Hiya Wally! It was good! Aside from dealing with my surly 16 year old, it was great! We had one night of rain that ended up canceling the Fantasmic I had purchased seats for (they also had to cancel the Candlelight Processionals that night). So, we had to have that refunded. But, we did get to see World of Color twice and had good views both nights (thanks to lots of DISboards research).
The first night we tried to catch the fireworks, it was canceled midway through the show due to winds. But, we were able to see it a few days later. So, it worked out.
Haunted Mansion Holiday was fun, but the family agrees that classic is better. As is the Tiki Room, under ORIGINAL management. I just can't deal with that east coast version. *shudders* Enjoying our Dole Whips while listening to Jose and the gang do their thing was a highlight!
The night Fantasmic was canceled was actually a fun night for us. Crowds were pretty light and we ended up doing lots of rides. Big Thunder Mountain in the dark and rain was a hoot! We laughed ourselves silly and rode it several times with no wait.
We did Knotts Berry Farm and found out that DS16 starts to black out when going straight up at a high rate of speed. Kinda scary, but we get to pick on him now for the rest of his life.
We did Universal Hollywood and agreed that it was nice, but not worth the price of admission. And we really don't need to go there again for at least five or ten years. This was our lunch conversation (at 11:30am).
Guys: Let's find more rides to go on.
Me: We've _been_ on all the rides already.
Yes, three rides. Four if you count the tour (which I don't). I really liked the tour (I was a TV/Film major in college). But, it's not a "ride". My family is ok with shows, but shows are "break times", sprinkles on the ice cream, not the main course ... you get me? Sadly for us, Universal Hollywood is mostly shows and not so many rides. At least I saved $40 by buying our tickets from
AAA before we left.
Ok, have to send this before my battery dies!
