I am very glad you mentioned that. Although it does you no good, the summer is when I am planning to make my purchase. Should I decide on the Mac, not only can I get the discount but I can also get the iTouch (as long as they offer it again) I remember seeing it last summer when I checked the pricing but forgot about it.

They've run that deal for the past two years, at least. So, there's a good chance they'll do it again. I hope you can get in on it! :thumbsup2

Ok fellow Chicago/Tri-State area Dis Members!!!

I am starting to plan our Dis Meet at DWTD in Schaumburg. I am looking for dates from anyone around the Chicago/NW Indiana, Wisconsin area that wants to go. I have been speaking with Derek, my wonderful guide, who will set us all up. I just need dates from you all and who is going. We talked previously about doing a Meet in February. Does this still sound good to everyone?? Let me know.

Kelly:cool1:

I was already working with Derek on this - I had posted I would revisit after the holidays. We were shooting for February, so this should work well. I will bow out and let you take over from here.. :)

I think I may do that. :thumbsup2 I also remembered that I can get $100 off of the MacBook two different ways. Federal employees can get a discount (the DH is one) and I can get a discount because I'm a homeschool teacher (through the education store). Doesn't look like there is a discount on the iPad though.

If you get/have a Target credit card you will get 5% off on all purchases, including an iPad. When I got Wally his iPad as an anniversary gift I applied for the Target card in the store and used it to get the 5% off. When the bill came in I paid it in full, so no interest to worry about. I know 5% isn't much but it's something.

Oh, Carol. So sorry. I do briefly remember you mentioning this a couple of months ago, just hadn't seen you on here for awhile. Glad we both have Derek as our guide, though. He is wonderful. Talked with him today and February still sounds good. I hope you will be there. Once again, sorry if I stepped on your toes. :confused3

Thanks, Carol. I feel better. I am also glad to help you out with your full plate. :thumbsup2 I actually enjoy doing this sort of thing. Hope to meet you soon, finally!!

Nice! Thanks for the tip! I think I can get 2.5% back in Best Buy Bucks if I buy from them too. Someone said they would match the education store prices too (because we have a local Mac store that will).

I must be completely batty because I noticed today that for our stay in September, I really need another 75 points to do what I want to do. That's a 25 point add on right there. And if I put it all on my Disney Visa, I can get 1% or 3% back (just got a bonus offer for rewards, but I'm not sure that qualifies?), and no interest for 6 months, by which time it will be 100% paid off. Plus I wouldn't be spending about $750 that I'll never get back, if I rent from someone. Ohhhhhh, it's soooooo tempting!!!! :headache::headache::headache:

I seriously need to get back to work to pay for all these things I want!!!

Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee doooooooooogggy! I just read that IN ADDITION to the $75 surcharge for eating at Remy, the wine pairings for the tasting menu will cost $99!! $175 for dinner and wine, plus you have to figure that you are "losing out" on the cost of your standard ship dinner (value of what, $30 - $40?). That puts the cost up at around $200/person. OUCH!!!

... I seriously need to get back to work to pay for all these things I want!!!

Ahhhh Grasshopper...

As Confusious once say: "DS Grumpy + DS Happy Sneezy = Manual Labor Workforce able to earn enough money to buy Mommy her toys"

I guess you missed that fortune cookie

LOL They think I'm evil for making them work to pay for their own toys. I can't imagine the looks if I asked them for a cut of what they get from grandma for mowing the lawn, etc. :rotfl2:

Hold the phone!!!!!!!

What Disney Visa Offer??? Are you talking about the one where you spend over $3000 and then get triple bonus points?? What do you mean with 1% or 3% back??? This sounds interesting, please continue.

Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question but who is your guy Derek? Does he work for Disney/DVC? How is he helping you with your meet? I volunteered to put together a Meet here in the Northeast for those of us out here, so any help you can throw my way would be fantastic!

Thanks!! :worship:

Hi Sue!

Not a stupid question at all. Derek is my DVC guide/sales rep we purchased from. He is totally cool and works right here in the Disney Doorway to Dreams store at one of our local malls. He is helping me set up our meet. If you need a contact person to help you set up a meet out your way, I am sure Derek would be more than willing to give you a name and number. Let me know if you want his contact info and I will PM you.

OK...spoke with Doorway to Dreams today. A date that most likely will work for them is Saturday, February 26th. Derek, my guy,:thumbsup2 said we could/should come in early, before the doors open to the public, so we can get some quality/uninterrupted time. They open at 10AM so Derek said around 8-8:30AM.....I chose 8:30AM. Basically, here is how it would work...

*Breakfast "refreshements" will be served
*Freebies will be given away
*Play games/trivia with prizes
*Presentation (not a sales pitch, however he will let us know of incentives)
*Videos might be shown
*Pin Trading
*Tour the store and models of BLT
*Kids Club is provided for those who want to bring children....must be potty-trained though. (Sorry, Lilly)

I told Derek that we are all DVC Members going on this year's cruise so he said he would make it "cruise-themed" and a lot of fun. I told him any "inside" information or video/pics he could give us about the Dream would be awesome!! He also wants me to ask you all if there is anything you would like to see or do while there. Any suggestions for activities or anything??? Let me know. I thought we could all go to the Disney Store afterward and then out to lunch.....if interested.

The exact date is not set in stone, but I just wanted to update you. Please let me know, if you haven't already, if you will be attending. As I need to give them a number. Thanks!!!!:wizard:

Don't forget about Blizzard Beach! Too bad the Osborne Dancing Christmas lights aren't still up. They made snow for that too. I will see if I can post a pic of that later tonight. ;)
Nope. Too late tonight. Just got off a work conference call. It will have to be tomorrow. :sad2:

Here's a link to Yahoo Travel's article. Disney didn't get top billing, but it's alphabetical, except for the first one. I found it interesting that Carnival's new ships are the Dream (older) and the her new sister ship, Magic. Are they running out of names or what?

Anyway, nothing we really don't know about the Disney Dream, but it gives us a nice comparison with other ships around the globe.
