.a.r.y.
