Aww..that's too bad. But tell them not to give up hope. Everything happens for a reason. When we were looking for a house about 5-6 years ago, I found one that I absolutely LOVED. We weren't quite ready to put an offer on it and a few weeks later it was off the market. Fast forward a couple of months when we were ready to seriously look and put an offer on a house, that house was back on the market! We've lived in it now for almost 5 years! :thumbsup2 It's definitely a buyers market right now, so I'm sure they will find something else. OR....maybe the deal will fall through on offer that got accepted. The lending guidelines are tightening up and changing almost every day, so a lot of people who used to qualify for a mortgage don't qualify anymore. Sending pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: her way!!! :goodvibes

Aw thats a great house story. Thats wonderful for your family:banana: Thanks for all the good wishes I'll let them know :lovestruc

Thanks for asking, the answer is no. It was a foreclosure so we had to wait until all the bids were in. They were disappointed but I told them not to give up. Unfortunately sometimes the sales don't go through so the bank still has their info. Also sometimes this means a better house will come up! Just have to keep positive:)

We literally looked at 60 houses before we found the right one that said "Hi! You're home! " Have them stick to it and they will find the right home for them. I think they may need just a little pixiedust:

Awe thanks. Sometimes patience is very hard to learn but we all learn it. We will help keep their spirits up and keep encouraging them. :goodvibes

Congrats! I've thought about becoming a TA very often, but I've no idea how to get started. I've had friends of friends email or call me for Disney advice. I love talking Disney, but being able to pull a paycheck from talking Disney would be even better. :thumbsup2

Thanx! I am hoping to have our own Disney information website someday with a forum section. I would love for my 9-5 job to be going to the parks, taking pics and blogging.

I'm hoping I can convince Jason to move us to Orlando when he retires (mandatory at 57 1/2) and work for WDW Security. :thumbsup2

Hi Lynn,

Tell the kids not to give up. We looked at around 50 repo's for our house in Indy. Most were in terrible condition due to spring time shopping. The previous people moved out and the water lines froze when the heat went off during the winter. We placed bids on about 4 properties. At one point we were $20 below the high bid, but in the end we found a better house.

All we needed to add to the house were a fridge, washer, and dryer. I epoxy painted the garage floor, Lara repainted a couple of rooms and I changed the filter on the reverse osmosis (RO) system. The carpet could have been replaced, but I talked Lara out of it due to Laran spilling stuff, so we had it cleaned instead. Later we added tile to the garage entry and master bath, and a fence for the back yard.

I'm sure they already know the advantages of buying a repo. Our house was assessed at $220,000 when new, about 4 years before we bought it at $143,000. Of course part of that was due to the housing market, but maybe half was due to being a repo. If they are willing to do some repairs, even better deals can be found. Most repo's are going to be in brand new neighborhoods using modern planning practices such as green spaces. The houses are also going to have modern appliances and effeciencies.

The only advise I can give is to keep looking and bidding. The more they like one, the stronger their bid should be. Some of the ones we bid on were going to require a lot of work, but if we got it at our offer, it would have been worth it. Consider the neighborhood carefully. Also, it seemed to me that the better (condition) houses were held by private banks. The ones with HUD backed financing tended to be in far worse condition. Not sure if that will hold true everywhere, though.

Good Morning All!!! Debbie and I are full fledged travel agents now!!:woohoo: We are starting a new chapter in our lives that hopefully will lead us to a life lived in Florida. I can see it now, the bright sun, clean Florida air (no more breathing in steal mill pollution), no more plowing snow in blizzards!!!, and wearing shorts and tee shirts almost year round.:thumbsup2 Wally and Terrie sure do live the life I dream about! Can't wait!! Now that we are travel agents it feels that we are a few steps closer to that becoming a reality.

Thanks!! It's actually in my name but Junior is building a website for it and we're doing it as a "Team". :thumbsup2

I've rented out my DVC points on several occasions and it is so exciting to book the room for people knowing that they're going on such a "Magical" vacation. I love answering questions that people have and giving them advice from our experiences to help them get more out of their time and money at WDW. So, this just seemed logical to do. It should be fun and rewarding. :thumbsup2

Wow, congratulations Junior and Debbie!!!

What are your thoughts in the near term? Thinking about keeping your current job(s) and starting off slowly in Indiana, or jumping in completley? Lara almost became a travel agent a few years ago, before she got her current job. We have the text books for becoming an agent. Maybe I should dig those out and start studying them, in case my job hunt doesn't pan out? Sounds like a lot of fun helping family's vacation dreams come true!
