:rotfl2: Oh, there was some MAJOR grumbling yesterday from him. His dad told him he could do what he was told without attitude or bring down all his electronics from his bedroom and have his Christmas canceled. :scared1:

I'm not sure what got into him today though. He got up and I told him it was his turn to do dishes. He's spent the last hour in there doing dishes, wiping down the cabinets, mopping the floor, etc. I have to put up with him playing his music in there and listening to him singing, but cleaning without me asking ... or complaint ... ??? I'll take it!:banana::banana:

Wow! When he gets done send him over to my house, I will be more than willing to put up with his music and singing if he cleans here. Of course, the real question is, will he be willing to put up with MY music and singing??? :rotfl2:

Happy Hump Day, everybody! Week is half over and Christmas is 3 days away! :dance3:

Hi Karen...How was your trip?

Hiya Wally! It was good! Aside from dealing with my surly 16 year old, it was great! We had one night of rain that ended up canceling the Fantasmic I had purchased seats for (they also had to cancel the Candlelight Processionals that night). So, we had to have that refunded. But, we did get to see World of Color twice and had good views both nights (thanks to lots of DISboards research).

The first night we tried to catch the fireworks, it was canceled midway through the show due to winds. But, we were able to see it a few days later. So, it worked out.

Haunted Mansion Holiday was fun, but the family agrees that classic is better. As is the Tiki Room, under ORIGINAL management. I just can't deal with that east coast version. *shudders* Enjoying our Dole Whips while listening to Jose and the gang do their thing was a highlight!

The night Fantasmic was canceled was actually a fun night for us. Crowds were pretty light and we ended up doing lots of rides. Big Thunder Mountain in the dark and rain was a hoot! We laughed ourselves silly and rode it several times with no wait.

We did Knotts Berry Farm and found out that DS16 starts to black out when going straight up at a high rate of speed. Kinda scary, but we get to pick on him now for the rest of his life. :rotfl2:

We did Universal Hollywood and agreed that it was nice, but not worth the price of admission. And we really don't need to go there again for at least five or ten years. This was our lunch conversation (at 11:30am).

Guys: Let's find more rides to go on.
Me: We've _been_ on all the rides already.

Yes, three rides. Four if you count the tour (which I don't). I really liked the tour (I was a TV/Film major in college). But, it's not a "ride". My family is ok with shows, but shows are "break times", sprinkles on the ice cream, not the main course ... you get me? Sadly for us, Universal Hollywood is mostly shows and not so many rides. At least I saved $40 by buying our tickets from AAA before we left. :thumbsup2

Ok, have to send this before my battery dies!

That's awesome you guys had a good time (minus DS16). If he had dreams of being a fighter pilot/astronaut are now out of reach.

I enjoy breaks from rides too. And our trips have to include nap time or Wally is not a happy camper.

I heard that "World of Color" puts Fantasmic to shame. Probably gonna do that when were @ D23 Expo next year.

Yeah, we mentioned that to him. Luckily for him, all he's ever wanted to be is a video game designer.

We enjoyed a couple of nap days too. I'm not usually a napper, but we were wiped out. I probably would have slept the night through, but the guys were whining about dinner.

I was looking forward to comparing them. Disneyland's Fantasmic has always been my favorite Disney show (WDW's is just ... meh...). But, it will be a few more years before I can compare fond memories against the real deal. I was SOOOO looking forward to seeing Murphy! :sad2:

We did get to see Aladdin for the first time though. What a GREAT show! Loved it. And so did the guys! I would have gone to see it a second time, but the guys were less enthusiastic. The line was long and it was still a while to go until show time. :confused3

I hope everyone's done with their Holiday Shopping. There's only 2 shopping days before Christmas. (I guess I should start now) :scared1:

You have most of Friday to get it done Wally! Why start early?

I've been told that I'm done with my shopping ... My lovely and talented bride (without whom my life would be meaningless and not worth living    ) says that there is no need to get her the traditional Christmas book ... On the upside, there are 5 shopping days until my birthday ... :scared1: :sad1: (not that anyone needs to shop ... cake is fine ...I suppose ... (BTW WHY OH WHY on MY birthday do I have bring treats for my co workers? It's MY birthday! Shouldn't they be giving ME treats? I'm just wondering ... :confused3 )

It is a "carry over" from grade school, where your mom had to provide the cake/cupcakes for your class on your birthday. Why that is, I have no idea...

Hmmmm, I have had leadership roles in a few fraternal organizations in which I have "welcomed" the new members... Torture with permission??? Kinda takes the fun out of it I think.

New DCL Dream video here.

They just added another on the staterooms.

Perhaps I shall take him rappelling and see if it happens when he is going straight DOWN at a high rate of speed... See, you might just get that torture anyway.

I can't speak for any of you, but in my case, my mother was the baker supreme of the neighborhood and everyone knew it. I think I had parents fighting to be the class parent for the day when it was time for some of her good cooking to make an appearance.

Also, I saw this and thought some of you might be interested in seeing the picture and article: http://land.allears.net/blogs/dnews/2010/12/disney_dream_walt_disney_theat_2.html

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO GEORGE!!!! (Mr HappyCamper)

Today I was reading our local newspaper (online) and came across this article:

You can read the whole thing to see how awesome this story is, but the reason I'm sharing it on here is in the second to the last paragraph. You'll see when you read it.

http://www.nwitimes.com/news/local/...cle_de4bd885-2e82-5e5a-9b4c-3c8696cbc538.html

I'm so glad this family was able to use the media to their advantage. We hear such sad stuff on the news all the time; and initially their story was sad. Their infant son was going to die because Indiana's medicare wouldn't pay for a surgery he needs to save his life. And a few days after the story was in the paper and on the local news, they got a call saying the surgery would be covered. YAY!!!! I'd rather see my tax dollars going towards that than for people who have no desire to better themselves and just live on welfare forever. (No offense to anyone who is (or has been) on welfare-it SHOULD be there for people who need it, but TEMPORARILY...I get frustrated about people who have found a way to make that their main source of income and do nothing to better themselves or provide for themselves)
Ok, I'll stop my complaining now. :upsidedow

That is NOT funny! You know darned well it would take more than 2 days for Shellie May (Duffy's girlfriend) to get here from Japan.

I agree 100%!!! I grew up in the projects. Although my mom refused to go on welfare (she worked 2 jobs instead) we did get food stamps and government food staples. Side note: Goverment cheese is the bomb! Anyhow, looking back it can create an unending cycle for some people who choose to work the system. There needs to be some form of motivation to get out of that system and there isn't. A lot of the kids I grew up around are still in the system and with kids of their own :sad2: Many of the others are now dead or in jail. The environment does not lend itself to making good choices in life. I'm still the only one in my family that went to college. It took me 10 years to graduate because I could only afford to pay for one class at a time when I was waiting tables :lmao: My brother and I are lucky not to have been caught up in that cycle. Our lives could have turned out much differently.

Thanks for sharing...

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo EXCITED. Can't wait until May for our Dream Cruise with Shawn & Milford.
:woohoo:

oooooooo ooooooooo oooooooooo ooooooooo oooooooo ooooooo
us neither.......................

I agree Terrie, I am also very proud of you :)

Ho Ho Ho everyone! The next couple of days will be busy here so I wanted to wish everyone a warm Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. If you are traveling please be safe. Eat drink and be merry. I hope you all make wonderful memories.
I'm raising my cherry coke for a toast:" Here's to Santa being very generous to one and all".:santa:
