Whoo-hoo! Yay me!! Thank you Sue! Yes, it is time for bed... Good night all! :cloud9:

Did Sue get the outfits?
Yes, thank you! Actually I was going to post pics tonight, but I had to help her cook/bake/wrap instead... :lmao: Best laid plans and all that...

Did you get our envelope yet? It was slightly delayed because Sue wanted to find something to include.

Thank you for the Christmas present of the double double, Wally! You ROCK! :thanks: Since you popped in right after I posted that, I know you were being generous!

I agree Terrie, I am also very proud of you :)

Thank you :goodvibes

Merry Christmas Eve Eve everyone! :santa:
Michael

Merry Christmas eve Michael. For us it is "Noche Buena" (translation The Good Night). I'm of hispanic heritage and Wally gets to be an honorary Cuban tonight  Many of the latin cultures have their Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve and some form of a Noche Buena tradition. My mouth is already watering for some lechon asado (Cuban style roasted pork).

Ho Ho Ho everyone! The next couple of days will be busy here so I wanted to wish everyone a warm Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. If you are traveling please be safe. Eat drink and be merry. I hope you all make wonderful memories.
I'm raising my cherry coke for a toast:" Here's to Santa being very generous to one and all".:santa:

Merry Christmas Lynn!!!! :santa:

Terrie - I would have never guessed that you came from such a neighborhood. I'm so glad that your mom didn't get you & your brother OR herself caught up in that cycle.

So, I just found out at 4:55 today that I have tomorrow off. We were supposed to go in to work from 8-12 but the boss decided at the last minute to let us have the day off. THANK GOD...I have a million things still to do and I didn't know how I was going to have time to do it all

LOL Most people don't. But, catch me talking to my brother and depending on the conversation both of us will sound rather ghetto and revert to the vernacular we learned to use in the neighborhood. I can teach you how to break into a 1980 something Camaro or Trans Am among other skills that I learned but don't use :scared1: Wait, I take that back. As an adult, the night Wally and I met, he wathced me break into my own apartment. But that's another story :lmao:

YAY for days off!!! On Wednesday I told my boss I was not coming in Thursday. When he asked why I decided to go with the truth. I told him there was nothing for me to do and if I came in I was just going to listen to my iPod all day and that I could do that at home :rotfl2:

No, you are lucky that you had a mom who cared and spent time teaching you how to MAKE good choices, and who gave you a sense of personal responsibility. You demonstrated that by working your butt off to continue getting your courses in one at a time. That is not instant gratification, but a long term process. Congrats for all that you have accomplished! :worship:

And you are right with the side note. It IS the bomb! I don't know if they still have that program, but it sure did help us for a little while.

Thank you :goodvibes Yes, she did and yes, I am.

OMG, Dan, you are the only other person I've met since those days that KNOWS about government cheese :worship: The peanut butter sucked ... but oh man that cheese!!!! I've never come across anything even close to it. I don't know how they made that stuff and maybe I don't want to know but I would love to have just one more grilled cheese sandwich made with it

Can I get a rare double double?

Woo Hoo Woo Hoo Double Congratulations!!!!

Merry Christmas Eve All!!! Ah, and a FELIZ NOCHE BUENA to a new friend of mine :goodvibes I hope you will be going to Misa Del Gallo afterwards... ;)

Terrie, I also yearn for just one more grilled cheese with the government cheese. I remember how excited I would be at seeing that huge brick of cheese in the unmarked cardboard box. :rotfl2:

I was not feeling well yesterday so I really did not get on here. Today and tomorrow I have tons to do but I will surely be on here a bit so I can share this special holiday with all of my new DIS friends.

Thank you :goodvibes Well, it's been a few years since we've attended a Misa Del Gallo :rolleyes1

OMG I can't beleive now I know two people who know about "THE BRICK". Too funny!

Glad you are feeling better! I hope :santa: brings you everything you asked for :thumbsup2

Good morning everybody! Happy Christmas eve! For those who haven't finished (or started) your shopping, I would suggest that you get going FAST! :rotfl2:

Just finished up the last of the Christmas shopping:banana:
May all of us on the boards enjoy a Merry Christmas and all the blessings that come with it. To all of you that will have a white Christmas, please post pictures for us in Texas to enjoy. It is going to be 68 degrees today, but dropping to 51 for Christmas day and a freeze on christmas night:thumbsup2

That is NOT funny! You know darned well it would take more than 2 days for Shellie May (Duffy's girlfriend) to get here from Japan.
I agree 100%!!! . The environment does not lend itself to making good choices in life. I'm still the only one in my family that went to college. It took me 10 years to graduate because I could only afford to pay for one class at a time when I was waiting tables :lmao: My brother and I are lucky not to have been caught up in that cycle. Our lives could have turned out much differently.
I am so proud of you Terri :thumbsup2 ....I had to move out of the house (my mother was developing dementia and had a VERY BAD TEMPER) with 1 1/2 years left of college, guaranteed, applied for welfare, I told them I didn't need the money, just assistance with food, and got denied because I had a car.. They told me to sell it because I couldn't have any assests beyond "X" amount. Sheesh! I needed the car to get to college and drop off my daughter at daycare, get to the hopspital for clinicals...etc...:headache:

We used to attend the midnight mass...:) Oh yeah, the powdered milk, etc...
Glad you are feeling better! I hope :santa: brings you everything you asked for :thumbsup2
Anybody else up and on here tonight? Jennifer? Liz? :confused3 Any other west coasters?
Working hard at work!!!:laundy:

Add me to your list. When I was young, for a couple of years, we lived in the upstairs portion of a two family house that my grandparents owned. They lived downstairs. My grandmother used to play cards at the senior center with all the other old ladies. The feds used to deliver some of their food products there for the seniors. My grandmother would only bring home the cheese. You're right, it made the best grilled cheeses! I think that's when I became familiar with the term "processed cheese food". :rotfl2:
